Bummer, that's a shame.

I haven't checked my E-mails yet. Still I'll check out the bundle. when I finally get my compensation i may even be able to afford another large outlay (I bought CS when it frst came out as I'd loved the earlier version PS7) That was the most I'd ever spent on a software package; but in my opinion money well spent as to do the same stuff with traditional photography wold have cost many thousands (and then a lot would never have been possible. It's about time I got back into it as I've hardly ever used my tablet since the accident.

I've been off line for a week due again to messing with my hardware and further cleaning of the insides of each computer. It's remarkable how quick the insides accumulate dust and fluff. I'm almost finished updating them thankfully. I'm just waiting for a new case and some extra cooling fans (some I've not seen before that slot into the bays at the back)so that i can built up my final one for the next year or so (that is until the quad cores come down in price a little, lol). I find it annoying that most changes always seem to require everything else changing. I've just given away an old 1.5Gh machine and have another MoBo with a 1.8GHz cpu that is probably going to go in the bin as I've no space for it. I've finally got a nice set of computers that should play all of the most recent games (apart from the slowest, a 2.2GHz cpu with a graphics card with only pixel shader 2.O, which I can't beleive was actually my main computer last year). I've been meaning to set up a small LAN for my son and his friends, but went overboard a little, lol. ('scuse the waffle)

Long time no see, Wabbit. Was about to post an update when I saw your (possibly premature) kudos...

UPDATE: The bloody software from RightHemisphere comes with a "30-day trial then disable" feature. The retail cost is $595.

Sometimes I should just remain quiet and lurk.

Thanks to both of you (RSM and FF) for your excellent and very useful posts. I will be finally reinstalling my own image programs, which I lost interest in following my rta back in Sept 05. I'm attempting to download the lite version of Art Rage and have registered with RightHemisphere.com and hope to get the entertainment bundle soon. I really appreciate the time you both put into researching and finding these great softwares. Also I find reading your threads entertaining as well. :)

True, true, all you said... Probably not worth the effort in the long run. Bottom line is that there are not that many programs which fall into the category of Deep Paint anyway, I would imagine.

OK, I'm off for another project. See ya later, bud.

Knowing human nature as I do, I suspect someone would try to kill the golden goose by posting info that violates GAOTD's TOS, if you know what I mean. Still, your basic premise is good if you strictly control what gets posted/uploaded.

Not sure of the liabilities involved, say if you're the conduit for something buggy that ends up even inadvertantly damaging someone's PC. A site disclaimer isn't worth a dime (or a damn) in the US where anyone can sue anyone for anything and corrupt ambulance chasers advertise their lust for the almighty devalued dollar.

As you know, there exists already a site that stores old programs (the link's been posted here a couple times, I just don't have it at my fingertips) as well as a plethora of blogs and gamey sites that display graphics, but that shouldn't dissuade you from launching something similar.

Hello again, RM. Wow, that's a lot of effort you invested. My hat's off to you for that. I really didn't mind upping that file for the CM, it was no problem.

Matter of fact, it got me to thinking how it might be cool to have a sort of Forum Upload Repository to make things like that available for forum members. Sort of an exchange board for freeware that is obscure or hard to find... Maybe even contain some original artwork or things of that nature that board members wanted to share..

What are your thoughts on something like that?

FwF - there may be a way to save you from having to upload it for everyone else who wants a copy. Had to dig and drill like an 18th century coal miner with black lung disease, but it looks as if righthemisphere.com still offers the trial here (bubby, this isn't an autodownloader page!) if you fill out their datamining form in triplicate and check the entertainment bundle button at the bottom -
http://www.righthemisphere.com/support/downloads/download.php

Caveat: Haven't tried it myself, yet, so don't know what their definition of "evaluate" means, i.e.,
"free unlimited trial",
"you can play but you can't save",
"3 uses and you're out",
"15-days from now, when you're hooked, you'll have to pay through the nose"

PS - I notified the German Download.com site of the problem, using http://www.freetranslation.com. (now, LeKanaw, don't laugh!) Either they'll understand and make the change, or charge me with a crime for butchering their native language! Regards my quest for edges and frames, yep, I'm hoping hamstergirl sees it although I'm also hoping for something that's not littered with gerbil pellets and pawprints. :-)

@ TheComputerMan I just had a look through my backups, and went to the link where I downloaded my copy of Deep Paint 2.0, and the link has been removed from Download.com . I'm not sure why that would be, but I'm willing to do something for you, if it doesn't break policy with this forum.

I can upload the file somewhere for you to pick up, if you'd like? Just set up an account somewhere, and let me have the relevant information, and I'll upload a copy for you. Seeing as how it was a completely free program when it was available, I do not think I would be breaking any laws of the land, or rules of this forum.

I tried to get that defrag 6.5 from the one link, but I am redirected to http://www.oo-software.com/home/fr/ (which I am sure the downloads there are only trials). Thanks anyway, but for some reason I can't get to the form to get it.

O&O Defrag 4 is really good even though it's an old version it still works great and has a lot of features in it. I'm glad someone got the offer anyway.

Thanks Alex, but for some reason I can't get to that link that was posted with the form it redirects me.

Hello Michelle!

Thanks for that information, I've been looking for a professional defrag utility, and this looks to be just the thing. I followed your instructions, and received my license code from O&O just fine, however I have one small problem. I cannot find a link to now download O&O Defrag V4 Pro... The download link on their page just lists version 10 of the utility. I've done a Google for it, but only come up with a German version. Would you please provide me with the link to download V4, so I can give it a whirl? Many thanks!!

A german form isn't there to, but i got a serial! use this site and fill out the fields with anything you want with a right emailadress. after that you will get a serial, which works with all versions of O&O Defrag 6.5.

I don't think I was the one who posted that to O&O Defrag 6.5. I remember trying to get that offer, but I had problems maybe because I used a yahoo e-mail address, I don't know. To tell you the truth I like 4 and it works great with http://www.iolo.com/ads/vnu/sm6promo.aspx (that I did post) and you can still get it for free. System Mechanic also has a defrag, but I don't like the defrag utility in SM 6 because when I defrag my hard drive and run chkdsk and defrag with the SM defrag the system mechanic fitness and drive health is still down. I am glad you are happy with what you have though, if you don't have SM6 that is good too and you can get that for free too.

I will look again though to see if you can still get that 6.5, but if others look and find that offer doesn't exist now, they can use the link up above to get 4 which is really good as well.

I'm running 4.0 on windows XP Home Edition SP2 and it's running fine, but I will look. Thank you.

Hi Michelle,

A while back somebody posted a similar post to yours. When I got the free version it was O&O Defrag version 6.5 Pro build 851 and in my opinion it is the best defrag program I have ever used.

You may want to do a search for O&O software in these forums because I also got O&O DiskRecovery version 3.0 personal edition build 835 from another post that pointed to the offer.

HTH,

-Mario

only version 4 but it still has many features for such an older version. http://www.oo-software.com/en/special/defrag4/register_frm.html

I downloaded it and ran it and it did a good job.

I had problems when I gave them my yahoo e-mail address as in I couldn't find the e-mail with the information so I used my msn e-mail and had no problems.

Make sure you save the information they send you so if you need to reinstall you can do that.

Hi everybody,

brillobro - can't stop laughing - old and full - heh hehe hee......thank you!
To answer your question (if you are still interested, that is - I've been out of the loop for a short while and only saw your post this evening): Since this thread has been started I have gotten to experience Twisted Brush in all its forms and glory. I wound up purchasing the Essentials version and then decided to purchase the full license. Even so, I still have kept, and use, the earlier free version. Which is more useful? That depends, I think, on what type of art you are trying to do. Now this is only my opinion, but it seems to me that the new TB is aimed more at the traditional, painterly approach and real natural media simulation. The older free version has that as well, but the brush collections are a lot wilder, and more abstract - great stuff to bring out the inner Escher, but a lot harder to use in your average still life! I'm not always that great with words, so.....the following is a quote from a correspondence I had with the developer, he explains it better:

"...the new "Free Edition" has changed. It is based on the same current version of TwistedBrush 13.5 that is available in the Essentials and standard editions. This was done because the older version while it had more features did not highlight (in my opinion) the strengths of the later versions of TwistedBrush. The quality of the brushes, the interface, numerous improvements and fixes. It was a bit of a trade off to make this decision...."

And I agree - it was a trade off. Some of the brushes from 3.5 have survived, but even with over 4000 brushes (yup, that many) I still miss some of the ones that didn't. As for Essentials, well, its a good deal for the money, but its still not as full featured as the 3.5, even with all its upgrades.

nanook - did you get your chance to play yet? What do you think? And yes, I would have sent it to you, but thanks to BuBBy (again!) it didn't come to that :-)

Cheers,
