This is a terrific, simple little tool for people like me who don’t have photoshop or anything advanced, but who would like to do some small editing jobs on photos or clip art. Brilliant!

It looked pretty useful, but it didn’t work on my computer. It would say “File Renamer Deluxe has encounter a problem and has to close. We are sorry…..” I debugged it and I get “ECall Methods must be package into system modules.

Luckily there are plenty of freeware alternatives. I was looking into getting a new file manager anyway.

I should have over 2hrs left to register but it comes up with an error message on install:
Activation module failed to connect to giveawayoftheday.com. Software activation is not possible at the moment. Please try again later or check your firewall settings.

I turned off my firewall and tried again…and still the error so it must be on your end. I tried for about 15min now. Guess I’ll just give up on it now and go with one of the freeware alternatives.

And, to address your Tag problem, if you look at the file name near the bottom of the program window, you will see some will be red while others will stay black. If they turn red, that means that the tag(s) are different from the information you want to put into them.

For example, lets say you download a lot of songs by the same artist. You edit the tags and misspell the name of the artist in the tags. If you go to the tag editor in this program and type in the artist name correctly, the file name should turn red. That means there is something different and it will be changed if you click “Rename.” Unfortunately, this cannot tell you EXACTLY what is in the tag. That is one of the flaws in this program.

#48, that was a most useless and ignorant thing to say. Further more, what in the world difference does it make to a person’s IQ whether or not they live with their mother, or any other relative for that matter? People who live with their mother, or other relative do so for a reason. With the current economic situation, it isn’t hard to see why family members would be sticking together, sharing expenses, rather than supporting several different households.

This board is for comments, opinions, and whatnot. People express their opinions on the software, and some tell about always-free software, that others may want to check out for a later date if they lose the one GOTD gave away. Also, the ‘thumbs up/down’ rating system has already been discussed; it is still in use and everyone does with it as they will/won’t – *I* don’t mess with it, myself.

To #61 re laplink download. This website asks for personal information and a password which is visible in plain sight to all and sundry who want to view it. No security sign “pops” up to let the user know that the information they fill out in their form (which is mandatory to download the file) isn’t going to be freely available to the www network. It is a nice offer but Ashampoo, for example, had a secure site when they requested personal information/passwords/addresses, etc. One has to wonder about Laplink’s generosity in providing a free program when doing so possibly risks having identities, etc., revealed and/or stolen?
