Luanne, This past week, I was running into the "Fatal error: key is invalid" error on many of the programs I tried to install from GAOTD and at least two from elsewhere. I suspected one of the GAOTD programs from earlier in the week, but didn't know which one since I had problems with several of them. After trying some things which did not help, I restored my system to 11/20/07 and the problem was fixed. Just to test the fix, I tried to install the two non-GAOTD programs which had demonstrated this same problem and they both installed perfectly now. One earlier program that caused me significant problems with the install was DefenseWallHips. Two of my computers would not re-boot after trying to install the program and I was forced to re-start in safe mode, turn on the selective boot in msconfig, turn on Wondows install service and then remove Defensewallhips. Afterwards, both PCs booted OK, but I have been having problems installing with the registry key is invalid. Don't know if the problems started with Defensewallhips or if the problems were caused by a previous program and in turn, caused the problems with Defensewallhips installation????
To the moderator(s): I would really like to start an ongoing thread to report problems users have had with any GAOTD programs, both before and after the day of activation. Frequently, If a user tried to install later in the day, and has a problem, thier comments under that days giveaway may not get a response from the other posters. Additionally, if they install, but don't get a chance to use the program until another day or week, there should be a "problem forum" where everyone could go to discuss solutions, even weeks later.
BTW, Thanks for this service.
