Everyone (and #63), Easy RSS Content Generator does above-average Registry damage. Almost all software installations do some (or much) damage to the Registry and shared files, and sometimes to shared multimedia utilities (Flash, QuickTime, etc.). This one changes shared registry entries to point to ComCtl32.OCX, MsComCt2.OCX, and MsWinSck.OCX in its installation folder, instead of \Windows\System32 (in Windows XP). Further, it's changing a couple of interface class entries which are usually only changed by spyware. It's a big no-no for installations to hijack shared files. #63, your shared files should still be present, it's probably the damaged Registry entries that are causing your problems. In Windows XP, you can probably do a System Restore, if you have a restore point which is recent enough not to do any damage (I recommend setting a restore point immediately prior to software installations). GOTD should have a programmer check for Registry and file damage done by installations prior to offering the software.

Interesting, though it seems there are many other rss tools in the freeware section that could do this job.

My comments don't seem to be being accepted at the moment. ???

If you want to give this prog a miss for the present, but think it may be useful, then download the demo from the home site (address above) Download the give away and activate it to get the activation code, then save it to a word doc or other. It activates the demo from the home site on a computer not connected to the internet, meaning it will activate any time, not just on the day of the giveaway.

Thanks for this software. I may have a use for it when I get back into keeping a web site up and running.

This isn't useful to me at present because my website is still under construction (laying dormant, more like, lol), however I have downloaded the demo from Extra Labs software’s homepage:

http://www.extralabs.net/downloads.htm

and activated it on a computer unconnected to the internet and it registered okay, which means, you could save the demo file, with a copy of the activation code and use it at a later date if it becomes useful. Of course you'll need to download the giveaway version as well and unpack and activate it to obtain the activation code. :)

To Swan, ignore the slurs on your person. They aren’t worth getting upset about. :)

Augh... uninstalling this app removed COMCTL32.OCX from my system. No uninstall program should remove a shared file unless it is positive it installed it. Nice application, needs work on the install app. Off to replace my shared files.

Take a look here on GOTD freeware library:
http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/freeware/search.php?string=rss
to find more RSS handling software.

There are so many of them that I wish I knew which one is better able to automatically publish the search result; it seems that ERCG can't do it automatically.

Anyone knows any of those programs listed at the above link that could do it? I use NetObjects Fusion 9, a website editor (FREE on PC Pro (a UK magazine) Cover CD/DVD currently on sale).
