I'd suggest to install Online Armor again.(www.tallemu.com)
Make sure to allow future GOTD's setup.exe or activate.exe (and other programs),the rule settings being "install mode" and "trusted" program.
If you forget one of those settings you won't be able to activate/install.

What did you do, Scooter? It's hard to give you any further suggestions without knowing what you actually did? Did you do all the suggestions or which ones, and how did you do them? What did you actually do? And by the way, it would help to know what OS you have. There are a number of differences between Vista and XP, and a lot advice on one would be inadequate for the other. What browser(s) or you using? Do you have any other firewalls or security software that might have a bearing on giving you a solution? In any case, I'd start with Whiterabbit's restore point suggestion if you've got one that far back and it won't mess up so many things that you have done since then that it would be more trouble than it's worth.

Hi scooter123 - do you create regular restore points? If you do then I'd restore to a previous time.

As a matter of course I tend to create one whenever i'm installing security software or other software I'm not certain about. I'd consider getting a program that'll create a virtual PC such as Returnil (which is a previous giveaway ), and testing each program so that if something untoward does happen you just turn the virtual PC of. If the program works fine in the virtual pc thenm install it to you pc proper. I realize this doesn't actually answer your query; but maybe it'll be a solution for the future.

I got into the habit after having a similar problem several months ago. I fixed it by wiping my hard drive (formatting) then reinstalling what I could.

Good luck

regards

Nope, it didn't work for me, how about you Nicole?

Any other ideas, and is anyone else having this problem other than Nicole and myself?

I hope there is a workaround, I really like GOTD and have missed some stuff I would have like to have in the last few weeks.

I would start with Whiterabbit's suggestion and clear your browser cache.

It could also have changed your Internet Explorer settings. What I would do next is to install the free Firefox browser, if you don't already have it:
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/ie.html?from=getfirefox
and try to download today's software with that. That way, if it works, you'll not only know that Online Armor messed up your IE settings, but you'll be able to try and fix them at your leisure, while still being able to get the GOTDs.

And if Firefox doesn't work, you'll know that Online Armor changed some of your other settings and we may be able to help you track them down. Besides, a LOT of people like Firefox better than IE, anyway. Do you have another firewall? Online Armor may have changed some of it's settings. I don't remember if Win 2000 shipped with the Windows Firewall. I think that started with XP. You may also have not gotten a clean install of Online Armor, and some part of it may be still there blocking you. It may have even changed what are called Internet Protocol Security Policies (IPSec).

In any case, I'd clear my browser(s) and try Firefox if you haven't. Then we can go from there. And check any other firewalls if you know how to get to them and check the settings. Good luck and keep us informed. We'll do our best to help.

Hi Nicole,
sorry to hear about the problems you are encountering.

Try cleaning out your internet cache. If you run internet explorer this can be done by right clicking on the ie icon and selecting internet properties from the drop down menu. If your running Firefox, I think you have to go to tools and select from there but not 100% sure as it's been some time since I ran firefox.

Following the above should bring up a window which enables you to clear your browser history, cleanes out the internet cache, saved passwords plus more. You can select specific areas to delete iof you don't want to lose your passwords for example, but it's always recommened to clear everything.

If this doesn't work try changing your windows security settings. It maybe that these were changed when you installed online armour? but I'm only hazarding a guess there.

I hope this helps. Let us know if it does. Thanks

After installing Online Armor I cannot activate giveawayoftheday programs on my Windows 2000 Pro pc anymore. Before that I never had a problem. I haven't been able to install any giveawayoftheday programs since then, including today's Paragon Drive Copy.

The activation program tries to connect to this website and then Setup shows Failed to connect. Please try again later. I deinstalled Online Armor, but the problem didn't go away. I didn't change anything else on my pc - I hardly use it for anything else then using nice software like from this site - and Paragon Drive Copy is something I could very much need soon. Please help me install giveawayoftheday programs again!
