Flash Decompiler Trillix is a powerful SWF to FLA converter that will help you decompile Flash movies, convert SWF elements into multiple formats and edit SWF movies without Flash Studio installed. Flash Decompiler COMPLETELY supports Flash 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 including Actionscript 2.0 and 3.0 without any exceptions.

With an ease of one click you can extract SWF elements: sounds, images, videos, shapes, frames, morphs, fonts, texts, buttons, sprites and ActionScripts from any SWF file directly to your hard drive.

With Flash Decompiler you can export Flash Video to AVI, MPEG, FLV and FLA, save sounds as WAV or MP3, images - as PNG, JPEG and BMP, texts as RTF, TXT and HTML. Flash Decompiler lets you convert the whole SWF file into FLA, or export certain Flash resources into FLA format. Flash Player EXE files are decompiled the same easy way as common SWF files. Flash Decompiler will give you detailed information about the whole Flash movie, its shapes, images, morphs etc, also tracking their placements in frames and sprites and even saving original names of frames, ActionScripts and sprites.

During the installation you'll be asked to provide your email address. We will send the activation code for Flash Decompiler Trillix to the email address you provided.

Thanks, #86 "almish", for the more thorough technical analysis.

At least I'm not alone (and I do see that yet others also reported getting only a "beep")!

I hope the GAOTD team calls developers' attention to these kind of "late-followup" comments. Perhaps they are some of the more useful ones for actual bugs in the code, whereas the earlier ones are more useful as related to first impressions and features (or lack of them).

Had no problem with install, with firewall on..
Software is simple if you have used similar software before.
If you have any previous Flash DeCompliers installed I would remove them first.

I had one and it did not want to install until I uninstalled the other.

Other then having to download Adobes .FLA program Which I do not need anyway.

It is very good software.. Thank you Givewaway OF The Day. And the Makers of Flash Trillix...

My experience exactly duplicates harpo2448's. Initial installation, registration of emailed code went flawlessly. But attempting to run provides a momentary hourglass then nothing. No Task Manager entry. Running XPsp2, ran clear_all.reg and now I get just the beep.

Ran fd3.exe through Dependency Walker (depends.exe) and get this:
00:00:02.235: First chance exception 0xC0000005 (Access Violation) occurred in "c:\windows\system32\KERNEL32.DLL" at address 0x7C80A2E8.
00:00:02.235: Second chance exception 0xC0000005 (Access Violation) occurred in "c:\windows\system32\KERNEL32.DLL" at address 0x7C80A2E8.
00:00:02.235: Exited "c:\program files\eltima software\flash decompiler trillix\FD3.EXE" (process 0x98C) with code -1073741819 (0xC0000005).

Logged in as Administrator and program permissions look OK. Oh well.. here goes the uninstall.

(Next day final attempts to get Flash Decompiler Trillix to run.)

Checking up on yesterday's final comments I see that I was not alone in getting a single "beep" when the program tried to launch. I thought perhaps someone might have posted a solution, but it seems that there were several of us trying/struggling towards the end of the offer period to get Flash Decompiler Trillix to work before the offer expired.

Perhaps that's why the overall "Thumbs UP/DOWN" ratio dropped from what I recall seeing yesterday -- people having installation problems yet not leaving comments about it.

Before uninstalling, I thought I would take the DEP (Data Execution Prevention) adjustments one step further. Previously I had created an entry to "except" the executable FD3.EXE with the only "positive-step" result being that I began to get an error message when attempting to run the program (Access Violation) in addition to the beep.

So today I decided to change my DEP setting to the less-protective "Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only". After the required RESTART, I still got only a beep.

I uninstalled Flash Decompiler Trillix and returned my DEP setting back to "Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select".

Too bad, but that's the risk with the GAOTD offers -- no guarantees things are bug free. It would have been nice to use. Perhaps Eltima can figure this out and post some useful info on their support pages (or better yet, fix the proglem before the next version!).

(I sure wish I knew what was going on. I have a pretty good track record of getting things to work -- there is only 1 single DEP exception entry for all software on my machine, which has close-to-300 program folders under "Program Files".)

Yet more info on repair attempts.

Found this similar entry on their website support pages:

http://www.eltima.com/forum/index.php?topic=3440.0

It hinted at adding an entry for excluding Flash Decompiler from DEP. After doing that, I began getting an error message similar to the one in the post at that link (in addition to the error sound previously mentioned):

Error: Access violation at 0x7C80A378 (tried to write to 0x80502F5A) program terminated.

Unfortunately, the other items mentioned in that post did not help, including running the "clear_all.reg" file ("...run this file and it will clear all Flash Decompiler settings except your Registration info...") and checking to see if any "compability" choices were set (they were not).

I'm running Windows XP MCE SP2.

(A short while later...)

Still no luck. Also tried uninstalling the GAOTD version, then installing the trial one from the product website. Same lack of results (except for the "error beep/chime/bell" sound) -- no error message of any kind when the program fails to launch.

Confirmed that the Adobe Flash player update installed earlier was the latest by visiting the test page at Adobe.

This is a first for me. It must be some sort of permission issue, perhaps key entries within the Registry itself if not the "Program Files\Eltima Software" folders/sub-folders/file objects. Since I am running as the Administrator, I'm not sure what is wrong.

This is a NICE freeby for anyone looking to decompile SWFs. VERY similar to previous gaotd SOTHINK offer, but the output results CAN BE A BIT DIFFERENT. I have found both useful, depending on the goals.

Those who don't know why they might need this or the difference between a decompiler and editor DONT NEED THIS; Its not that complicated. Its a good program whether you need it or not.

Forgot to mention this: Although on a couple of the installation attempts it stated that I already had the minimum required Adobe Flash software, I also tried allowing it to perform linking to the Flash update page and installing the latest ActiveX version.

As mentioned, it didn't help get things working for me.

Sadly, it simply will not run for me (so far).

I rarely have any problems with GAOTD offers, and even then figure out how to get things working (often with help from others' comments).

Today, however, after installation all I could get out of the main application was a "beep" (and no onscreen error message or other window). Task Manager showed it loading for less than a second then exiting.

The IE plug-in tool seemed to work OK to play and save a file, but clicking on the "decompile" button resulted in the same "error beep" and no further result.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling; tried turning off Spybot S&D and AVG anti-virus; tried installing in SAFE MODE; everything was attempted in an "Administrator privilege" account which normally prevents any issues... but all to no effect.

Perhaps there's something similar to comment #59 by "rapidrust", "Error: Access violation" going on, although I didn't get the error message.

That's it so far. I'd sure like to get this working.

I didn't see this asked yet, but I could have missed it, If you have adobe flash CS4 (or really any other Adobe Flash), does it make this GAOTD pointless? Or am I missing something...

I have been to this site many times over the last four months and have to say that the software made available here is very generous and has been a great benefit, I have down loaded several of the offerings and cannot believe I got it free, to top it off this site has a very good forum with some very informative feedback that is a great source for advice. To sum it up, great site, great people, comments good and bad all have something to offer, all deserve a round of applause, thank you and keep up the great work!

I'm running Windows XP SP2 with Firefox v3.0.9 and IE v6.0.

Installation seemed to go fine - I got the activation code quickly and chose the default installation locations for both the program and the start menu shortcuts. I opted to install both the IE plugin and the Firefox add-on for all users at first but got no indication of whether it installed it or not. I did not select to run the program immediately.

When I double-clicked the start menu icon for Flash Decompiler I got a brief hour glass mouse pointer and a beep and then nothing. I disabled my Avira antivirus protection and Windows Firewall and tried reinstalling again, this time as administrator. I opted to install only the Firefox extension for the current user this time and this gave me the firefox popup telling me that it was not compatible with v3.0.9 which is fine since they said they would get an updated version to work with Firefox up on their blog shortly. However the program still does not start at all, just giving me the same single beep sound ("Windows XP Ding.wav").

The ActiveX plugin for IE was installed and working. I was able to at least view .SWF components of web pages but pressing the "Decompile" button gave me the same "ding" sound and that was it.

I'm currently having RegCure do a scan of my registry to see if something in there is corrupt and causing the afore mentioned "Access Violation" issue that others were experiencing (although I am getting no such error message).

Flash / Shockwave [SWF] files contain scripting / programming, plus they can include video & audio files, images, & vector graphics. SWF files that contain Flash format video [FLV], also normally include the FLV player -- no separate player is needed -- though it's not as common since it's considered more efficient to have one player on the web page fed FLV files hosted by the site, as with YouTube.

Flash Decompiler Trillix, like the Sothink decompiler offered the other day on GOTD, in a nutshell takes SWF files apart so you can access individual components inside them. While the 2 programs do basically the same thing, they are different enough that it's worth taking a look at today's GOTD offer -- Flash Decompiler Trillex does let you modify / edit existing SWF files for example -- though both have advantages. Neither however is a complete toolkit in and of itself, but then I don't believe there is such a thing.

What you can do with the individual pieces you extract from the SWF file depends on what other software you have installed as much as the original file's contents. FLA files for example might be pretty useless for you without something like Adobe's Flash editing / creating software installed -- it's like having a bunch of WordPerfect docs without WordPerfect to open / read / edit them.

Installed and activated with no problem, registration code came about a minute after I sent the email. Exported all files from a test .swf with no problem either. The program does what it says it does, so thumbs up. Does take a while to load, though. Haven't checked why, just thought I would mention it.

As for the warning about Adobe not being installed, that doesn't mean you can't use the program to decompile flash files, just that it did not detect an installation of Adobe software to allow editing of flash files. You can always use whatever editor you like. Flash Decompiler Trillix is basically just trying to be helpful in giving that warning.

Tried to install several times ... The FAQ at the developers web site says the problems are caused by a problem with the download try to download the file again ... I did doesn't work -
The error message I get is something to the effect the process is in use by another application and terminates.

Would have been nice though....

Need some help!

Am I missing something or is it that if you don't have Flash installed it won't work?

I don't have Flash, but have an .fla from DeviantArt and it doesn't even see that .fla.

You can buy .fla files from istock, plus you can get free ones from Flashkit and Deviant Art, so I was thinking I could use this!

Am I not finding something or will it not convert an .fla if you don't own Flash?

downloaded, installed and registered fine on my vista. My email came immediately, no issues with that. I have flash (cs3), so this is indeed helpful to me, as I dabble with flash quite a lot. I missed the previous decompiler that was mentioned in other comments, so this is a nice giveaway.

My first launch was really slow and laggy, but well I'm not exactly using a very fast computer, and I had several other applications running, so I'm fine with it.

I like the Office 2007 interface, really neat and organised.

I tried adding one of my swfs to the task, I didn't convert it 'cos I already have the fla for it, and there was a drop down list that detailed all the components, which was really cool.

It'll really be handy for me because I have lots of swf files that I made in the past which I lost my generic fla files to. I glanced through and saw the codes shown clearly. For a person not as quick with actionscript like me, that will be a lifesaver.

Thanks to eltima and giveawayoftheday.

Read BladedThoth's (the GOTD veterans will still know him) review on the predecessor of today's software given away on July 17th 2007 as "Flash Decompiler v2.99" (without the suffix "Trillix").

http://www.bladedthoth.com/reviews/15mrs/flash-decompiler-v2-99/

There are others like Ashraf that may explain to us the difference between the two versions.
What struck me right away is the rise of the price tag ($59.95/$79.95). Nevertheless I feel this is a product very thoroughly written. Thumbs up.

We recently had a similar offer that suite me better because of it's direct ability to decompile FLV files which is what I use. No SWF or FLA files on my PC at all so I'm passing. One flash decompiler is plenty but thanks for what otherwise would be a useful tool.
If you missed Sothinks version of this software, you might want to grab this one. Also, I see compatibility with flash through v9. I have v10+ whatever. Most of us probably do so is this offer compatible with the newest version of flash player to?

@Whoever asked about mp3 from flv from youtube, go to the high quality version of the video, most have one now and download the mp4 which will be stereo. Get media coder (free) or some other video converter and just ask it to rip mp3. You can use flv, but hopefully get better music that way. Still won't be great but good for the odd sound. Try about 128 Kbps because it isn't too large but the quality of the songs won't be too great from YT.

Yes, it does say you need Adobe Flash Studio, which is highly annoying, but you have to agree to the Terms of Use before you start the program, which are basically "You will not claim anyone's work as your own, you will simply view this code or..." blahblahblah. Personally, agreeing to a Terms of Use by clicking a button that says "Yes" or a button that says "No" is not very effective. But this program is exactly what I was looking for and I'm going to use it.

I have CS4 installed, yet I see this pop up: “You do not have Adobe Flash Studio installed in this system at all. You won’t be able to edit FLA file in this system.” Both Google & Yahoo search of “Adobe Flash Studio” do not lead to any meaningful result. I understand the latest is Adobe Flash CS4 (v10), is this studio thing referring to studio 8 which is a year 2004 product with many apps bundled together???
