Hi everyone,

I just joined and I am not a technical person, but I can handle downloads, routine maintenance, and hunting down some of the "easier" problems that arise. To my several circles of barely-computer literate friends I sometimes appear the genius. Hah!

I noticed in my profile that my "member since" is Dec. 31, 2006 although calendars tell me it is still Dec 30th and 5:20 p.m. here in the U.S. central time zone.

That might an entirely different quirk, but it did cause me to wonder what the 24 hour "day" was. I'm assuming midnight-midnight but in which time zone? I work with time zones a lot and can easily convert to my own circumstances but I would really, really like to know where or when the base day begins and ends.

Thanks much.
Sunfish

Thank you for giving us a chance to participate in the Giveaway of the day in spite of system errors. I was able to download and install Astra32 and I fell very good knowing that in situations like these the administrators are willing to work with us to resolve problems even though they don't really have to. I am loving the Giveaway of the day site more and more everyday.

I appreciate your effort to inform us about the problem. The new download is already up, so it seems that we will not have access to ASTRA and it looks like a lot of folks wanted it, but I know, you can't look at a free horse in the mouth...

Might be a hype-builder.

After all, it is now 21 December, just a few days before Christmas... ;)

On an aside, to a particular user who has a rather negative bend on his complaints about the Giveaway of the Day being unavailable:
Get over yourself, please.
We're all in the free soup line here, and your complaint sounds like you're squawking over not getting a double serving with two loaves of bread, AND some butter on the side.
If you can't snag ASTRA, then well... look around for other free solutions, like I'm sure you were doing before this site popped up, and would have done tomorrow if you missed the giveaway today. ;/

-- Just my two cents.

s/w? You mean giveaways? There was probably just a glitch with the counters today and admin isn't awake yet and hasn't noticed. Admin is probably going to put the new ones up in about 40-100 minutes.

I agree. I have always been able to get the GAOTD until 3amEST. I would like to have the ASTRA32 program, but its not available at 12:30 am. Maybe you should have notified us about a change. NOT a good business practice. AND there is NO giveaway of the day NOW at all..... Please explain.

I'm Arizona-time too and was dismayed by not being able to download the software as well. In the past it has be available until midnight Pacific time (EST+3) but I'm not sure what it is now. I registered for this forum a few minutes ago and when I edited my profile, I noticed that it said that the date was Dec 21st even though it is not that time (here, CST, MST, or PST) yet.

Can the website managers post an official announcement indicating what time zone it ties the midnight deadline to?

I was really looking forward to downloading the ASTRA program.

I had this same problem today with the Game of the Day, Astro Fury. I'm hoping that they haven't gotten to the point that there will only be a set number of free downloads allowed per day. I've really enjoyed the service this site has done up until this problem today. Maybe it's just a glitch and it'll be resolved soon? If so, will today's giveaways be offered again, or extended?

Presentlt 11.00 pm Eastern Daylight in my Region. What gives with the Giveaway not available at this time. What formula are you using to calculate your time.
I was of the opinion that a day consists of 24 Hours.
I have downloaded previous Apps at this same time and never had this problem.
Keep up the good-work.But please clarify this for me.
The Program in question was Astra32 which was unavailable at this time?
