Lester (Chip) on "GOTD Forum Avatar Upload"

Step 1:
Go to http://www.gravatar.com and click on the button that says "Get your Gravatar today!"

Step 2:
On the signup page enter in the email address you use for GOTD. It must be the same for this to work.

Step 3:
After confirming your email add an image to use with that email address.

ATTENTION: The screen name you choose for this service DOES NOT have to be the same one you use here on the forums. It can be if you want but if the one you use isn't available then simply choose another one. The only thing that has to match is the email address you use. As long as you provide the same email for "Gravatar" and on these forums in your profile settings then your avatar will show up. Thanks.

After a minute or two the changes will take place and you will have your own avatar here on the forums. You can go to that site and change your image whenever you want. This image will be used on any service that uses "Gravatar" including these forums. Hopefully GOTD will add a link to the signup page in your edit section so everyone knows how to do this. But until then, now you know. Just remember to keep your images G-rated because the GOTD community is for all ages. Thank you and enjoy.

I wish I had the time to create a synopsis similar to the ones that G@rgoyle has done for the games and browser games, but I know she took quite some time to prepare them. maybe i'll work on it slowly then post it next year, lol.

I'm SURE that a Master listing of Freeware / Open-Source applications would be a terrific time-saver for many computer users, if it were possible to compile. Here's my addition (which I THINK hasn't been mentioned yet). http://www.cnet.com has an annual survey for selecting the best Web 2.0 Internet applications. The survey relies on votes sent it by users worldwide. The 2009 results are posted here.

My opera browser had saved the page when i quit yesterday and when i reopened Opera the forum page with the link and code was still available to me, so I have made screen shots of it. Dont know whether i am going to make any further use of it.
If the software looks and works well, i really wonder why that thread had to disappear. May be software vendors are not allowed to giveaway their wares on the forum (without the sites permission). May be it is going to come back as a giveaway some day. Just idle speculation!

Same here, Samm.
It could be a very useful tool, but I'm a bit leery of installing it, as the registration info is a bit confusing, and mainly, the "site" suggests it'd have to be done during "store" hours, ie:9-5 mon-fri. (Bejing time) . . . is it Monday there yet? or Friday afternoon?
Never seen that condition before.

"You can see books in Full View if the book is out of copyright, or if the publisher or author has asked to make the book fully viewable. The Full View allows you to view any page from the book, and if the book is in the public domain, you can download, save and print a PDF version to read at your own pace."

It's actually a great reference source too, because all the books are searchable, and even many of the ones still under copyright will show relevant snippets, that can be several pages long. Great for research projects, or just general reference.

Shoulda sowed this one the other day, but the danged dibble poked a hole in my seed sack and I only just realized the EVERNOTE Press Release seed done did already germinate back on the path and caused a 9-cycle pile-up. Serves those mountain bikers right for speeding!

For those of you who haven't yet come across the infamous Gizmo, go to this link to find "The Best-ever Freeware Utilities" list. Something for everyone. Whilst you're there sign up to his free Newsletter; it is truly brilliant! I would subsequently recommend that you sign up to the 'Premium Edition' - unsurpassable value for the wannabe Geeks! It's okay I'm not on the payroll - just an ardent fan!!

The link for the Freeware is - http://www.techsupportalert.com/

FWIW, Johnny Appleseed sowed a couple of FREE E-Book seeds over here.

Several threads deal with books, and glumpki-for-brains always seems to sow his seeds on the least apropos. Sigh
