This GiveAway of 18.Sept. is malicious für users with Win 7 Pro 64bit with FireFox and SeaMonkey..
Installation seems no problem, but after that it requests the installation of Flash Player ActiveX Control.
So I went to the Adobe page http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ There is nothing to read about an ActiveX plugin, the only download offered was
http://get.adobe.com/de/flashplayer/download/?installer=Flash_Player_11_for_Other_Browsers&os=Windows%207&browser_type=Gecko&browser_dist=Firefox&d=McAfee_Security_Scan_Plus_FireFox_Browser&dualoffer=false
After installing this I noticed:
On my SeaMonkey the flash videos were left blank.
My FireFox 15sticked after loading and it was necessary to install it from new.
After that I had to de-install the newly installed Flash Player and to go back to version 10.3. as described in
http://www.pctipp.ch/_misc/print/article_print.cfm?pk=62714
To get things working again I need 1,5 hours of my precious time.
Not to say that after this operatin my Internet Explorer did also no more flash videos.
(I don't use it either) with the message that Flash Player version 10 was missing (even after I installed it some minutes before) but guided me to go to the Adobe download site mentioned above.
Brrrh, no more of this !

Hi Sue,dr mabuse,GM...

No problems over here either.
If in doubt you can always look for a second opinion and upload files to http://www.virustotal.com
(the file will be scanned with 41 different antivirus engines and the result will give you a pretty good idea if it's false positive or not)

That particular hit is often a false positive caused by Avira's heuristic detection routine. I've seen it more than once. If you're not familiar, heuristics are designed to try and identify new, never before identified viruses, but often hit on normal, built in behaviors of the software. Still, no problem with being cautious if you'd rather just uninstall to be safe.

From Avira's site, you can see it's just a generic heuristic hit. However, someone would have to submit the file for Avira to verify it's a false positive:

TR/Dropper.Gen - Trojan

Virus: TR/Dropper.Gen

Hi,notblocklox!! Thank you for all your good advice. I learned the hard way many times about updating a program. My copy of PDF to Image is still licensed to: GiveAwayOfThe Day. After I click the blue command:Click Here To Add PDF File. Then I get the pdf2image.dll error. It also says file successfully something. Maybe your last sentence, is the key to the error. The menu and the button:Add PDF File only give the error message. Thanks again! I hope it works!

Hi,badsouth sounds not good that you still can't use this tool.
Firstly, I hope you did not try to update the program, then your registration could be lost. Click Help and then About and look if the license is still valid. There you should find: "Licensed to: GiveAwayOfTheDay.com" If this is okay then
secondly, click the blue command: “Click here to add PDF file” and run the program; it should give you one picture-file for each PDF-page in only some seconds. This appears to be the only way to get this tool to work for some computer configurations. The menu- and the button-”Add PDF file” only give the error message.
Good luck to you.

This program will not work on Windows XP with sp2 or sp3. It registered fine and all. I restarted, reinstalled, etc. PDF to Image keeps displaying the message: pdf2image.dll not found error. Because it was a Giveaway offer, we are not entitled to support. However, the developer off this software needs to be made aware of this. They need to make a patch or reoffer with patch. Thanks for letting me express my opinion!

Nevermind. I just tried out what I suggest earlier, and it does not register properly.

I also tried tracking down the registration code hoping that it was in the registry, but no luck.

You could also try this:
1. Download PDF2ImageSetup.exe.
2. Run and install PDF2ImageSetup.exe.
3. Run Setup.exe that comes in the pdf2image.zip file you downloaded from giveawayoftheday.com and install in the same directory you entered for PDF2ImageSetup.exe (if you left it as default, leave it as default)
4. Test to see if the program works.

I downloaded this nice program today.
After extracting and running Setup the program was able to launch.
But if I try to da a conversion I get always the error message:
'File not found: pdf2image.dll' and the conversion terminates without creating an image file.
In the program folder C.\Programme\PDF To Image there is a file pdf2image.dll, size 2.052KB, date:24.Oct.2008.
I think there must be an error in the setup routine.
Who could give me a hint how to fix it.

Forgot to mention: My System is Windows XP Pro SP3.
Thanks for help
