Hi, Nass, welcome to the forums!

I remember the game 1995 pretty well from my old win 3.11 machine :)
I played it a lot and had the same issue when getting a new computer.
I hope one of our techies can help you to get that version installed again.

If not, have a look at this Solitaire Game Collection:
http://pysolfc.sourceforge.net/
You have to install a version of Python to run the games, I have explained it in that thread.

In that collection are 43 different games of Hanafuda type with 15 different card sets.

Good luck.

I'm hoping someone can help me use this card game. There are a number of versions available but my mother's favourite is called 1995card. We had no trouble playing it on Win95 but we can't get it to run on her Windows Vista. I think the basic shareware version worked on my WindowsXP at one time but it doesn't seem to now. The first problem was that it's a full screen game. I found from this site that that could be fixed with DOSbox. I've tried DOSbox with other games and it seems to work fine. However, this particular game says it needs to be installed from a floppy. I've tried to do that with DOSbox by mounting as an A drive but I can't seem to get it to work. I'd really appreciate if someone could download it and work out how to install it. And who knows? Maybe you'll like the game!

This is the download page:
http://www.hotud.org/component/remository/game/0-9/1995card/
The minhato game is easy to install but my mother doesn't like it. I'm looking for the game in the first link: 1995card.zip.
*Note: This download is the registered version that cost $9.95 back when Ninano Software was still alive. It is perhaps best to uncompress the zip file directly to a floppy disk to install from the floppy drive, since the game uses a copy protection system that requires original disks.

If anyone is interested in the game itself, here's some info:
http://www.pagat.com/class/flower.html

Another funny thing. At work I am playing on a 4 year old laptop and this game really puts a strain on this machine. After playing for 10 or 15 minutes the fan is running full speed and after about 35 or 40 minutes the graphics start to lag and I have to shut the game down.

As far as the laptop's age goes, most of the casual games my wife plays stress her PC the same way, almost to the max, regardless how powerful it is (or isn't) -- the last time we upgraded (a couple years back) it doubled the horsepower, but the CPU load while playing her games stayed almost exactly the same. I have to pay the same level of attention to cooling her PC as I do on this one where I often render/encode video.

One problem with laptops is squeezing all that stuff inside a small as possible case means there's not a lot of room for heatsinks or airflow. A smaller or narrower path for that airflow also means dust bunnies can tend to get more concentrated in critical areas. It might help [I don't see how it could hurt] to use one of those cans of air to try & blow out or clean out some of that accumulated dust, shooting the stream of air into whatever vents or grills are available. A free app, HWMonitor [ http://www.neowin.net/news/hwmonitor-119 ] can tell you if things are getting too hot, but IMHO blowing out the dust bunnies & at the same time the keyboard is just regular maintenance or maybe housekeeping, like washing your car or cleaning out the inside as needed. Note however that some people object to anything being put into the air they breath, & I could see blowing out a laptop in a crowded office maybe causing a bit of a stir -- you might want to wear something like a dust mask yourself just in case.

At the risk of going a bit off topic, cleaning out the dust bunnies is something desktop PC owners/users should do as well. Rather than spend a continual fortune on canned air I bought a very cheap, very small air compressor, which has more than paid for itself in the few years we've had it. On the 2 PCs that sit on the floor we've found it helped immensely to cover the air intakes with pieces we've cut from home air filter/purifier pre-filters -- the pre-filters are usually very cheap, & washable, being either foam or a black fibrous material designed to let a lot of air pass through very easily. FWIW I've found the washable part critical -- simply vacuuming the filters off doesn't do it.

Thanks delenn13. At least I know someone is feeling my pain :) The nice thing about the previous 2 versions of the game was the fact that it was easier to get additional time. You can of course do this with 3 but if you focus too much attention on the yellow dudes or the additional time power-ups you end up with additional time but a low score. I like a challenge but this is beyond frustrating. I mainly play this game at work during my lunch hour and I have been trying literally for weeks to get past this current level. And as far as the mini puzzles, I don't even try. Another funny thing. At work I am playing on a 4 year old laptop and this game really puts a strain on this machine. After playing for 10 or 15 minutes the fan is running full speed and after about 35 or 40 minutes the graphics start to lag and I have to shut the game down.

I have finished all the cradle games, the age of Japan's, I think I lack 2 of the Atlantis' games and both of the Montezuma's. I have over 2.5 million on Bejeweled 3. My fav for a quick game is Sky Bubbles. But Montezuma 3 is driving me crazy as well.

The only redeeming parts of the game are the intro(which is really cool) and the fact you can get medals for being inpatient, persistent, a tortoise, and having bad luck. Then there is mission impossible..LOL. I seem to be doing the same as you..but worse..one game I think I got 13,000. And those mini puzzles..the worst. I don't like to do this but I have searched for walkthroughs and hints etc.. I have found videos for the puzzles on YouTube but nothing else.

Right now I am @ Treasury No.4.... 1 out of 8. It seems you just have to plug through it.

Sorry to be no help. But I thought I would chime in. Misery loves company ....

Thanks txgoogoo. Nice map. I am doing pretty well at finding things, but getting to them can be difficult sometimes. The map is useful to help locate where things are or find them again as there are so many locations. I was already using some of the resources mentioned in the articul, but the Skyrim perk calculator was new to me and is fun to play with. Love this game.

I'm trying to play through Treasures of Montezuma in expert mode and I'm stuck. I am attempting to get the extra star in the 3rd treasury by getting a score of 800k and something. I have already gone back to previous treasuries and collected all the extra stars. For the life of me I cannot get to 800k. I have tried trading the stars for different bonuses but nothing seems to work. This game can be really strange. Sometimes I think I am really racking up the points but my score won't even be up to 50k. Other times it seems nothing is happening and I will end up with 300 to 400k. Any ideas?

Just installed the update that contains improved textures for PC owners. That was the only gripe I had about Skyrim. It looked beautiful until you looked closely, but that's the price we usually have to pay for games that are cross platform. Hopefully things will change when the next generation of consoles come out.

Dawwwwb: Backworlds Is A Lovely Paint-Based Puzzler

By Craig Pearson on February 10th, 2012 at 5:51 pm.
Tweet this

A cat. WE MUST HELP HIM!
This is swish. Platform game Backworlds has just released a demo, and I’ll urge you to play it because, yes, it’s been released as a prelude to asking you for money to help the game to be finished (also known as Crowdschafering). But it’s also a pretty, painterly puzzle game with bags of potential. It’s just a few licks of a brush away from greatness.

The world exists as two parallel, and you can move between the two by selectively wiping the paint with M1 to reveal the background, and reapplying it with M2. Doing so lets you pass through walls in one dimension by wiping to another where the wall wouldn’t exist. Brushing reveals hidden bridges and switches that would otherwise be hidden. The demo has charmed me on this cold, darkening Friday evening, and I leave for the weekend a happier man. Have a look. Isn’t it pretty?

This is, by the way, from the makers of canny mash-up platformer Assemblee, which the ridiculous handsome, sexy, refined and charismatic Alec Meer, who is most definitely not adding this update to the bottom of Craig’s post himself, posted about here.

Just a collection of games and yes some might be old, but does it matter when you don't own them?

I will have it in a couple days and I will let you know if it works. I have Windows 7.

Big news for the legion of Grimrock fans we have: Almost Human has released a compatibility test to see how the game is going with hardware compatibility. You can download via the torrent link below and, obviously, this gives you the opportunity to taste the game - although there is no "gamplay" - just the chance to look around, as I understand it:

Legend of Grimrock is, little by little, getting closer to completion but we are starting to have some serious night terrors about the game not running properly on the computers it should run on! But now you have the opportunity to help us sleep better! We’ve made a test build that you can download, install and run (and then later on uninstall) to see if the game starts and take a look if everything looks normal. Just to be clear, there’s no gameplay of any kind in the build, unless you are exceptionally easily amused, and probably everything works just like it should work… But in case the build doesn’t work or something just doesn’t “seem right” you should let us know by dropping a line to: [feedback]

In the mail, you should describe what happened and tell us the specs of your computer like your OS, amount of memory and what is your display adapter. Also, if an error pop-up is displayed we generate an error.log file that you should attach to the mail. The error describes where the log file is saved so take notice! :)

The bare minimum requirements to run this test is Windows XP SP2 or above and a DirectX 9 compatible graphics card with pixel shader 3.0 support. Thank you for helping!

Update: we now have a torrent available!

The following Topware games are all 50% off ($2.99 to $4.99) this weeknd. You can find more details HERE. I highly recommend Two Worlds, Gorky, and the Earth 2140, 2150 Trilogy packs and 2160. Also Dream Pinball is quite good as well. (I've still got the manual from the original release). Two Worlds II is a fabulous game; not quite Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, but it has it's own charm. If anyone does purchase it I can give them two bonus unlock codes for Aziraal's Sword and the Armour of Darkness. I got those with the original deluxe version of the game which I purchased when it was first released five years ago.

Dream Pinball 3D

Earth 2140 Trilogy

Earth 2150 Trilogy

Earth 2160

Enclave

Gorky 17

Jack Orlando: A Cinematic Adventure (DC)

Jagged Alliance 2: Wildfire

Knights and Merchants: The Peasants Rebellion

Septerra Core: Legacy of the Creator

txgoogoo on "The Best Skyrim Resources To Improve Your Dragon Slaying especially the Map"

The following article is from one of my favorite websites. I highly recommend reading one or two days worth of articles, most of which aren't gaming but this article is especially for Skyrim fans. I have already printed the Skyrim map for future reference. Definitely go the website given at the end of the article for pictures and charts and the map and video.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is an epic role playing game, but you probably knew that already. We’ve already harped on about why it’s not to be missed, how to improve your dragon slaying using an iPhone and kept a close eye on technical issues.

Now it’s time to dig deep and see what the web has to offer the Dragonborn. The following resources will aid you in clearing dungeons, navigating the province, mastering alchemy and a whole lot more.

I was going to put a joke here, but then I took an arrow to the knee.
Reference & Walkthrough

You can’t beat a well-maintained wiki when it comes to crowdsourcing information about video games, and Skyrim isn’t short on wikis. The two I would recommend are the Unofficial Elder Scrolls Pages (UESP, established in 1995) and the Elder Scrolls at Wikia.

Both of these sites feature a healthy, constantly growing database of pretty much everything the game throws at you. Mission walkthroughs, character biographies, item locations – pretty much everything you need to know. Be warned though, it’s easy to spoil quests and developing storylines by spending too much time reading articles. Skyrim’s entry on GameFAQs also has a number of extremely detailed walkthroughs.

If it’s a giant annotated map you’re after then check out GameBanshee’s 9.34MB high-resolution .PNG which also comes in 9-page PDF form for easy printing as a 3×3 poster for your wall (you geek).

Alchemy & Ingredients

The simplest way of discovering an ingredient’s effect is by eating it and seeing what happens to you. If you’re not keen on poisoning yourself or would rather not waste your precious ingredients then one of the many alchemy guides is bound to suit.

There are two rather awesome tools for budding alchemists, the first being the Skyrim Alchemy Recipes Finder. Simply add a few ingredients (or all of them for the full list) and all possible potions will be revealed to you. This utility is useful for finding out what certain ingredients do without wasting anything.

You can also use Josh Blevins’ Alchemy Effects & Ingredients to reverse look-up an effect for a list of ingredients. Traditional types who like long plain text lists should take a look at Ahlyis’ Alchemy Guide on GameFAQs which has full potions, ingredients and effects lists.
Character Building

Building a character can present you with some of the toughest decisions in the game, so planning your perks is the best way to ensure your character blossoms into the dragon slaying hero you desire.

Thankfully it’s easy to do just that with the Skyrim Perk Calculator. Use it to go hog wild and build the character of your dreams then plan your path to power, save and start exploring the world. iOS and Android users can look forward to mobile apps soon.

There is also a fairly lengthy character development guide on GameFAQs as well as this more condensed version from SegmentNext.
PC Gamers & Modding

Those of you enjoying the PC version of the game are lucky enough to be able to modify it but also have the added obstacle of performance issues. If you are suffering from poor framerates or just think your game could run smoother then have a look at nVidia’s Skyrim tweak guide, it even comes with Bethesda’s approval.

As for mods then look no further than Skyrim Nexus. There really are quite a lot of mods on this site with new ones being released regularly. If you fancy modding your game but don’t know where to start then you could always take some inspiration from PC Gamer’s Top 25 Skyrim mods.

Conclusion

If you’ve not yet played Skyrim then you have a fantastic experience in store if beautiful open-world RPGs are your thing. Even if you’re a well-seasoned adventurer, hopefully some of these resources will help you out next time you decide to start a new character.

If you have any of your own recommendations, links or just an opinion then add a comment below.

Michelle,

Where do you see that you get Play! 1 and Play! 2 with the deal? Those are listed as "also bought", not as part of the deal.

This 101 games deal are all old Alawar games -- Most of which are available for no cost using such sites as MyPlayCity.com, GameTop.com, FreeGamePick.com and even JenKat.com

All have issues but no ads. Recently MyPlayCity has become extremely aggressive in requiring you to agree to the hijack of homepage, search engine and installs the toolbar without asking but all are fairly easily "reversible".

These games are so old that in a CD like this, it is iffy as to if the install procedure will work. That's even more iffy with the other game CDs you listed.
