Downloaded and installed this yesterday, and tried it out today. Unfortunately the program I was trying to record doesn't work properly while the Take-1 Recorder is recording.

I was trying to drag an image from one tab to another in GIMP - works fine normally, but not while the software is recording.

I just tried MS Expression Encoder screen recorder, and that also has the same problem as Take-1 Recorder. So while it is a problem, it seems it is one that other screen recording software has as well.

This is quite late in the day, but my comments should still be helpful after the Giveaway period.

The easiest registration was achieved by following the instruction in comment #3. Thanks dadams !

I have absolutely no issue with the GUI (interface). It is clean, easy to read and straight-forward. There are a number of options available, mainly for control over quality, but also where to save your work. There is a full roster of fonts and font-sizes for use in comments/titles/etc. Lots of room for creating a nice output and lots of capability to grow into.

However detailed the options may get, they never get in the way, and I must say that my learning curve took about 45 seconds ... it's that comfortable. What's more, the output is very good indeed ... very impressive.

As you can tell, I do like this software tool and it will be very valuable to me. So far, it is the easiest tool of its kind to use IMHO. So a thumbs up from me and a big thank you to Filestream and GOTD for the opportunity to test and use this.

Softwaare giveaway should not accept participation by developers like these who make registration near impossible (you cannot even paste in but must enter manually each letter or digit of the password aquired with such difficulty.)

This looks very much like a developer seeking maximum exposure while giving away the least possible actual programs (keys-passwords) In the future give these the boot !

HELP!! I downloaded, got the key in about 5 minutes, installed all with no problem. However when I tried to run the program (several times) I get the same error

"the instruction at "0x005a662c" referenced memory at "0x00000011". The memory could not be "written"."

I tried rebooting the computer, download the program and reinstalled again, didn't change anything. I'm running Win XP.

Any suggestions from anyone?

Screen capture? Ashampoo Snap5 is free (other software too).

https://www.ashampoo.com/en/usd/lpa/gift

You need to register to get your code/key, so use an e-mail address that you don't mind getting a lot of offers on.
The $8 upgrade offer to Snap6 is not bad.

There is a 7,200 second or 12 minute limit on what can be recorded.
I am uninstalling this program. No good to me.

Okay, I'm no technical eggspurt or reviewer, but after pulling out many strands of hair over the past couple years trying to figure out why SnagIt and Camtasia just wouldn't reliably record the screen (not to mention they're a complicated pain to use), all I can say is the reg info arrived instantly as promised and I got Filestream/Take-1 Recorder to work right out of the box so I'm happy as a clam in unpolluted water! It captured my impromptu tutorial, my voice and a bouncy ball cursor. I am going to have a lot of fun with this. Thanks GOTD and Filestream!

Installed and registered on my Toshiba laptop running XP Home Edition, but there is one problem though: it will not launch. I get a following warning:
“The instruction at “ox005a662c” referenced memory at “0x00000011”. The memory could not be written.
I am an older fellow, and I do not have the slightest idea what these warnings mean. Could someone lend me a helpful hand and tell me how I can solve this issue. I would very much like to use this giveaway.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Bob.

#23, #28 and everybody:
No need to do the registration (give your name, mail adress or other...) like it's asked by Filestream.
During the installation, you just have to copy/paste the following licence key : GMBG-GSCW-2EYM-UEAK-GQ9Q. Only this, more simple is impossible! It's works fine.

Downloaded and registered on the page, only thing required is the email, guessing they store that on your database so when yous end the email to get the key it sees that your email is registered. Send the email from your mail and with nothing but the 'to' filled in, everything else blank. I got my key instantly. I have not yet installed yet or tried, the process was pretty straight forward.

#14 -- If I may be so presumptuous as to speak for our good friend Giovanni: I think he means "kiss your wallet goodbye" because you won't need it with the freebee's he recommends. ;)

His english is good, but I don't believe it's his first language.

Regardless, his reccomendations are usually spot on!

thanks as always to Giovanni (Crazy Super KING of FREEBIES)

I got this. it was fast and easy. it took me a moment to realize that i needed to send them a blank e mail to get the password after i gave them my email address. all i filled in was my name and my e mail.

It works rather well. Not too bad.
I did make a video to test it ( warning language) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kaV6XvxjuIw&feature=youtu.be

To be honest i would not pay that much for it.. however it is not that bad for free XD

Can't and won't comment of the software as I never tried it out - Simplify the registration process, include the serial nos. etc. in the readme filesa .... Simples!

Basically for those who are waiting for their emails, the email cannot have anything in it, no subject, no message, if i sent one with a subject, no email was received, but when i sent a completely blank one, the email was instantly received. First i thought perhaps it might need a subject, but i was mistaken on that.

Thanks to comment #3 for the registration tips! Followed your advice and registration fast and immediately received registration code. Did a very quick test of both picture capture and movie capture of the take1 recorder screen with me moving the cursor around, pulling down menues and such. Worked just fine. Thanks GAOTD and Take!.

Lynn,
Over the years, I have saved 'millions' of web pages.
Often I see others desiring the ability to save an entire web page as an image. Even if I found an easy reliable way to do that, I would still save them the way that I always have (not as an image).
If you have IE, it has the ability to save a web page into one single file, with an extension of .mht
FireFox now has that ability.
Double click a .mht file and it will open up in your default browser.

Installed and registered OK, although there's nothing that says it is registered that I can see. It seems competent enough, but it seems you will lose it if you need to reinstall Windows, so while I am grateful for the chance of the program, I'll stick with Ashampoo's offering which I can reinstall.

I downloaded this mostly for the function that captures an entire webpage as an image. Unfortunately that one thing doesn't want to work for me. :(

I opened the help page and followed the instructions but the "Special Capture" dropdown choices will not select and the window to enter the URL for the webpage to be captured does not come up. Not for me anyway.

Everything else seems to work fine but I really wanted to be able to capture a webpage as an image - that one thing would save me a lot of time piecing several screenshots together.

The software itself looks very nice. Now if I could just figure out how to get the webpage capture to work it would be perfect! Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. :)

Thank you!

Lynn

Well, if you need a tool to create tutorials, e-learning courses and How-To videos, this GAOTD does this job pretty well: can capture windows by hidden or partially visible captions, with built-in on-screen markup tools designed to add text, lines, arrows, frames, highlights and even circles over an object of your tutorials, so as to make them more appealing, clearer and easier to understand for your audience.

It's also able to add WATERMARKS over images in real time, applying different transparencies for it, as well as record what you see & hear from YouTube, Skype (chats, video conferences etc...), Webinars, WebCam chats etc... saving the output as an AVI file.

So overall, for what it does, I give it a THUMBS UP and highly recommend it to all of you (after all updates should not be necessary in the short-medium terms), even though an easier GUI would have been a better option for the average Joe users out there.

50 BUCKS?? Come on...you are too expensive dudes, especially when a crazy man like me is wandering around the web and in this forum....LOL!!

You don't need to put in all your information in the registration list.. just email. they will send you a password when you send them an empty email. It was sent instantly to mine, so if you don't get it right away I would try it again. I have not been able to video capture yet. I try it and when it opens the folder that is supposed to contain the video, it is empty.

OK. Received key in mail 20 minutes later. Don't have time to fully test this now, but be aware of one thing: even though you "close" the program, it still keeps "take1rec.exe" running silently in the background. You'll see it in Windows Task manager.

I installed this on my computer( win 7 64bit) in my administrator account.after install & registering
I tried the program using the shorcuts in start menu but they didn't work so i switched over to the user account
& tried shortcuts there & they worked.
latter I switched back to administrator account & tried shortcuts again they still don't work.
then I searched program files(86) for filestream folder & looked for take1rec.exe ,then I right clicked on it
& ran as ADMINISTRATOR the program opened I closed it & tried the shortcuts & they were now working.

This one has a rather unusual registration process. you are asked to visit this link...

http://www.filestream.com/register/take-1-gotd-register.php

You enter your name and email address. It also asks you for your mailing address but I left this blank and the process completed without a problem. Make sure you enter "Take-1 Recorder GOTD" as the Product Name.

You are not done yet. Now you must send a blank email to the following address...

ppss@filestream.com

When I did, my key appeared instantly into my Hotmail inbox.

So how does this one work? Well I did not try all of the features but I tried the screen capture and that worked pretty well. I am sure you can find alternatives both free and paid for each element of this program. I may be wrong but I don't believe there are many alternative that can combine all of the components of this program. For that reason, this will be a keeper for me. Thank you to the GOTD team and to FileStream.
