Maybe you can check today's giveaway other offers, they have three for christmas... Furthermore, I think there are good odds of seeing one of them being the Giveaway since there are often screensavers, so I'd recommend checking... ;-)

Hi All you can make your own screensaver by using your own images and the slide show scrensaver. I have been using it for a few years and love it. It is very simple just install it then right click on desktop then properties then screensaver then slideshow for those using windows it may be different for some others. Then settings and put in the destination of the folder of pictures you want to use and you have your screen saver.

They also have screensavers if you scroll down on the left side, but they are mainly just rotated photos.

mikeeve, what it actually says on the Wolfman's website is that you can download the screensaver for free, and it's free of virus. Not to be confused with the fact that the actual screensaver is free, because non of his are free, as far as I know of. However, consider the quality of what is offered there.

That being said, I believe if one were of a mind to pay for a screensaver, then Wolfman's are the cream of the crop. And you did start the thread by saying that you wouldn't mind paying a little for a good one, yes? :-)

So, at this point I see a couple of options for you. First, you could consider getting the Wolfman screensaver that you really like the most, and wait to install it until about the 10th of Dec, and that way it lasts until Xmas without any payment needed.

Second, you could settle for a freeware screensaver, that is not quite the quality of Wolfman's work, but it also does not require payment, and you run it when you wish.

Hi I checked a few more and they don't ask you to install anything so I guess it is only certain ones that do that.

BB385: I hate it when that happens! I think at ezthemes, the malware that comes with the screensaver may depend on who wrote it. The Wolfman program I downloaded seems to be clean, but now it's saying its a 15-day trial version. On the Wolfman site, he says its free with an optional donation... That's the nice thing about the GAOTD programs. They've been checked out and don't have all this nonsense.

If you are on a budget but still want a commercial product, check out older versions of Nero or PowerDVD. I've bought these from surplus online stores, and never paid more than $5. Here is Nero 6, Suite 3 which does all the usual copy stuff plus plays DVDs, etc for only 99 cents plus any hardware purchase (like a cable):

Welcome to the GOTD forums. Try these out to help you resolve things.

PowerDVD = Not free but very good software to play DVDs if you want to watch store bought videos as well as others.

DivX = This is a popular DivX media player that may work for you (if your trying to play DivX format videos). This one has been finicky for me, but you may like it. (Get DivX codec pks below at Free-Codecs [dot] com if you don't need the player itself.)

Winamp = Free media player. Only limit is 2x burning speed. Upgrade to Pro version ($20) for unlimited burning CDs & DVDs. Has numerous free plug-ins and skins for dwnld at there site to make it do all sorts of things including equalizers to adjust your sound quality etc. + many others.

Gspot = To see if you have a particular codec installed on your PC for the format your trying to play. It will find it on your system if so. Easy drag and drop function; just drag your file on to the app and it will find the codec if it's on your PC. You can use that info to check the version you have and see if there's an updated one available on-line to update it. If it doesn't find it on your PC then you'll have to install one.

Free Codecs = A source to dwnld free codecs and codec pks.

K-Lite Codec Pack 3.5.7 = This is a codec pkg that contains most of the codecs you'll likely need. It also contains the Gspot codec appliance tool I listed above (same version). If your not familiar with this stuff, I recommend dwnld'g the 'standard' K-Lite pkg. Unless your going to get into DVD authoring (making your own movies) etc. you don't need the 'full' pkg.

Could be a bad codec, maybe your sound card drivers are out of date, or the DvD is a bit iffy.

why is it that the audio of my computer when i watch DVD's is not good?what i mean is that the sound is not good.

I know screensavers aren't needed, but anyone found good ones for the holidays? I'm really afraid of most dedicated screensaver sites since these programs are often used to sneak in adware and browser hijackers. Heck, I'm even willing to pay a few bucks for a good one!
