to #28 (and #30)
You will need

1. some hardware to do the capturing:
a DVD recorder deck
or a digital camcorder
or PC/Laptop with video input connector
or an external (USB) video capture device.
Check cdfreaks.com for hardware suggestions

2. software for video editing or converting (depends on the file format you get from your capture device)
Check videohelp.com for software and HowTo's

3. CD-DVD burning hardware and software for finishing your work

Hello, everyone!

Pros:
* Can view the video track and audio track information of the original video on the upper right side on this program.
* It has a sweet graphical interface.
* It is rather straightforward to use.
* It provides "Customize settings" for the output videos.
* It converts video fast.

Cons:
* when I installed this program, a software informer which is no need on my computer will also be installed.
* During the conversion, it takes up 100% of CPU usage of my computer.

Summary:
It's OK. It basically solves the video conversion problem. I think Moyea Video4Web Converter on playerdiy.com, which is free, is also worthy to try - http://www.playerdiy.com/downloads/converter/

Installed on Win XP sp2. It reported that it was activated, but at first run it asked me to buy the program. I reentered the activation info and it accepted the entry.

I picked the first file on my hard drive, an AVI file. I tested the file before encoding and it worked fine. Upon encoding to MP$ format I got the following Fail:

TODO: has encountered a problem and needs to
close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Yep, inconvenience. I hope it de-installs smoothly.

I downloaded and installed it on RC Win7. At the end of the install (during some extraction) I recieved an error that there was not enough storage to complete the install, then it seemed like it was installed, but the licence key was not working. I was worth a try.

Installed this with the intent to try to convert video files for my Creative Zen Plus V. Part of the installation included installing the Windows Media Player 11 runtime library. I don't have -- and don't want -- WMP 11. I have been using WMP 9 for encoding.

I ran a test file conversion, which worked quite nicely. However, when I connected my Zen Plus V, my computer would no longer recognize it! Apparently, loading this & the WMP 11 runtime knocked out the WMP 9 stuff that I had been using, and which worked fine with my Zen Plus. It took going back to a restore point before the installation of the Extra Video Converter Pro to get things working again.

The program looked promising, but it disables the device that I would want to use it with!

I know this comment will get a lot of thumbs down; I really don't care. It may be helpful to some.

I do a ton of converting and I have the following that I dl'd from GAOTD (a site I like very much btw): Z video converter, Moyea v.c., Aimersoft v.c., and Total v.c.

My favorite was always Z v.c. even tho it had the annoying bug of only allowing 3 or 4 titles to be added to the list to be converted at a time, but at least the results were good. Total v.c. on the other hand always messes up the audio and is a POS.

Then I got Any Video Converter (from here? I can't remember) and believe me it is the converter you want. Highlight 30 vids and it adds them seamlessly, something that would take forever with Z. Get this and compare it to today's offering and see what you think. And no, I'm not downloading this....boo hiss...LOL. Any Video Converter is all I need. Okey dokey? Let the thumbs down begin. (Pretty sure this msg will get yanked by gaotd, most of mine do :-)

Quote......."DeVeBe burns anything you throw at it".
This may very well be true, but after 4 hours with the progress bar at 67% I threw the towel in.
So I used THE best of the best...ConvertXtoDVD...
Encoded/burnt/ 65 minutes.
Plus anything burnt will play on ANY DVD player.
Rant over.
