If "Sometimes the mere fact of protecting private info is a crime in the eyes of your boss," what about having this software installed on the same computer? Duh!

Try using TrueCrypt to encrypt your files and Egoist to hide them. Just because a file is hidden doesn't mean it can't be recovered easily. Hidden files can be recovereed instantly by professional forensic software, and even some free/cheap consumer level apps. High encryption IS a sign of something to hide. Best to encrypt then conceal on removable drive, then delete the files from your system and wipe free space/file slack with BCwipe or Eraser to make them unrecoverable.

What positive purpose is accomplished by trashing, bashing, and insulting this site and the people who run it?

If you don't like what's offered here, nobody forces you to visit this site or download the GOTD.

If you know developers of quality software who would be willing to offer their products for free as a Giveaway of the Day, my guess is that if you had them contact GOTD admin and make arrangements, GOTD would likely offer their products too. From what I've observed, I think GOTD is limited by the willingness of developers to offer products as Giveaways and maybe instead of criticizing the offerings here, more would be accomplished by appealing to software developers of products you want to see offered here, asking them to contact GOTD and participate.

I downloaded this and installed it on my xp desktop after doublechecking its homepage to make sure this was a real app and not an April Fool's joke. Its name sure sounds appropriate for an April Fools joke!!!

The app correctly shows as registered.

There is very little help or explanation of how to use it, etc, even on its homepage.

It would be nice if it were possible for apps like this to be so that instead of having to use passwords that if forgotten, render your data inaccessible, if such a program could be set up on a USB stick so it was possible to open the private files by inserting the USB stick that had the program on it. Then nobody could open the files except the person in possession of that particular USB stick.

Regarding Model Analyzer, please make it available for download again because the reason I did NOT download it was due to reading in comments, of all the problems with registration that others had run into with it.

@Alex who seems to think Truecrypt screams ut that you are hiding something on your PC.
Erm...obviously he has never used it.
It comes as an exe file with a couple of other files, no need to install it so right away there is no evidence of the program anywhere on the PC.
You can keep it in a folder somewhere and rename the exe if you are that paranoid.
As for the files it creates for you to hide things in, they can be made to look and be like ANY FILETYPE at all! So how does this mean it screams out that you are hiding files??!!
Oh and I forgot one important thing, as Truecrypt can be completely portable, plus you do not need the program there once you have hidden data, so there would be absolutely NO WAY for even an expert to tell the hidden data is there.
Tell me, how on earth does that make it scream out!!??
For the people who get tired of hearing people say Truecrypt then I will tell you that I was the same until I gave it a try.
The reason everyone from Leo Laporte to me recommends it is simple: It REALLY IS the best you can get if you want to hide data from prying eyes.
I have not tried the program here today as I don't need it but I also had a look at the reviews etc and decided I would not be interested anyway.
Just clarifying the Truecrypt point!

At first I was excited by this program offer. I installed it and found out that I couldn't do anything I wanted to with it. I was hoping to be able to hide whole files or programs but the program would only let me import certain file types. I removed the program quickly. Thank you anyway! P.S Does anyone know of a free program that will hide all files?
