I am late in my comment, but I got this screensaver yesterday when it was offered. It is probably the best one I have ever seen. I have no complaints. I did not know that fairies were such antisocial creatures :-) I truly like this screensaver, and I am sure that by me watching it, it lowers my blood pressure! Thank you GAOTD! I like this SC very much!

This is both a screensaver and an active wallpaper. I was surprised to discover the wallpaper running after installation as I did not pick up on the description and just saw the title.

On another note, I ran set-up, closed the installation window without running and yet still see a no registration notification in my system tray. I will run the activation programme a second time but it seems strange as this rarely happens to me.

Finally, I use an old tiny wallpaper on my much larger screen and have a colour in the background as well as a calendar running. I thought it might be useful to state that both continue showing on top of the wallpaper.

I like this screensaver for a change, the fairies move around and it seems there is more going on than usual for an animated screensaver. Yes, the concept is out of date ... although I did have a line on my previous screen which matched the top of my browser window so I must admit to returning to them, plus I like to see I have been away from the screen long enough :D

@Valli, #24. Ever since the new GOTD wrapper came out a few years ago, I had to install GOTD giveaways without unpacking (unzipping) anything. Several colleagues who also subscribe to GOTD have had identical results. Unzipping the files first caused the new wrapper to fail on our PCs. So never unzip them. The old GOTD wrapper worked fine, usually in either case. Yeah, I know what it says in the readme, but for whatever reason, it changed with the new wrapper.

In the past two years or so, I have not unzipped a single GOTD and have had 100% successful installations. This is also true of GAME GOTDs (game.giveawayoftheday.com)

Failure to register is often caused by not starting the newly installed program after activating it. This is because with certain programs, newly installed programs must complete registration within your micro$oft window$ os installation.

As for the "FAILED TO CONNECT" I've seen that a number of times during the past eight years and it's always because either micro$oft window$ was internally set to "work offline" -or- because your internet connection is down or intermittent (e.g., ISP down). Usually it's #1, even if you've always used Firefox or another real browser. You have to fix it by going to window$ internet options (I go to M$ internet explorer > file > work offline and uncheck that - close internet explorer and run the GOTD installer as normal - from Firefox for me). This has always worked as well.

Horrible looking graphics. Wood looks like plastic. Uninstalled right away.

Loaded and ran on XPsp3. No problems except that it is very resource-intensive.

For those suffering from registration problems, make sure you unpack the zip file. Don't run the setup from inside it. I did the same thing before I read the readme file which tells you to unpack it first.

#18 Ruth H, are you using Internet Explorer or another browser? If using FireFox/Chrome/Opera/other non-M$ browser, run Internet Explorer and see if it set itself to "offline" mode (GAOTD's activator uses the M$IE core to 'phone-home' and verify the giveaway period)

#5 Rich, did the same thing here (forgot to deselect the 'start wallpaper' box before clicking 'finish' after running the installer. Exited the Wallpaper Manager and re-ran Activate and restarted the Wallpaper Manager and it shows as registered to giveawayoftheday. Most giveaways that come with Activate work this way, just as many that require entering a key code will require a program re-start to recognize the registration.

I am impressed by this wallpaper-movie!

Here ae some tips and tricks:

- You can stop this animated wallpaper by exiting its quickstart icon.

- You can run the wallpaper as a movie (without disturing iconnin front) by finding "Fairy Forest 3D Screensaver.exe" (exe!) and run it.

These screensavers, do they function the same as the traditional screensavers? They cover the screen after several idle minutes, then vanish when a key is pressed or is there more to them? Can they be used as a live desktop background or anything else like that??

I disagree. In general terms, there are many more predators that pose a significant threat to humans.

I think it should be automatically understood that a statement like, "Sharks, the most dangerous creature to humans", excludes humans from the risk assessment pool.

It should also be understood that the statement is not made in general terms, rather, it's made in relative terms.

The phrase could be debated as accurate when viewed in relative terms... Stand a human next to a grizzly bear and then float him next to a Great White, is the human in danger in either situation? If so, which creature is the most dangerous to the human's continued existence?

At this point, in relative terms, it becomes a matter of opinion. We all know that debating a person's opinion is pointless, almost as pointless as this reply.

I had the identical experience as in #5 - will not register - ran activate.exe and got to the GOTD window then got message "Failed to connect". I was online with this page open and still got the same message. This has happened before and prevents me from using the GOTD. Installed on Windows 7. Tried three tiems - no good.
Ideas or suggestions welcome. Thx.

Very nice screensaver. I do like things that make my computer come to life!

It reminds me of one I saw years ago called "Skeleton Adventures". Probably one of the best screensavers I have seen. I thought Sly Slim was kinda cute, in a dead kind of way. A little different to these cute fairies! lol

In today's time, the screen savers are obsolete, there is no phosphor screen and there is a need to preserve the battery and or CPU (heat build up) from running in an endless loop and finally, who would seat in front of a computer just to look at the same motive time after time.
The most useless time I have done is just 30 seconds when someone calls me to alert me of something or to have few minutes break for coffee time and when I leave the computer I alway make it hibernate or lock it down and shut the screen.

Thanks for the offer anyway!

Get over yourself, papin, and spout that on your ecological/political forums. This one isn't even about their Great White screensaver which is AWESOME!

Thanks, GotD for the 3Planesoft giveaway. They still have the best screensavers out there and I'm probably old school, but I still use them because they're fun to watch and often calming when my day at work or home is a madhouse.

I really wish people would stop giving ratings based on their dislikes without even installing and trying something. I'm not a big fan of all the video rippers, but I don't vote on them either because I haven't tried them. All the down votes here simply because one doesn't like screensavers in general is ridiculous.

Installed and registered fine on Win7u x64.

It could do with some extra anti-aliasing as the maximum graphics option isn't quite enough. Would also be nice if exiting the settings returned you to where you were, rather than exiting the application. Some navigation controls would be a good idea too (I know it's a "screen-saver" but it only has any point when someone's at the computer).

Impossible to argue about the value for money though, as it's pleasant enough and the wing sounds are good.

I'm not certain what the issue with screensavers is. If you don't like them - don't use them.

This one does exactly what it claims to do which is fair enough.

I would echo Papin's comments about sharks and the Great White. He's right. Please amend 3Planesoft.

Although I despise screensavers, my point today is not about them in general but about the one named "Sharks Great White" (from 3Planesoft).

To quote the makers of this GOTD: "... the most dangerous species to humans ---the great white shark...". No, no and no. That statement is absolutely false. In fact, the most dangerous specie to humans is the human being.

Then, sharks are probably the less dangerous animals for humans. A cow is a bigger threat! Then, of all sharks the white shark is not the most dangerous.

To 3Planesoft:

Please, do NOT tell thing that are not true. Instead, you should participate in the rehab of sharks, and try admiration for this animal in lieu of relaying supid propaganda.

I fail to see how it can have such a low approval rating if the comments are anything to go by. Maybe it's because it's a screensaver and not some mad partition-y magic thing, or some audio-ripping-format-conversion programme. It is what it is, and that's a great screensaver.

Get over yourselves, people!

The Fairy Forest is a magnificient screensaver offering, I think, artwork and animation effects equal to a Disney animated movie. So glad I downloaded it. Thanks GOTD and Planesoft.

Thank you 3Planesoft and GOTD - this is an excellent high quality screensaver and animated wallpaper combo. Have seen some of 3Planesoft screensavers demo'ed in the past, and they are all stunning! This one installed and activated without problems on my Windows XP SP3 PC (now obsolete, thanks M$!). Remember to follow instructions in the readme file. It runs smoothly and looks beautiful. If it wasn't for the fact that I live in a 3rd world country with an attrocious monetary exchange rate against the US$, I wouldv'e gone for 3Planesoft's $99 for all screensavers special offer long ago already, and some day I may just give in and go for it. Thanks again!

I'm so pleased the giveaway team still give away the odd screensaver. I love some of these for example the mechanical clock, the dark castle, Koi Carp, the tornado at sea etc Of course some of them need updating as graphic engines have moved on since many of the present screensavers were made. We all know they aren't necessary as screensavers any longer, but they are still aesthetic art forms that can be pleasant to look at for a few moments when you need a break from your montors glare. Sit back with a cup of coffee or tea (or your flavoured water)and mellow out for a few moments. :)

Thanks to the giveaway team and 3planesoft for this excellent screen saver.

Installed on a Win 8.1 Pro 64 bit system with the problem, that the screensaver manager doesn't work.

A well known company without name and address. 3Plansoft makes some of the best screensavers - have a look at the mechanical clock.

This is something for the children, they will love it. Don't blame the screensaver makers. There is obviously a market in which they survive since more than ten years.

My favorite was the lighthouse point...
