Thanks BuBBy,
I just set the clock back to 2007 and it's the full version. If I correct to 2008 again it reverts to the trial. So it looks like it's exactly what you said.
I guess now we'll have to wait for either a patch or an update.

I'd take a punt and see (just out of curiosity) what happens if you set your system clock back to December 2007 (for arguments sake) and see if it "comes back to life".

I haven't got it installed now, so I can't really check it - but we have seen it with one or two other giveaways when developers "forgot" about some "autoexpire" logic in their program (perhaps to ensure old versions aren't left in use - and users get an updated version maybe once a year for example).

Maybe the GOTD Team can get in touch with those developers to see if we can either get an update - or get the old version with the "autoexpire" code disabled.

The same here, suddenly it is an unregistered Version
So you are not alone Mike

Thanks for the reply emperor, now I know I'm not alone and probably there are others as well. :)

I managed to track down the registration details used for this particular giveaway (name: Giveawayoftheday, I won't post the serial though, you know, rules) for version 1.2 run in September. And it looks to be correct.

The reason I'm posting this is that it doesn't work (any more ?). I've seen in the past that broken giveaways were rerun. If this is in fact the fault of the developer, this should be rerun as well.

Here's the error:

---------------------------
Equation Wizard
---------------------------
This license key does not work with this program version because the period of available updates has expired.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

And before anyone asks, yes, I'm sure I didn't update the program.

Any word from an admin ? (BuBBy ?)

Mike,
I had the same problem a couple of months ago. I can't recall the thread, but I think we are not the only ones for whom it reverted to the trial version.
I couldn't work out how to get it re-registered, so I ended up removing it, reluctantly.

not off the top of my head, but M$ breaks stuff all the time, *I* think they do it for fun.

And with XP/Vista they can do it by remote control.

One of the reasons I'm sticking with win2ksp4.

Seeing as nothing else is broken I think I can that rule out.

Just took a peek into the registry and Equation Wizard's entries are still there. I tried to copy/paste the registration key into the program but it doesn't accept it.

Anything else ?

I got this in September 2007 (version 1.2) and now it reverted to the trial version. Back then I activated it fine and used it ever since with no problems. Now it says I have 30 solvings left.

Windows XP pro, all updates; I haven't installed/uninstalled anything important and all the giveaways I have work fine. So I'm inclined to think the license may have expired due to some fault from the developer.

Can anyone who has it check if it's still activated on their computer ?

Any suggestions ?
