No kidding...it is AWESOME. As a power movie maker and powerpoint user this is great software. Its interesting to hear whiners state...''but it requires powerpoint, and I don't have powerpoint''....ha ha ha Thats like bitching about not wanting software because you don't have a computer and I have a right to deny others to get something I can't have. Losers whine about not getting something for free, and then when they do, they are still democrats.

This is a similar tool of FlashSpring with support of Window vista and PowerPoint 2007, Wondershare PPT2Flash Professional.

It is a little tricky to deal with right to left languages in Flash.
For the text direction is quite different. If you have interest, you can have a look at this software title.
It can convert PowerPoint in Hebrew, Arabic or other rtl languages to Flash. Free trial is available.

Flashspring pro 2.2 looked great, but I couldnt use it due to lack of support for MS Office 2007. A beta version of FS 3.0 is available but has the demo limitations on it. I would be very grateful if you could run it as the GAOTD sometime soon.

Has anyone been able to get this version to create Flash banners with a small file size? The banners I created from this giveaway are typically 10x the size of the source powerpoint - I was expecting the file to be compressed.

I used the 29k banner_ppt.ppt available at http://www.flashspring.com/articles/create_banner.html and tried to convert this and ended up with a file 162k!!!

Thanks.

I do not think there are too many PPT converters ... I use it for chruch presentation every week (2 - 3) times. Well I use MediaShout, but still use PPT in ways at times. I think GAofD does a great service to starving small fries who dreams of having all the useful software tools, but can't always afford them.

I must say too ... I really needed this tool yesterday for a website I am working on ... but sadly I am disappointed because I am a Vista/Office 2007 user. So the 2007 issue have been frustrating!

Does everything it says on the can. (Powerpoint 2003 plugin to convert to flash that works as as a Powerpoint 2003 plugin to convert to flash.)

It is rather irritating when people complain something doesn't do that which it doesn't claim to do.

It does what it says. No more no less. If you want some other product don't download this and most particularly don't complain about it.

Thanks GOTD, a nice piece of software.

As I'm using PowerPoint 2007, FlashSpring 2.2 don't support my 2007 presentations. The FlashSpring 3.0 beta always crash my PowerPoint, and my PowerPoint 2007 automatically disabled it ....

Thanks to #22 Terry and #25 Sue, it's so great to get a really PowerPoint 2007 compatible software. Wondershare PPT2Flash is really nice to my PowerPoint 2007. And the quality, features are no different from FlashSpring 2.2.

And I find the direct download link of Wondershare PPT2Flash from sameshow.com:

Not a bad converter. My problem with the software may not be relevant to most of the rest of you out there. But... the software was unable to handle conversion of right-to-left languages from multilingual language packs in Powerepoint (e.g., Hebrew). The converted files presented all of the text backwards.

To all end users of this:

This program is of no use to those that have MS PPT 2003 or above. You may save your PPT and it is automatically compressed to a very small size. To view it, just use PowerPoint Viewer by Microsoft FREE!

To Giveaway of the Day:

Shame on you for repeating this giveaway, this has already been availabale to download months ago. Don't you have anything else better to give us?

I downloaded and installed it. Converted a few ppt files. Works wonderfully!! I like the fact the compression is adjustable, so I can tweek file size without sacrificing quality. Gonna install it on all my computers, the Vista too. I called my coworkers to tell them about htis. I think all of us are takers, and like it. Wont be sure until Monday morning at the office. Business solution software will make GAOTD pretty popular I think. Least for a while. Thanks GAOTD!!

I ran the activation first, then installed the program, but when I create and save a file it has " Created By Flash spring" on the bottom of the page and at the end of the flash. Looks like it did not activate??? Whats up here? Tried to uninstall and do it again. When I run the activation first it say" Activation successfully" But the program still shows it as an unregistered version with program advertising on the bottom??? Whats Up with that? Please help!

This is great. I tested it on some PowerPoints that had videos in them, and the videos ran perfectly. I like the ability to have the control panel as well. I will be using this to post PowerPoints onto the web for our non-profit organization. It really helps cut down on people swiping all of our hard work and calling it their own, and sometimes even selling it.

To all who whine and complain about the offers they don't like:

PLEASE SHUT UP! If you don't need it, don't use it. Confine your comments to whether or not the software fulfills its stated objective.

There are many different users out there with many different needs and interests, so just wait your turn or look somewhere else. Losers.

Just converted my first ppt and it worked perfectly. I use an older version of ppt so I guess that is why I had no difficulties (after reading the plight of 2007 versions). Thanks so much for this software. The teachers at my school use ppts for instructional purposes and would like to share them with their students and parents. Our website will support the flash file so that is great (hate to ask parents to download ppt viewer when many would rather not). Again, thanks so much for this software. I will show it to my principal and maybe we can scrape up some money to get a site license (unless anyone knows of any other freeware that would do the same thing). Thanks in advance!

Two things:
One - regarding saving this web page -- it was not a question of the length of the page name. As soon as I said "save" I was getting a pop up saying "webpage cannot be saved". That behavior has now stopped. Thanks GOTD!

Two -- as regards OpenOffice.org's Impress product. It has swf export built in, you don't need an outside product. I just tested it on two files with a lot of images (as opposed to lots of bullet lists) and it took a 591KB file down to 271KB and a 11358KB file down to 1475KB. Both of these were Powerpoint 2000. Neither had animations or sound, I don't know what impact that would have or whether they would translate, or whether Impress even supports sound / narration. (I am actually a Powerpoint user) It would be interesting to test a Powerpoint file with sound taken through Impress - if it worked, then you have a free converter. BTW, I opened the swf files produced in Internet Explorer directly. I had to click on each page to advance. Not sure how FlashSpring would do this. I expect that building the swf into a webpage with a player would work better.

Swan Reviews (Almost!) Everything

“The day will come when machines and software will tell us whom to know; what to eat; what to wear; when to go to work and what profession to pursue; when to sleep; what entertainments to enjoy and with whom to have any kind of relationship. It can’t be avoided and you will succumb.”

While I was installing today's software, I inadvertently hid all of my program folders somehow. I saw a screen flash that said Hide my folders (or something like that). Now when I press the start button and go to programs to run something--there is nothing listed there. Can anyone help? If I use system restore I will have to go back four days. Is there any way to automatically set a daily system restore point?

It installed perfecty and created a cool toolbar in my powerpoint
program. But when I played the output swf file, there were two problems 1. The effects were not working, and 2. The text for some slides did not show up.

It looked cool at first, but it just doesn't work.

I am an instructional designer at a University and work with faculty to help them develop their distance education instructional materials. Voice narration over PowerPoint is a common learning object used here, but are constantly battling with file size. This product is perfect (we were just about to purchase Impatica).

Unfortunately, we just upgraded to Office 2007, and the 3.0 Beta version is trial-only. This makes it hard to fully test it and make a solid recommendation for purchase.

Thanks.

I use Open Office to create, edit and view "power point" files. My hope was that this software would convert a stand alone file converter, as others discovered. it's not. Not the end of the world because there are free power point viewers available, this isn't like anyone would be missing out on content available via the web.

About the "average" Joe who mention he filled up 2 hard drives. Why? You can choose what offers from GAOTD to install or remove them if you find yourself not using them. I myself am a pack rat when it comes to free stuff, but even I am learning to say no thanks and disposing of little used items. ;)

Hi,
I hope this hasn't been ask already, I've looked but might have missed it.
Does this convert pps's that I have already, not my own but one's that people have sent me for entertainment? I'd love to share them but most people I know don't want to download the viewer just to see the shows.

I'll try it.

Besides, although OpenOffice is becoming another standard, Powerpoint actually is.

What are the benefits? I use it simply to move images from one place to another. Some images won't fit inside one diskette. So, I make a presentation with all the images, then use the compress image option and save it. It fits inside a single diskette!

If I want to send them to print, I just add some primary color squares (and a middle grey one) at the side of every image with references about the size of the image. It helps a lot to achieve good prints.

With this application, I am going to be able to post visual tutorials at youtube easily! And with some nice background music.

Thank you, again!

This installed fine and converts quickly, but even with the compression options set to maximum quality, the images were fuzzy. Some to the point of being almost unreadable when original text was of a small font.

Hi Nina Lezhnina (Comment #54)

Thanks for the beta version to try with Powerpoint 2007. It works great, except that on one of my presentations it dosen't convert the text animations, and cut a few pixels off the bottom of some of my text.

Also the beta is trial only, so theres no way to get this one activated today for free is there?

Thanks anyway, I have my old Powerpoint 2003 on disk so I guess I could install that alongside of the 2007 version to use todays giveaway.

Thanks for a great product!

David
