I wish I had the time to create a synopsis similar to the ones that G@rgoyle has done for the games and browser games, but I know she took quite some time to prepare them. maybe i'll work on it slowly then post it next year, lol.

I'm SURE that a Master listing of Freeware / Open-Source applications would be a terrific time-saver for many computer users, if it were possible to compile. Here's my addition (which I THINK hasn't been mentioned yet). http://www.cnet.com has an annual survey for selecting the best Web 2.0 Internet applications. The survey relies on votes sent it by users worldwide. The 2009 results are posted here.

I really like theleecher's idea. So many comments are of the "who needs this?" sort. Well, if I'm reading the comments, I'm interested in the software, so I don't care who else needs it; I want to know how well it does what it says it will do.

For the site overall though, I would think it would be useful to have some stats on what people want and don't want. If each of theleecher's radio button questions was followed by a why/why not comment location, perhaps commenters could manage to respond in the correct location.

For example:
( )I'll take it
(X)I'll leave it
Why/why not? another @#$in screensaver

Or:
(x)I'll take it
( )I'll leave it
Why/why not?

( )Good program
(x)Bad program
Why? doesn't have as many features as GreatProgram 2.1, which is free

How to resolve the thumbs up, thumbs down issues:

Have two scores:
1. I'll take it / I'll leave it

Then only for those responding "I'll take it"
2. Good program / Bad program

In most cases, the thumbs up/down scores at the moment are merely a popularity contest, and few things will be popular with everyone.

Actually, he could drag the .ini file (not the .exe!) into Notepad and then copy & paste what is in it to the body of the email.

I don't need the .exe file that comes in the .zip you downloaded from my site. That would not help me find the trouble.

When you run ClutterBuster the first time, it creates an .ini settings file with the info of what should be displayed on each button. That is the file I wanted to see.

Thanx for the response app103....
1-I'm not using Vista, my desktop computer is a Windows XP Pro, and my laptop is Windows XP home, so that cant be it....

2- No on this one as well, just use program shortcuts on the desktop, all my program folders are in my Programs folder, so that cant be it either....

I will try what you suggested and put the program file with the other programs....

That is a PAD file, not a page meant to be viewed in your browser. It isn't meant to have style information. Software sites use PAD files to get the info they display about an application on their site. If the info in the PAD file changes, like when there is a new version released, the info on the software site will change as well. You can read more about PAD files here: http://www.asp-shareware.org/pad/

@ fullbug:

Without more information I can't tell you what the problem is, but there are 2 things I can think of off the top of my head that could cause an issue with running ClutterBuster:

1. You are trying to run it on Vista. I do not claim Vista compatibility in any of my applications. I can't. I don't own a copy of Vista, nor do I own a computer that can run Vista, so I have no way of testing if anything will work on Vista. I can tell you it will run quite well on an 11 old P1 233mhz, with 64mb ram, and Win9x, though...because that happens to be what I was using when I created the application.

2. You have a habit of storing files on your desktop, rather than shortcuts to the files. This is a very common Windows user mistake. The desktop was not designed to store files and one should not keep files there. Only shortcuts to files should be kept on your desktop. There can be issues with things going wrong when running applications in which the location of the .exe file is directly on the desktop, especially if the application has settings stored in another file or the registry, which would be the case with ClutterBuster. Solution: Place the ClutterBuster.exe file somewhere else on your hard drive and create a shortcut to it on your desktop, instead.

If neither of these are your problem, you can find my email address on the Contact page of my site to contact me directly, and we can find out why ClutterBuster is not working for you.

Nice site....
I was hoping to find ClutterBuster handy, but after putting a few icons in, it disappeared....
Now when I click on it, it just quickly flickers on the screen, and then disappears again, not sure what the problem is, tried re-downloading it again, still the same thing....
