"My challenge question to you is, why shouldn’t software developers charge for their work? Here’s what you said:
“Price is one of the biggest turns offs for a prospective buyer. People get drawn to freewares, if available. So developers need to think twice before settling down on the price and features they are offering.”

Sure, free is great, but people out there are basically good; they have character and they like to reward good works and deeds. There’s nothing wrong with this software. It does what it says and it’s easy to use. Why should that be free?

Not everyone only wants something for nothing, Andy. Most of us have integrity and don’t think the world owes us everything because we were born."

:o
Cool down buddy! I didn't mean to offend anyone!

Sure people have every right to rewards. But there's something called "Value for money". The domain of software development is pretty competitive especially with alternate freewares. So developers need to think twice before settling down on the price and features they are offering . There's nothing wrong with paying, but IMO, this software is a little over-priced.

Besides, you are always free to donate to the developers of the freewares, if you like their work.. :)

I'll agree with Athan (#25). There has to be some features added to it (like sorting videos) to make it worth the price.

Like Athan#25 you really can't go past Windows Live Photo Gallery.
And you can get it free, too.
Its importing function can 'sort' photos upon import into folders and subfolders - if required - but that's so much old school!
Folders are dead. Cameras place a lot of information inside the jpeg files and WLPG can use those elements to sort and select your photos however you want to see them.
Folders are irrelevant - when you can get the same value other ways: time, place, tags, people... Every which-way.

I am having the same problem Lavarock7 had (above): Installed on Win7 and run a couple of times. I am getting an ocassional error: Cannot open file \settings.pss Access is denied.

I ran the setup program and had it install to my D drive. The software code in the program is still deafulting to the C drive for this error message. Can someone help? Or is it time to uninstal?

Thanks

Installed it on Vista Home Premium, Dell computer @ 2 GHz and 2 Gigs Ram. It installed and worked perfectly. I gave it 500 MB of pictures to sort and it was done in well under 2 minutes from the "Go" button.

I was pleased by how many different options there are for sorting and the options for how the output is labeled.

If you're looking for a sorter, disregard the low ratings and give it a try for yourself. Most of the "thumbs downs" were there shortly after it was posted this morning, I doubt many had even tried it. After all, its free and if you don't like it, you've lost nothing. Works well for me.

This software was too simple and with obvious interface and functionality limits and beside that the interface seemed to have strange glitches on my Windows 7 (When I drop down the list to select options I see empty space, I have no idea why the options are not showing up).
You may want to check out a clearly better alternative: Smart Photo Import. It can do the same and much more, it has an advance thumbnails browser and it can import or reorganize photos and videos in your pc. Supports Automatic renaming (by Date/Description/Serial), Can divide folders in tree by subject and Date in various options (even to the day), can automatically rotate pictures when importing or sorting and you can simply drag drop entire folders or files in it and have them reorganized. You can find Smart Import at www.nwspro.com

Installed easy. Copy and Pasted registration name and key successfully!
Ran program and chose three different directories with photos - found approximately 4000 photos (15 GB) in seconds.
Chose to leave sorting function at default settings but chose to move the photos to the program's default folder.
Took eight minutes to sort into 12 folders (sorted by year, some contained subfolders for months, I guess).
The 'not sorted' folder held 576 photos, almost all of these were copies of photos and didn't copy the exif data, screenshots or stuff taken off of the internet.
Overall, I think the program did a very good job and 15GB in eight minutes is pretty fast.
The ability to set your own sorting parameters is well worth having if you do a lot of photography or just have a lot of photos.
