Walkerpbus. For example you are on a vacation and not able to check giveaway site for a day you cannot download and activate the software in that case you can look at the previous giveaway comments and look for a better software which is free and with more facilities.

List of favorites is rather long (obviously the "most favorite" GOTD ones - I have purchased).

I'm only listing the ones (I remember) that I have purchased/non-GOTD releases (many as a direct result of the GOTD promotion). Where I purchased a license when a DIFFERENT program from the same developer was on GOTD - I put the GOTD promotion title in brackets.

Just goes to show when the software appears on GOTD (and it is good - I'm usually a tough judge) - it results in sales. When I see potential or I have a serious interest in the software - I may offer to help testing and reviewing new versions (my professional background is in software development).

I though I'd resurrect this thread. Rather than list the top three programs you've found most useful just list those that you've found useful over the last few years or since you started visiting the giveaway project, and those that you've purchased (if any)

My list isn't in any order of preference. I've starred those that I've purchased (Though to be honest I can't remember all of the ones I've purchased)

1) Zoner Photo Studio 13 (loved this ever since we got version 9 and haven't bothered to install my copy of Photoshops since using it. It doesn't have most of what Photoshops has, but it does have everything I need for simple photo editing)

2) Robotask

3) Paragon Partition Manager

4) Magic score

5) Driver Magician

6) Outpost Security Suite (considering subscribing when year is up)

7) Aston 2

8) Mamutu (considering subscribing when year is up)

9) Paragon Backup & Recovery (love the rescue disc) & Paragon Rescue Kit Pro

10) Process Lasso *

11) Game Booster Premium

12) Dark Castle, Ancient Castle, Dinosaur, Nautilus, Planet Earth 3D, Planet Jupiter, Solar System - Earth 3D, Solar system 3D, The Lost Watch, Sun Village, Moon 3D, Mars 3D, and Mechanical Clock 3D Screensavers (led me to purchase a few others)

13) Multiset

14) Ay Recovery (I purchased an earlier version of this called Eaz Fix) *

15) Hippo Edit

16) Sticky Password

17) Returnil Virtual system

18) Photo Colorizer

19) InPaint

20) Tabbles

21) Daemon Tools Pro

22) Atmosphere *

23) Folder Marker Pro *

24) Easy Macro Recorder

25) Anvir Task Manager * (went on to purchase Anvir Security Suite with three years of sun=bscription to the antivirus part of the ptrrogrm. Still undecided about which is best Anvir or Process Lasso though Lasso doesn't have the AV addition)

26) Buffer Zone (not sure which I prefer Buffer Zone or Returnil intend to purchase oe of them when I can afford to)

27) All Media Grabber

28) Keriver Image (ended up purchasing Acronis after trying this one out)

29) Double Safety

30) Advanced URL Catalog

31) Bee Icons

32) Starburn v12

33) Picture Collage Maker

34) Morpheus Photo Morpher *

35) SWF & FLV toolbox

36) Total Network Monitor

37) PD Particles

38) Evernote (considerig purchasing this one)

39) Frigate 3

40) Liquid Story Binder XE

Please get rid of that annoying "Stickr" software on GOTD pages! Although it could be useful on the right websites - those where people share a common degree of seriousness (or lack of it) about their participation - on pages open to everyone, the lowest common denominator ends up setting the tone and taking up lots of space - purely to annoy others and waste their time.

Kaman25 you said:
<If I had a complaint it would be that screen savers don't turn me on. Although it would be kewl to have one that you could put keywords into and have it display random pictures from the Internet. Something that would come on and save the screen but also have some function.>

Check these two links out,
http://flickrvision.com/
http://play.blogger.com/

All you would need then is a program to open the window and go to the link when you have been away from your computer after a set time. There is probably a script out there somewhere that will do just that.

Top 3:

Liquid Story Binder XE - Has a bit of a learning curve, but a really good tool for writers with storyboards, multimedia organization and especially self-publishers who want to format their work prior to publishing. Just a great tool to keep everything together.

BusinessCardsMX3 - Easily made some nice introduction type cards. (I don't have a business per se but I work contract and am open to getting a permanent job, so it's nice when networking to have a professional looking card to hand out.)

Evernote (which is free now...but I think I prefer the older version in some ways--I miss the flagging features.)

Easily my favourite downloaded programme from GAOTD is DemoCreator. I often get asked by friends "How do I..." do this or that on the computer. I used to have to type directions, step by step, click by click, describing each page as it appears. It took quite a while to formulate a helpful reply. Then I downloaded DemoCreator. Now, to answer a question, I start that programme then just do everything that I would otherwise have told the requester by email. I end up emailing the product, which is basically a video (.swf file) of what I did with my voice giving directions in the background. It wows my friends, is very helpful to them, and makes me look like a wizard. It's a fabulous programme. By the way, I did correspond with the makers of the programme and they were really great people to deal with. They are clearly working very hard to produce a good product.

Bonjour Goody :*)

Yes Yes Yes, I do know *exactly* what you are talking about!!!!
There is like a Point de non-retour, probably different for everybody.
If you get in that zone, it's hell.
Like you said, it's like the switch gets stuck on "ON" and then we just keep going & going ... ...

I did a 6 day stretch in the mid-80's, end of October. It was hard enough that I still remember it clearly. Happened just *ONCE*, got me scared.

I kept working during all of it. Unable to do that anymore, body refuses to follow!!

My usual is 2 to 3 days. If your usual is 4 days, must be very tough indeed, specially if you keep on going to 60-72 and more.

Yeah, mind becomes fuzzy, don't know what's real or not, drifting in & out. Very confusing!!!
Agreed, not the good kind of *Fuzzy* at all ...

You telling me you managed to drive like that? You must have been scared, oui?

Past a certain point can't eat either, staring at walls seems interesting :*) In the beginning I keep blabbing & giggling, then go very quite. Then get in a very bad mood :-(

What do you do when you are in the middle of it? You just go on as usual?
Is there something you do that helps stop it?

Anyway, glad to know there is somebody out there that understands what I'm talking about, cause when I say I'm stuck "ON" or I'm fuzzy, ppl think I'm loopy ...
Well, yes I am loopy :D - But not that kind of loopy ...

Ciao
Awake Mangoette

LeKanaw, where did I send you wrong? sorry about that, anyway.

FWIW, if I have a 'white night' and can't get to sleep, the best I can hope for is 42-44 hours up- as soon as I pass 45 hours, I'm stuck 'on' (not sleepy anymore- tired, some) and fall over between 60 and 72 hours. drives the wife nuts.

I've had to push it a time or three on the road and start hallucinating a bit when I get to 95 hours- not good ones, alas.

Bonsoir Goody :*)

You are bad!! :-(
You sent me on a voyage yesterday that lasted many hours!!!
And when I say many hours, I really mean it, since I had one of those insomnias ...
Was up for ~34hrs, again !!! *sigh*

Anyway, your link sent me to that thread, that I hadn't followed that close.
It's links galore in there!!!!!
So then got to Lady Gray's post ... Oh boy!!!
Well, her links led me to another and another and on it went ...
In the meantime got lost in the InterTubes, had 2 FF opened w tons of tabs each ...
Kept bumping into lots of interesting articles & tutôs.
Haven't finished yet, have BMed *entire* sessions to got back and read more!

Just wanted to say: I hate you!!! There, I said it!!
Bwaaahaahaaa

Huhmm, also wanted to Thank you :D
Got a lot of answers I didn't even had the questions for yet ;-)

Ciao

Salut Goody

Indeed!!
Couldn't have said it better myself.

Wassup w all this complaining?
I can't even imagine how difficult it must be to find Softs/Games every damn day!!
Let alone control what other promotions/offers these cies &/or distributors decide to do elsewhere ...

Some people have no business sense!! Grrrr
This gimme gimme attitude is getting on my nerves!!!!!!

I guess it bears repeatimg:

there seem to be some posters that just don't grok that the goatd team isn't in control of what's offered. or the exact conditions. they can ask but not compel.

if tou want better stuff, ask authors of software you want to see if they would consider a giveaway for the coverage and advertisement value- just be real polite.

that's my suggestion for keeping gaotd viable.

be part of a solution and voluntarily join the team rather than carping about lack of relevant giveaways.

Much as I like GOTD I think it a bit deceptive to represent limited versions, freely downloadable elsewhere, as 'give-aways'.

Some great software has been given away, but my favorites are

xStarter, an amazing tast maker

Smart Type Assistant, which has features like auto-correct and spell checker that work in any program, as well as a very useful "Smart Diary", which acts as a personal keylogger

Hide Window Plus, which includes keyboard shortcuts to make any window just disappear, but still be "open"
