This software is great but I am still waiting for one able to respect audio and video defined links in your computer, not only weblinks. Fully compatible with internal links on MS Powrpoint
Since that seems to be complicated we'll have to put up with MS Powerpoint.

An .exe output to open in fullscreen does not play well with dual monitors. Smack dab between the two and unmovable.

It would be nice to be able to import .pps which it can't.

The Flip OpenOffice that is available for free under free tools on the website...did anyone notice?

A nice program, easy to use but over priced.
Thanks GAOTD and Flip PDF

I find that it is wrong when they say on Give Away that it is free as a one time when it is in fact only free to try it .They should tell you before downloading it and also installing the software it is not the first time .I think that if they say it is free then it should be free and if it is not it is misleading and they should be taken to court for wrongly misleading.

I had some students do presentations last week and we're on a pretty restricted network. I've been using powerpoint for years and it works fine, but I had several students use Presi.com and I was totally blown away by it. I'm not really up to speed on the requirements or ability to create an offline copy or even make handouts, but if you want something that is animated and very professional looking and free (I kno they didn't pay for anything) I'd recommend giving it a look.

@34,
I'm among those "not read past the name stated":

"allows you to turn a presentation created with Microsoft PowerPoint into a flash flip book." = allow you work on PP data files.

"allows you to turn a presentation created with Microsoft PowerPoint (required) into a flash flip book." = allow you work on PP files and you need to have the PP application for it to work.

the later sentence would be clear to me.

I always wonder about a software program that has words that are not spelled correctly in their user interface.

I got the same "cannot connect" error the first time around but it worked fine on the second shot.

"Beging to import files. This may take awhile, please wait." ARGGG!!!!

FYI, v1.2 of this same product was given away on Aug 24th 2010, developer name just "rebranded" - the Chinese manner.
File size then was less than half of today's: 4,3 MB.

Is there anybody who can and will explain their experiences with v1.2?

#52. Warren: Oftentimes, at the end of the installation of most (all?) GotD products, the final screen contains a checkbox that is already checked, asking if you want to launch the application. Untick that box, and just click on "Finish." Then, start the program from either the desktop shortcut, or from your Start menu. This usually solves any activation problems.

Once you open the program, click on either the 'Help' or 'About' link to see whom it's registered to.

I have Windows 7 and PowerPoint Student 10, and just installed FlipPPT, and it registered OK. But when I click on Import Point Point, an error message comes up. "Microsoft PowerPoint is needed. Please check to see if Microsoft PowerPoint is installed." Yes, Microsoft PowerPoint is installed! If I have Powerpoint open, FlipPPT closes it when I click on Import PowerPoint. And Flip PPT won't go past error message. Help!

Well, I decided to start over.

Uninstalled, then re-installed.

This time upon clicking the "Activation", a little pop-up told me that this was supplied to me by GOTD, but then another pop-up told me that it was unable to connect.

And now, again, when I click the Flip PPT icon, it asks me to register.

So, after all that, I'm back to needing a Registration Key to complete the process.

Well, if it's like this, you can't compared that app with this GAOTD!!

Sometimes I wonder about suggestions for other products that are posted here as most of them tend to be for products that don't have the main features of the product that is being given away.

#10 There is a separate file included for activating the software. You have to run it after you have installed the software and closed it.

#36, try clicking on "Help" then "About" to see if it really is registered. The Activation process does not open the registration box since it automatically registers the product without the need for you to enter a key/code/registration number.

This is part of the A-PDF line of products so some may already have the previous flip Powerpoint product offered here, 3D PageFlip for PowerPoint. I cannot tell the difference so I installed this one and maybe I will determine whether there is any difference over time.

I don't get why people are clicking on comments where someone is clearly asking for help. I know it may not be useful because it's a request for assistance but it's not the same as someone making an awful comment about a product.

One suggestion I would make is that the system requirements be listed. If Microsoft Powerpoint is required then that should be clearly stated. I agree with whoever says that it should not be the case. Some might find it a no-brainer and think of course, it requires Powerpoint and that it needs to be installed. Consider that there are a number of productivity suites that allow for conversions to popular file formats. It is entirely possible to convert documents to Powerpoint format without having Powerpoint installed on your pc and you can download a Powerpoint viewer. Kingsoft Office which was given away here is an example. Since all this software really needs is the .ppt file then Powerpoint installation should not be a requirement but if it is, then it should be clearly stated.

After installation, I clicked the activation, extracted and when finished the program was activated without needing to turn off and on again. I hit quit at the activation box and then clicked on the activation in the download files. Don't know how it could be much easier.

No problem installing or activating. Nice program. Will add fun aspect to writing. I found this better than the free ones listed as most of the free ones were either trials or lesser programs than their paid versions.

Used this program last year when offered and liked it then. Glad to get on new computer.

I have to admit that I was a little hesitant to try this due to the comments. I am glad I did anyway. It's so easy to use. I wish it had some other features, but, it is what it says it is. Nothing more.

My son just started using Power Point and I'm sure he will love this software for his final projects (and his teacher will be impressed as well).
Thank you for giving this FREE. I would never pay $99 but I suppose some people would.

# 28 Hey Arnie, I guess most of us are able to read plain English correctly, but I.M.H.O "a presentation created with Microsoft PowerPoint" does not read as "Microsoft PowerPoint has to be installed on the PC". Still, as I do have "presentations created with Microsoft PowerPoint" on my system, I'm going to try this one out, even if MS PPT is not installed... (but, for now, I have to leave, sorry...).

Pretty clear to me (and most people).

This software is very good and very useful especially for web marketers, teachers and online tutors, as long as you have a copy of OFFICE installed in your PC, of course !!

....but....

....once again I noticed that this GAOTD is just the STANDARD (limited) EDITION of the program, which is better than nothing, of course!!

Anyway, OPEN OFFICE users can download and use this FREE GREAT ALTERNATIVE, that does more or less the same things as this GAOTD for FREE:

http://www.flippagemaker.com/free-openoffice-to-flippingbook/index.html

As for OFFICE users, honestly I don't know any FREE Software capable of creating a Flip book directly from a PPT file: so if you need such a program, don't miss this GAOTD out!!

However, it's possible to do that for FREE by simply turning your PPT file (and/or even your WORD and/or Excel document) into a PDF file using a free tool and then create FLIP BOOKS from your converted text document through another cool FREE software or with a free online application.

1) PPT, WORD, EXCEL ==> PDF

http://www.dvd-ppt-slideshow.com/ppt-pdf-converter/

2) PDF ==> FLIP BOOK

http://www.flippdf.com/free-pdf-to-flip-book/index.html
http://www.codebox.es/pdf-to-flash-page-flip

Finally, if you are looking for a FREE program able to create stunning Online Presentations and Tutorials in FLASH FORMAT from your PowerPoint files, adding on them even Flash movies and YouTube videos afterwards, then look no further: "iSpring Free PowerPoint to Flash converter" is clearly the right tool for that!!!

http://www.ispringsolutions.com/free_powerpoint_to_flash_converter.html

But how about doing it manually?? LOL!

http://www.webpronews.com/how-to-convert-powerpoint-to-flash-manually-2005-09

Enjoy!

Ciao

If there is a requirement for a specific program to be installed, such as an MS Office or Adobe product, for a "conversion" program to operate, it is nigh-on useless. It is merely a plug-in for that product, and ought to be advertised as such. I am sure there are some great level editors out there for certain games, but offering me one of those as a standalone would be folly.

I don't consider this a GOTD issue, but an issue for the developer to address.

Quad Core (Core2) processor running at 3.2Ghz
Windows 7 64bit
8Gig of DDR3
Nvidia GT560ti

The PC magazine demo used, on average, 53% CPU with some peaks at 70%+

This isn't going to run well older hardware and laptops.

I suggest that some code optimization is required, perhaps the 'GPU' isn't being used to it's full potential?

That said, I do like the idea. There are many people out there that can knock up a power point presentation in minutes but know nothing about flash, this could be a useful tool.

PPT appears in preview mode only if a "classical" template is selected (so the continous loop can stop);: after, the conversion can work.

Neat program to convert powerpoint files to flip book, and can even be saved as .exe files for presentation even on computer without this software installed. I have liked this program since its last giveaway, but noted that they have removed the "tilt" function, where you can tilt the book. This program specialized function is just to present powerpoint files in another fashion. The price is simply too high just for that.

Installed and ran fine (Win7 32b, Office 2010). Appreciated the nice selection of templates. One issue I had however was the linking. The PPT I converted was riddled with all sorts of internal links (home button, internal navigation to skip swaths of slides, etc). None of the links worked, meaning I was limited to a sequential presentation. Explored the setting panel and changed the link option to 'self' with same results.

Would have liked the (more obvious?) option of doing a single page rather than double page layout too.

Otherwise, sweet little tool to add to the presentation toolbox. Thanks to the developers and GAOTD!

It's ok - re my request above for a registration key. I clicked on the activation file again, and this time it registrated the program.

I've used this program before, and I think the flipping book it creates is marvellous - with great quality on my pictures and book appearance and actions. I used it to help promote a self-published illustrated novel.
