If it is too good to be true, it is.
YET....
there are a few good programs once in a while (concept draw, direct access) and games (jet n guns, hacker evolution)
if you really want something pay for it, otherwise just hope the next giveaway is good
(some programs/games are just ***********, all games for doublegames suck, the dimersoft dvd does not work ect..but it is worth waiting for the good ones.)

Golden rule of GOTD, not every giveaway will be a hit for you, I'd rate my average at about one "Yessss!" per month (usually things I HAVE already heard of), maybe a couple that I install and then rarely use, and another couple that I think about trying but never get round to. Plus several where I'll note the "anytime freeware" alternatives suggested and keep them in stock for whaen I need or can be bothered with them.

Well Mike, click back and never come again.

I have in 6 months or so got 3 excellent apps I have always wanted and got them free.

The other items, don't interest me atall.

This site is great, Bubby works dam hard handing his knowledge over to you and others so does Bill, Michelle, LadyGodiva, Bobby, Swann and others I may have forgotten but they know they do good.

I install stuff I don't need or want so as to pass advice, so do others.

Slava and his team have put a lot of time and effort to give you something for nothing, if eventually they hit lucky and get aquired and make a huge profit I will be first in-line clapping and cheering.

You may think I will suffer from cherry blossom poisoning, however thats my opinion.

@ Mikeper94 - yes this forum supports both Giveaway and GameGiveaway. If you have any questions about GameGiveaway you can ask here also.

People who see a program mentioned/advertised or reviewed elsewhere and want to know why GOTD cannot Give it away, must know that the decision whether to offer the program for a giveaway is ultimately up to the developer and not GOTD. If the developer says "no" then that's why it doesn't appear as a giveaway. I'm sure if the developer agreed then GOTD will do everything possible to get the program on this site ASAP.

If it was giveawayoftheWEEK maybe there wouldn't be so many repeats, would you rather it were that way? A program a day is a tough call. There's only so much variety of type especially when you remember limitations. They have to be small enough files so download servers can be accessible to all and developers are small independents. It's funny when people start asking for Photoshop or Office 2007. Commercial companies with big advertising dollars behind them don't need exposure.

Remember new people are finding the site every day and they missed older offers. I have been coming to this site since the very begininng before there were two sites and have seen plenty of repeats. But they are not repeats to new visitors.

The positive thing about the many different offerings of similar programs is that if you are interested you can compare them, and choose to keep what you like. All it costs is a little time and some hard drive space. Since I started visiting this site I've learned alot about the different softwares available and what to expect from them.

Mike, Michelle is probably very accurate in the belief that program availability is limited at this point. To that end, 'advertising' seems to be the key to a wider variety of giveaway programs.

Everywhere I go on the net, whether military forums, new software developers' forums or extended family members, I give folks a heads up on the Giveaway of the Day site, believing the exposure and participation will increase the likelihood of companies' willing donations to Slava and this site.

Although I discovered Giveaway of the Day only recently, I've 'advertised' it to hundreds of people, directly, and who-knows-how-many indirectly. There is also a link to Giveaway on several pages of my website, which is certified child-safe.

I do agree that it would be nice to have more variation, but I think that will come in time, as the site grows in popularity. Any suggestions on how to promote the site and increase Slava's choices of giveaways? I've run out of ideas, being down to my last surviving brain cell nowadays, but I'd be willing to try your suggestions or donate any space necessary on my website (such as it is) to help the cause.

They probably haven't got that many programs to choose from as it's a pretty new site.

I saw posts/comments where people asked them to give away a program they already gave away.

It would be nice if you could download a system utility tool one day, a music tool another day (wether it be a cd burner or whatever) and an art tool another day, but sometimes it doesn't always work that way. Maybe they got a lot of cd rippers/burners/audio conversion tools to give away but not a lot of other programs for art/system cleaning utilities/registry cleaner/disk cleaners, etc.

My thoughts are, there are 365 days of the year if you can get 3 good items then good.

Otherwise buy what you want.

I am an avid visitor of GOTD and I check for the giveaway every day when I come home from school.

However, I have recently felt that the standard of giveaways is somewhat poor.
For example, the programs are often very similar from day to day (i.e one day a music converter, the next a cd ripper), a bit of variation please!

What do you think? Please leave any thoughts here.

Thanks
