What's peculiar about your country that negates this software as part of a suite?

Perhaps the best way to evaluate the software is against another software. I remember Spell Quizzer from GOTD sometime back. it allows the quiz to be created with input answers. It would be good for teaching children at home especially for spelling, whatever the language if the parent is interested.

WIN XPSP 3

All progs now a days should give YOU the option where to install.
Other than that it installed somewhere and activated and I have not the time to look or use it yet.

Could do with a choice of skin and some colours rather than bland white.

Of course this quiz only works if you provide the answers , which means a Monkey could theoretically get 50 % right which is probably why the grading system gives 3 USA choices and 2 UK grades ( which as far as I am aware are no longer used) .

This leads to too many students getting A,s and A stars and leaves employers with a difficult job of sorting out between those who are any good and those who are thick as two short planks because of the dumbing down of the education system , part of which includes multiple choice!

I had a kind of a different problem that resulted in my uninstalling the program. It activated just fine, but only under an elevated admin. account. As I am not comfortable with using software with elevated privileges, I give this one a pass.

Too bad.

Installed and activated fine after closing the program on Win7 64-bit Home Premium.

I have to agree that this would have been a hit 10+ years ago. The report rules base is very minimal without any options to export the reports into any commonly used datasheet formats. The question options, while enough for someone wanting to bone up on already familiar subject, leave much to be desired.

One item that got me excited was the ability to list unanswered questions in the report, but that promise fell flat on its face for me because the software can't seem to use the resulting report(s) to help create a targeted questions list for the next exam/quiz/refresher/etc.

Reduce the price to $9.95 and target it to home users and you might be able to sell 1000 licenses. Or... you might take some help from the OpenGPL community and develop this into a great cross-platform freeware solution for home users and be able to solicit school systems for a "Enterprise" edition that supports their formatting requirements.

As I have already pointed out in the past, there are many mindless groupies of "the king of misinformation” who would blindly follow and extol “king’s” "terrific" recommendations, without even testing the software he is touting so loudly.
Many of his suggestions are either inaccurate or downright wrong, but what’s even worse is the fact that the links he gives in his recommendations are often deemed either suspicious or very dangerous.

Kudos to those posters who brought up this issue again today, because
thanks to their warnings many a blind follower of “the king of misinformation” have a chance to avoid some serious trouble and escape from the danger of exposing themselves to the very questionable download sites.

It’s time to expose "the naked king of cut, paste, and misinform".

@11 Nowadays, most browsers will detect an .exe file even inside a zip or other archive, and balk at sending it. For sure Gmail will, which also means Chrome. Easiest is just to rename the file extension to .ex_ with a note for the intelligence challenged web users.

If you get malware instaled from Giovanni's link - it is located in the directory c:/ProgramData/0C1CFB0BB5B51E63495295DBF875F002 (at least that's where it was for me). In any case the executable file will be in the last directory created in ProgramData.

easyQUIZZY Almost Hits the Bull's-Eye BUT Falls Short of the Mark!

I use Adobe Presenter 7 and Captivate CS5.5 for creating interactive quizes. It would be unfair to compare eazyQuizzy to any of the aforementioned Adobe programs that cost over $1000 (as a suite). BUT eazyQuizzy has its strong virtues.

EasyQuizzy's EZ price tag makes this program highly attractive. And it does a nice job of producing an effective quiz sans the mega eye candy. PLUS a simple quizz can be produced much faster in easyQuizzy than with the Adobe eLearning programs. BUT easyQuizzy's limited output severely shortchanges this program.

Primary output is an EXE file! Yeah right! What with Windows, eMail systems, and people in general being so rightfully paranoid about viruses and malware, homecooked EXE files are sorely frowned upon.

If easyQuizzy could output to something--html, java, PHP, or whatever--that could present the interactive quizz on a web page, then--BINGO--this program would be an awesome deal at $25.

IN CONCLUSION, the highly limited output significantly limits easyQuizzer's usefulness. Thus, a software that could have hit the bull's-eye and become a big winner...falls short of the mark! 'Tis a huge pity.

I'm certified educator and can tell you that quizzes, multiple answer questions, yes or no and if the word is already included in the question do not help in education of the kids because the logical part of the brain associates the obvious answer with all of the relevant words in the question and create short term memory by association of wrong subjects.

We do not allow any longer multiple words as answer and answers with yes or no or any association with similar words.

To quiz someone means to certify a previous knowledge of the subject and not to re-associate it with something else.

This software is wrong tool for education or even for fun. Laughing at yourself about the lack of understanding of the subject or spelling or mistakes made in association will make you less knowledgeable of the subject in question.

The right approach would be to associate the learning with an event, picture of the subject, narrative story or historical event and not to make fun of the education at all. Our kids are at the bottom of the education level compared to the rest of the world, because we do not take the education seriously.

I'm pretty disillusioned with this software. Firstly it installed itself to some obscure folder for which I had to hunt, then, when I open the programme, a pop-up tells me that I have to purchase a license and/or enter the license key, otherwise I'll have a yellow adbar proclaiming 'this is an unregistered version' across every test I create. Really??? This is before I even create anything, for heaven's sake. So where is this mythical license key? Without it, it's just another evaluation copy.

Furthermore, $25 for this must be a joke.....I think I'll be uninstalling this one. Thanks but no thanks, GAOTD. NetCrate - you should wake up to yourselves before offering this to us.

I've been retired from teaching 6 years and even I can see the two big problems with this software:
1) it doesn't create files that are easily transferable between different software other teachers use,
2) this program is free to ONE user. The large, city- or countywide- school systems are going for very standardized teaching, due in part to many more people moving during the school year, as the Middle Class in America disappears, and so that relocated students will not be lost in the same courses by a different order of teaching. This software is not setup to be easily accessible by internet to multiple teachers.

I got started with using quiz software over 10 years ago, and while my son lo longer appreciates any help, I still try out any learning programs that I see offered here.

What I’m missing most with today’s program is an easy import feature from Excel (and export) as well as an easy printing option.

There is no great science to setting up lists in Excel and strangely my son never minded typing up what needed to further study in Excel so from there it was an easy upload into our favorite programs. By him typing it all up, ½ of the studying was already done.

So, here are my overall favorites:
Flashcard: http://www.digitaldominion.com/products/tyb/Screenshots.aspx
Has all the eyecandy, easy import from Excel, up to 3 answer cards possible. Comes with a pricetag, but well worth the money we paid for it (Think about all the time retyping things). No longer in active development, but it works just fine. Has a few uploaded sets online.

Quizzes: http://www.qedoc.org/en/index.php?title=Main_Page
Very expensive, but has a home version with the catch that any modules are published online. Modules can be played online or with a separate player module. Development is also down, but still worth checking out to see what a good quiz software can do such as:
many different question and answer types, html formatting, integration of database features so that a test is different every time it’s played

Greetings, AlexSJ

It appears to be a quick down-and-dirty type of quiz creator. I think I may find some use for an ESL student.

I did notice something that I would prefer seeing different when results appear as to answers being incorrect. When I created a multiple correct answer scenerio, and ran the test and opted two of the three correct answers, the results seem to indicate the two answers I selected were "Incorrect." In fact, the two were correct, but required one more correct one. It may seem misleading to a student.

Hope this helps. Thank you NetCrate.

The world is not only made up of English speaking people and a lot of disabled people do use speech synthesis as they might be visually disabled of physically handicapped and can't use mouse/keyboards etc.

I was impressed. I was expecting something that you could just as easily do on a word processor bbut this is much more versatile. More impressive, I was able to install it under Wine on LinuxMint12, and activate it successfully. I even got a program icon under "other" programs. Since schools are turning to OS's like Edubuntu and Sugar to solve funding, licensing and malware problems, it's a good thing that developers are beginning to take notice.

Regarding Quiz software
Educators today seem to think that children need to be enticed by magic lantern shows before they can enjoy a quiz. Also, i've seen some quiz programs that make a big thing of cheat prevention methods.

Neither of these things matter as far as I can see.
Children learn from enjoyable competition - playing on their own to try and improve their last score or playing an opponent.
Two that i've used with some success as a teacher are Quizmenu and Outwit (both free). Neither has loads of bells and whistles but both provide remarkably easy methods to set Quizzes and children enjoy the competitive element.

I agree with comment no. 2 when he/she mentioned that "many schools do not allow teachers to install software at school". There are actually two issues. One is for the teacher to install this easyQuizzy on their own desktop/notebook. The other issue is to allow the students to run the EXE file to run the test.

May I ask if this software is portable? If it is portable, then there is only the issue with the students.

I would also like to ask on the way where the results are saved. Is it saved locally? Can it be emailed back to the teacher? Can the result be imported into excel for analysis?

Thank you for feedback and prompt reply.

Not being an educator, I'm in no position to say whether this software is useful in a classroom setting or not. However, it may just have a place at home for parents that are interested in their child's education and take the time to work with their children. I can see a very good use for this software if a child is falling behind and/or a parent wants to help their child advance.

In all fairness, Stortch may have been using voice recognition software compounded by a bad auto-correct (eyepad instead of iPad)or he/she may not be mother tongue English. That said, for two lines the number of faults made me chuckle.

As for the giveaway, I'm not sure I have a use for this personally. I may still download it to play with, but I'm not sure, based on some prior comments, that I want to get to know software that seems outdated. I tend to agree with Zdenek Rotrekl... but I can see some use for the app.
I don't care of SCORM because quizzes can't be part of my students evaluation (they must write essays!).
But quizzes can be a good way for them to check their knowledfge prior end of term.
easyQuizzy is simple of use and straight forward. For me, it's simpler than other quizz programs and I just want to offer my students some more learning tools, it may cut the mustard.

That said, there is some important limitations...
- no audio/video
- no possibilty to add explanation in the final report. I don't want just to give the correct answer. I'd like to explain why the answer was wrong (in the case the student gave wrong answer!)

Pretty good, overall, given you know what you can expect of this tool.

I have seen a lot of similar quiz makers and I have to say that 10 years ago it would have been wonderful, but today I would say it cannot compete even though the price is wonderful.
-First problem is the fact that the quiz exports into exe format. We live in the time of internet and students want to have everything online. Therefore the quiz should export to HTML or SCORM to be deployed into a VLE.
- Second, the interface is clear but I miss icons and some fancy things.
- Third, there should be the option to insert video and audio into the questions.
- Fourth, the output is clear but not fancy. Students do not want to be bored by an uniteresting quiz.
-Fifth, there are just 6 types of questions. Drag and drop and click the map are missing.
- Installs well on Win 7.
To sum it up, it is a nice and clear piece of software but old-fashioned.

I'll download this later this morning and test it, looks like it would be good to use for makeup tests for students returning from absences, extra credit activities, etc.
#2 AP Clarke, another limitation is a lot of school districts will only allow "District Approved" testing software, ostensibly to promote uniformity among classroom computers.
#4 Leo. Hot Potatoes was popular awhile back, but I don't think it is supported anymore, this looks like a good replacement and interface looks easier to use. There is commercial testing software out there, but it is expensive, Title 1 funding might help out. LanSchool in particular has a testing feature, but is designed for large labs.

I have tried all the available quiz makers on the market, but I have never heard of this one, but it doesn't mean it is a bad software.
Ten years ago it would be a top notch piece of software but nowadays I cannot imagine any use of this software. Here is why:
- The modern quiz makers and builders all publish online or to a SCORM format so the tests can be deployed into a VLE. This programme publish only to exe, so the distribution is a problem.
- The interface is clear, but not impressive. You will not get lost, but you will miss the modern icons. As I say above, no problem 10 years ago.
- The number of question types is limited. There are six types of questions which is far from enough nowadays. There are Yes/NO questions, Multiple choice, Multiple answers, sequencing, short answers and matching. Drag and drop or click the map questions are missing.
- The resulting test is clear but nothing fancy. You cannot enter any multimedia. The only thing you can insert are images. Not enough nowadays.
- The good thing is that it installs without any problems and the application is lean.

To sum up, your students won´t be happy to get tests in this form, and you won´t be happy making the tests.

Vista 32bit. Simple Download and Install. However, on Finish install it auto-launches and asks for the registration key. Took a minute to figure out I simply had to kill the program, then run the Activate program in the zip, and then everything worked fine.

I have to say, as someone who is an educator and frequently makes quizzes, this is really a very nice program. I think the price is very appropriate and the capabilities of the program are outstanding. If you use it simply as a parent to quiz your child at home, it is very easy to use and well worth the payback from a better educated child. Definitely a keeper! Thanks GAOTD and NetCrate!!!
