I'll post some stuff, (videos short discription and images) tomorrow. Got tomorrows review to sort yet an its getting really late, plus I've purchased a few games today via Steam Desura and Gamersgate that I've not had time to play and want to before I retire to bed. :)

Basically they are all Shmup's (two are 360's and ones a vertical shooter), and very colorful shmup's at that. :)

Bullet Candy was a game giveaway way back in the first year of the project. Excellent game. Oddly Steam have the original version of it, but not the perfect version.

You can read about, see images and a video of Bullet Candy over on steam HERE and Scoregasm HERE

The following is just cut and paste from Steam and other sources (Charlies Games) as well as video from You Tube.

Bullet Candy:

Bullet Candy is a fast paced, action packed arena shooter. There are a variety of combo systems and many secret techniques that you can employ to get the best score and weapon upgrades possible. Viewed from a top-down perspective, Bullet Candy allows for a true 360° shoot-em-up experience. With all of your enemies in view at all times it's easy to see and, more importantly, shoot them into tiny little pieces.

The main difference between the original and the perfect versions is that the graphics have been updated, new music added and the levels have been tweaked.

You can see video of Bullet Candy game play HERE and here is some video of Bullet Candy Perfect game play HERE

You can see from the images below the improved graphics of the perfect version (last two images of the five). They appear sharper and clearer

................................................................

Scoregasm:

I found the following on Shacknews. Maybe Whiterabbit can expound on these games as they are greek to me. (:) Sounds like a good deal to me to broaden mine and perhaps your horizons:

Charlie’s Games Mega Bundle Pack

Do you like the look of my games but are in a dilema about which one to get? Are you fretting that you might pick the WRONG ONE? Do your friends call you names like ‘stinky pants’ or ‘poopy slacks’ because you like the look of a different game to them? Well fret and dilema no more with the Charlie’s Games Mega Pack! Yes, that’s right! The Charlie’s Games Mega Pack!

Yes, with the Charlie’s Games mega pack you not only get the game you think you want, but all the others too! It’s the no risk option that’s sure to satisfy!

And that’s not all! A copy of the Charlie’s Games Mega Pack doesn’t just get you a copy of Bullet Candy, Bullet Candy Perfect AND Irukandji, oh no! You get 3 copies! That’s right, 3 copies! One of each game for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux! AND you’ll get a collection of links to bonus bits and bobs!

But wait a minute, i know what you’re thinking! Surely this must cost much more than just buying one of the games individually? Right? WRONG! You can get the Charlie’s Games Mega Pack for as little as $1.

Yes, you can pay as much as you wish from $1 up! ‘What’s in it for me if i pay more than the minimum?’ i hear you cry. Well, aside from a calm, happy, contented feeling that comes with helping a developer pay the bills and write new games, if you pay equal to or greater than the current asking price for a copy of Scoregasm (indiegames.com arcade game of the year 2011), i’ll send you a copy of that too(yes, it registers on Steam)!

You can also buy a copy of the Mega Pack for a friend! Just fill in their email in the box provided after you’ve bought a copy and i’ll send some links over to them!

Check out the games in the Mega Pack by clicking the images below:

And optionally for folk who pay over $9.99

If you want a Mega Pack of your own to love, cherish and nurture (you get a copy for Windows, OS X and 32bit Linux, plus Scoregasm if you pay over $9.99) then simply type what you think it’s worth in the box thing below (as long as it’s over $1 so that Paypal doesn’t take most of it). Remember to click ‘Return to Merchant’ after you’ve paid, or you might have to wait a little while to get your links. :)

After you’ve placed your order, I’ll get your email links to you as soon as I can in case you forgot to click return to merchant. This is usually well within an hour, but sometimes i need to sleep, or i’m out so it may take a little longer. If you’ve been waiting for more than about 12 hours, then please grumble at me via email.

If you haven’t got a response from me at all, please try and get me via twitter (i’m @charliesgames), chances are I’m having difficulty reaching you via the email address you provided.

Have fun!

Cheers
Charlie

It really is a nice thought tnip, but I'm afraid the bandwidth wouldn't be enough anyway. I've seen days here where sites' servers are crippled because of all the downloads. Seeing as how the ratio is 1:12 (upload to download) I just think that wouldn't be near enough. AND we've already linked to well over 500 games...some of them quite big in nature and we've still got a long way to go before the well dries up. I just think that this would be too limiting to yourself. I think the best way to go about it is the way we are using now. I have often thought of creating a filefront or something like it account for myself to upload files (as I know rabbit has also) so as to just offer one more option to download just in case sites are crippled.

It's a noble thing you propose friend, but I think it'd be a waste of time ultimately.

I think there's loads of people that download and don't comment... I also joined the forum just to support Whiterabbit's noble deeds and voice my appreciation. But the vast majority out there are just readers and recipients who don't post, and there's nothing wrong with that. ;)

But to namei... and forgive me, as I'm not trying to be rude in the slightest, so forgive me beforehand... but I really don't see what the purpose is of your doing this. I mean... it's been done. Right here. Ordered, linked, categorized... and yes, there's not an actual rating star or number, but I think that would differ vastly with these types of games. It's kind of "try it and see if you like it" offerings. So I guess I'm questioning why you would want to basically redo a task that's already been painstakingly done by gargoyle. What am I missin'? *&:-o

I hope that there are more people downloading those games than those that comment. I actually think that its kindof like the giveaway, where tons of people watch, but never comment. I am also not planning on having direct download links to their site. The site i have set up has 20 gigs of spce and 300 gigs of transfer. I would upload all of the games onto this site, therefore removing the need to even move to another site. However, I would like to see how many people really are downloading the games before embarking a task.

In response to Whiterabbit,(Quote)"I think there's quite a small community downloading these games judging by the number of community members commenting."
I, for one, am very appreciative and thankful for all you do for us. I visit the site religiously on a regular basis but am not really into the chit-chat end of it all. Therefore, I never participate in the commenting sections, though I do often read them. I just now even registered, as to be able to leave this comment.
I'm sure that there are much more than you'd imagine of others just like me, that show up daily to check your postings.
Please, keep up the selfless deed you grace us with knowing it will please more of us than you will ever know.

I was thinking of adding a rating system of sorts to the game synopsis so that users could get an idea as to what games were better, but in some ways what's good for one person may be rubbish for another. There are always some games that rise above the rest, but overall I think most of the games we have been posting are playable and pretty good.

I've just not had time to carry out the idea. I did post somewhere asking for the community to rate their favorite games so that I could score points on each game (I was going to use a star system 1 to 5 stars), but it didn't take off. I think there's quite a small community downloading these games judging by the number of community members commenting. (Also the giveaway download stats show only about 1% of the giveaway community bother with the game giveaway side of the project) I actually counted them when I was feeling the project wasn't being well received a couple of months ago and counted about 40 to 50 different names that have contributed to the forum comments, with several contributing on more than a few occassions.

I still think rating the games in the games synopsis is a good idea, but that's me, lol.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

To thenameIpicked:

I'm not sure about the project you are intending to start up thenameIpicked. As midori says, the post g@rgoyle created, links to all the freeware games (at least several hundred of them) we've posted in these forums, which include the reviews and download links as well as hundreds of comments.

I see your point about us linking to second websites as opposed to direct linking to the download. We're not allowed to do that here otherwise I would have posted some direct links, though I do like to link to the authors site when I can so as to give credit to them. Often their sites will be ad supported, which enables them to create income for further game sponsorship. Also you get to see what other games they have created.

Hi, namei... it's always good to have an idea going, but isn't that pretty much what we already have right here? g@rgoyle has been keeping track of all the games, has the list alphabetized with the category alongside, and the link has the original review with YouTube previews if applicable, etc. Kind of all you need to see what's been offered, and a great resource. So not sure what good another posting of the games in another place would accomplish. Forgive me if I'm missing something, but that's my first take on your idea... albeit it's always good to offer them up.

I was wondering if this would be a good idea...but I would need help from the entire community here. I have created a site (thename.sqweebs.com, username thename, pass giveaway), where I would upload all of the free games given away, and have a 5 star rating, the review, and the download link right next to it. If that is successful, there could be a website portion. What do you think?
