hello, cnova...

maybe the program associated with opening your zip files was somehow changed?...

right-click an unzipped file...click "Properties"...and check to see which program is set to open the file...IE may have been set as the default for your zip files...

if your settings were somehow changed...right-click the file you want to open...click "Open With"...then "Choose Program"...and select the one you used before...

on my XP OS my default option is set to "Compressed (zipped) Folders" under "Recommended Programs"...that was the factory setting...

for Vista or other OS, instructions may differ...post again if you don't get it fixed...help is here in the forums, somewhere...lol...

If you try just clicking on the zip file and it happens then I would check if your zip file tool application is corrupted or needs to be updated. Try downloading a zip file from another site just to see if that's it. If not then for this download try what Violet4714 suggested in the post I gave above in which she posted about GAOTD's change in download host server.

She posted:
maybe the problem started with the last host change...you said that is when you have problems...

http://blog.giveawayoftheday.com/were-moving-to-a-new-host/

july 1st GOTD was moved to a new host...

also, please read the front comment page, #18, Funkster...apparently the trial version you can download from the site will accept the registration number from GOTD...

if you downloaded & have the registration number but could not activate, maybe try that?

The file that downloads is a zip file. Is this happening when you click on the zip file or does it happen after you extract the setup and txt file out of the zip file and try to click on the setup.exe file?

Out of curiosity, when you click on the link to download and the file download box opens, are you clicking on the
(Internet Explorer "Run" or "Save") (FireFox "Open With" or "Save to Disk")
button?
Either browser you should be using the "save" options.
I had this problem sometime back at a game site when I use to use Internet Explorer and that was the case. I would click on "Run" and as soon as it was done downloading the file would mess up trying to open a browser to bring me to the game site's home page. It didn't happen all the time just once in a blue moon.

Also try this link to another post here with similar problems with more advise to try.

When I try to download a program from this site when it finishes downloading the info it goes to open a explorer window and it just flashes, like it starts to openn then closes, starts to open then closes, etc. on and on and on and on......
This doesn't effect my other ie windows that are opened. The only way to stop it is to start the computer.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Oh, by the way, I used to be able to download from this site with no problems. Thanks in advance.
