#13, mike, your statement "DVDs only have 4 possible frame sizes [Full Screen & Wide Screen in NTSC & PAL]" is confusing resolution and aspect ratio, and is incorrect. DVD has 4 resolutions for NTSC: 720x480, 704x480, 352x480, 352x240; and 4 others for PAL: 720x576, 704x576, 352x576, 352x288. DVD has 2 aspect ratios, 4:3 and 16:9, which apply to each resolution. Note that the aspect ratio is for the DVD video stream itself, not the source material. Source material which does not match either of the DVD aspect ratios will be letterboxed during conversion to fit.

Extra DVD to All MP4 Ripper seems to be a good program to grab. Installed fine with Windows Vista 32. Have a nice looking interface. But Ashraf is right...

There is no support within the software, and the tutorial at http://www.dvdcopyrip.com/extra-dvd-ripper-express-guide.html is for Extra DVD Ripper Express.
It changes your home page to http://www.dvdcopyrip.com/ without your consent, which I dont like.

I have no use for things that convert files to Apple formats. If anything, I'm always looking for new programs to convert to Xvid with Lame MP3 format. I hate MP4! It doesn't play in my DVD player.
In most cases, VirtualDub (which is free) is the program I use. Of course, there are always instances that VDub just can't do what I need, or it adds a few steps. That's when I reach for one of several other converters I've installed.

This is enough to keep me from even trying this one, unfortunately.

The Bad

* Doesn’t work in Windows 7.

* Messes up output video resolution/aspect ratio when using H.264 if “aspect ratio” is left to “original”.
* Tries to change IE’s homepage.
* Needs a third party program to assist it in ripping region locked DVDs.
* Developer (continues) to place ads in the program which lead to developer’s website when clicked upon.
* Limitation to 1024 kbps (max) video bitrate makes output quality a little lacking (when creating a “general” MP4 of course).
