To answer your question (if you are still interested, that is - I've been out of the loop for a short while and only saw your post this evening): Since this thread has been started I have gotten to experience Twisted Brush in all its forms and glory. I wound up purchasing the Essentials version and then decided to purchase the full license. Even so, I still have kept, and use, the earlier free version. Which is more useful? That depends, I think, on what type of art you are trying to do. Now this is only my opinion, but it seems to me that the new TB is aimed more at the traditional, painterly approach and real natural media simulation. The older free version has that as well, but the brush collections are a lot wilder, and more abstract - great stuff to bring out the inner Escher, but a lot harder to use in your average still life! I'm not always that great with words, so.....the following is a quote from a correspondence I had with the developer, he explains it better:

"...the new "Free Edition" has changed. It is based on the same current version of TwistedBrush 13.5 that is available in the Essentials and standard editions. This was done because the older version while it had more features did not highlight (in my opinion) the strengths of the later versions of TwistedBrush. The quality of the brushes, the interface, numerous improvements and fixes. It was a bit of a trade off to make this decision...."

And I agree - it was a trade off. Some of the brushes from 3.5 have survived, but even with over 4000 brushes (yup, that many) I still miss some of the ones that didn't. As for Essentials, well, its a good deal for the money, but its still not as full featured as the 3.5, even with all its upgrades.

nanook - did you get your chance to play yet? What do you think? And yes, I would have sent it to you, but thanks to BuBBy (again!) it didn't come to that :-)

even went to the Pixara forum to no avail, mine too got down the drain when I have to make an urgent complete reformat on my machine, of course I had no back up of it.

Would per chance anyone have another link, or would be willing to upload their free 3.5 version to a website like mediafire.com or even rapidshare or any other of their choice then either post the link or pm me with it, I would be eternally grateful.

I prefer to d/l GOTD's software from "Mirror #1" rather than "Download Now" link as it doesn't navigate me away from their page, as in while d/l the software, I can read some of the comments posted. and it seems much faster too....

I know it's not unique, but I'm known very well on-air continentally and a couple global contacts on occasion (2-way radio) by BigThunder and have been for years (no I haven't been on-the-air in the last couple years). I really wanted that to be my screen name, but as stated it was already taken. At the time I was a total nOOb to the www and these things. Perseverance my friend, perseverance.

Glad you weren't offended! Simply my poor spelling and oversight; apologies. I poke a little fun once in a while when it's obvious, or least I hope it is at the time! No sir, I don't make fun of people in that regard or play head games with folks (well...seldom) (or mess with their screen/user names). It was purely an accident of oversight. I try very hard to respect things of this nature and I'm glad Keilaron pointed it out to me.

Speaking of whom, I think Keilaron was miffed at my comment about my own screen/user name (obvious by the response). Respect and spelling of ones screen/user name / ID is one of my pet peeves and as evidenced, I defend mine without hesitation. I'll probably get razzed by some for my comment(s) simply by opening that can of worms, but give an inch and most take a mile with liberties. I respect others names and demand such in return because of the harassment I received over that little ID fiasco years back. I felt an explanation was due because of my request, against my better judgment; at the same time I wasn't going to make up a story or lie about it and I wasn't going to lay down and trade my ID of years for something other because of a scumbag that happened to already be using it on-line. It was very difficult defending myself over that 'butt wipes' character and on-line presence, and hopefully all will respect who I am in contrast to that moron and his blatant distasteful interests.

I can see why Jucati is a "spelling freak" as she stated. She is an excellent artist and I imagine an total perfectionist. You should click on her username and check out her website. I did and am amazed at her work.

My hats off to you Jucati. You have an ability that I sure don't have.

A bit surprised at your reply. If it wasn't for that other person I wouldn't concern myself and actually prefer it without the number 1. My request is the result of that very thing happening on another board several years ago, which is when I learned of this other person and I vowed I wouldn't allow that to happen again. This is the reason I stay on top of it. If I let it go, then it begins all over and I just want to avoid any conflict.

Please include the numeral 1 (one) when using or referring to my screen name BigThunder1. There is another person that apparently uses the same screen name without that and if googled you'll see this person is into some things I'm not, such as porn and the like. I've had the 2-way radio handle BigThunder for years, but on-line this was already taken when I applied so I had to add the numeral 1 to it. Last I checked, it appeared this other person isn't active anymore; or at least hasn't been in the last couple years or so, and I don't want to be associated with that scum bag character or be 'blamed / accused' of being that person.
