I'll be looking forward to the next challenge- I really felt a 'DUH' moment when the IR countermeasure flares were mentioned. I've come up with a few nice what is it's, but alas, left them home.

My sister should be in surgery for her biopsy in about 3 hours, but it could be as much as 5 hours after that that I find out anything. unless things go bad real fast. I'm hoping to have to wait.

My next expected login will be tomorrow evening sometime, as I'll be taking one leg of the bus up to my other stop in california before heading back to oregon the 13th- haven't been able to try any giveaways as I'm just borrowing time on the computers here.

The radar flack is almost right, but not quite. they use metal chaff for radar scrambing.

The apple was the one I couldn't figure out.. the others are a signal flare (or radar flak) and a tire.

You've got the second one right. The image shows a drop of water on the skin of the apple. i'll post the original just as soon as i've sorted out all the files i'm migrating to Win 7. The images are in my documents folder on the XP platform.

Take account of the other clues;

It has sulphur in it (Think, what whould sulphur be used for), also related is a product tapped from a certain type of tree, and the clue in a 'roundabout' way.

I'll tell you what it is either tonight ot tomorrow, assuming no one gets it. The first one is a tool used by jets and helicopters. If you've played games like Battlefield 2 or a military flight sim you should get this one right away. but the clues I've given should help those that aren't familiar. Remember the clues. It's used in a theatre of war and is some sort of protective mechanism. :) Easy Peazs ... lem..... lol

The first one is a defensive mechanism, but not a gun, the second one can be eaten and the third often gets muddy.

Here's a couple more clues:

The first one ios a form of defence, the second one is just what the doctor ordered. And the last one is derived from a particular type of tree :)

The first one isn't anything burning up on re entry, but it is in the atmosphere; you'll find it in a theatre of war. The second one is organic, but it's not a red blood cell, and the third one has sulphur in it. There could be a vague link to Spock as well. :)

No to all so far. One is probably found in your house most of the time (most being a clue), ones military and the other I'd have to tell you in a round about way (that's anothe clue). Also the last ones color could give it away. Think of what familiar objects are that color. :)

I'll be more earthy and guess the first one as lava ejected from a volcano perhaps, though re-entering orbital debris has to be a second shot.

How about a small pimple on skin for #2 (too well defined for jupe's blemish)
