Usually I install my new software before the time expires, and try it later when required. This time I actually had a quick wizz through the programme. I had installed it to d: drive but found all the templates on c: and everyone said they used a lot of space, so I copied them to E: and then I tried them and they worked. Registration was easy, despite putting the wrong email address in first time, just reregistered. Then I clicked on an award template, edited it in my favour and proceeded to create the certificate. easy peasy. The final product was a jpg file. I also noticed you could just go back with the buttons to change an item, people were commenting there was no undo. It was adequate for me.
Thanks all concerned for some very easy to use software.

with adobe giving away free older versions of their software, adobe are setting the benchmark pretty high for programmes like this to try and compete, after a try out, ill stick with the free edition of indesign

For people complaining about not being able to use their own picture to start from scratch: if you choose the custom template then you're able to import whatever picture you want. After importing, you can then customize to whatever finished result you want.

this is a bit bizarre- at the company home site's download page-

[ http://peridotec.com/download.htm ...]
Easy Flyer Creator is listed as Free Desktop Publishing Software and indicates a file size of just 75.4 MB, but click through and you end up at http://www.flyerscreator.com/ and the $39.99 price.

the download link supplies a 98 MB file, though.

pretty interesting software. I'm calling it a keeper, though it isn't something I'll be using often.

I too run into the screen resolution problem with this software. It is certain that I am not going to change hardware settings to accomodate one software. This is a world of multitasking. What if I want to jump over to my photo editor to adjust a photo I want to put in a project?

Thus I find this software unworkable.

In addition, I was making some changes to a template. The adjustments appeared correct in the preview pane but when I went to save the project, only THEN did it cough up one exception error or setting error after another. In the end I had to use Task Manager to close the window. Why does the software even accept out-of-range parameters without an immediate warning? Very poor.

Thus you can tell that I am not at all happy with Easy Flyer Creator and am uninstalling it.

Chad @ #39 makes a very good point about Adobe Creative Suite 2. Not sure if Windows 7 or 8 are supported, but should work in "compatibility mode". The result would be far superior and the software a very valuable learning experience.

Thumbs up for the comment Chad; Thumbs WAAAAY DOWN for Easy Flyer Creator, regretfully.

I used my Admin-privileged account to install the program on my XP Home system. Despite choosing to install for "all users", Easy Flyer Creator v3.0 was not registered for all the non-admin user accounts. I had to launch "EFC" in each non-admin user account and re-enter the GOTD activation code & user registration info, a pain.

I notice there is no "Uninstall Easy Flyer Creator" shortcut provided in the application's launch folder (Start Menu > Programs > Easy Flyer Creator).

Also, I allowed it to perform the install of .NET 4.0, something I'm starting to regret. I'm not sure if I already had it at the time. A pre-check would have been nice (Something like "... .NET v4.0 is not installed -- would you like to install it (necessary for this application to function)? Y/N")

EFC work OK in the admin account used to install it.

However, I got the following error box to pop up when launching EFC in each of those non-admin accounts, both before and after restarting the machine, and even after running Microsoft update multiple times to ensure the latest system and .NET updates were applied (that alone took close to 1.5 hours to implement) followed by system restarts:

--------------

Microsoft .NET Framework

Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.

Attempted to perform an unauthorized operation.

(The results of clicking on "Details" in this first box are copied below, After clicking on "Continue", an empty window pops up titled "Form1". Closing that box allows Easy Flyer Creator v3.0 to continue to launch.)

@ $22:

Is this v3.0 Different than (or an update to) the v3.0 that was offered here in July 29, 2011 ???

the digital signature and modification date are both August 29, 2011- so it's a month newer, but how much has changed I'm not sure.

I'd guess not a huge update, but that's only a guess.

"#5 #24 – the need you have problems with, the program asking to make mods to your hard drive, that is your security settings doing that.
You could just lower your settings lower and let everything access your hard drive unquestioned."

The only other programs that ask for permission are programs that ACTUALLY MAKE CHANGES TO THE HARD DRIVE, like defrag tools, registry cleaners, etc., OR when you're actually installing a program. There's just no need for a program like this to need those permissions. If I was getting this prompt on every program I ran, yes, I might need to change the security settings. But that's not the case here.

Hi Everyone,

I usually read all the comments and make my decision to download or not based on the number of positive/negative comments made. However, sometimes I just give things a try for myself rather than listen to what has been said, this is one such program. It is a dream program to work with, I watched the video first, read the instructions, downloaded, installed and registered all without a single problem. I love programs that are simple to use and does what the developer claims, and this is one such program.

If you read the "Read Me" txt file, before you try to register and or use the program, you will know what to do and it should do it w/o question. Most people, me included usually ignore the "Read Me" txt, but it is there for a reason, so my suggestion would be to use it.

Thank you GAOTD for this one as it is truly worth the time and efforts to download, besides being a "Freebie", it will be a much used program on my behalf.

Why are all these commentators focus this forum on download speed and Megabytes, when today 1TB hard drives cost only $60 (check Dealnews.com)
OptimumOnline cost $30/month for 3-15Mbps range. I guessing everyone is so engage with their iphone, ipad, or ipod touch and forget to check the calendar that today, as of this writing, it's "2 0 1 3" no-longer 2000 and 3!!!

Had this last time it was given away. Actually got quite a bit of use out of it, though it at times was a little buggy. Hopefully this version is better. #13 - If .net Framework 4.0 makes your computer take 5 minutes to boot up it might be time for a reinstall or a new computer. Have xp myself, computer boots in about 45 seconds! And to the commercial use whiners...commercial use means you are going to make money from the use of the software...does not mean you can't use it to make a flyer for your own business use!! Where is my tin foil hat?

This is great for those who need "over user friendly" (as in it does things the way it wants to do things, not the way you want to do them). I would recommend downloading Adobe Creative Suite CS2. Adobe has disabled the activation requirement and will give you the serial numbers along with the file. That's right, they're intentionally giving it away for free!

My system is up-to-date with .NET Framework 4.0 after MS’ most recent update. I’ve read in some of today’s (and past) GotD comments that Easy Flyer Creator actually downloads & installs .NET Framework 4.0, — whether it’s on one’s system or not.

For those who’ve already installed EFC, does it first ask permission to install .NET Framework 4.0, or does it install it automatically?

Many thanks in advance :)

Not sure what the beef is about download time. Mine took 5 mins. I have had individual file download times of several hours. So this was a breeze. As far as Installation. The whole process from download to install took less then 15 min. It had a pop up telling me that my resolution is too high to use this program and it asked me if I wanted to change it. I did a restore point before I said yes...just in case. When I logged back in the pop up said the same thing about my resolution and although I saw no difference I just clicked "no" this time and proceeded to test the program. This is a keeper for me. The pre-installed masks alone will be of benefit to me. I still have to figure out what everything does. But there is bazzillion options. I tried to resize a photo to fit a pre-installed frame and wasn't able to figure out how to do it but I am sure reading the help files will give me the info I need. Noone wants to do any work for themselves anymore. People today want everything automatic RIGHT NOW! By the time the kids today turn 60 their brains will be mush because they don't have to use them for anything not even common sense anymore.
Thx GOAD I'm gonna be using this one.

PS Right now I'm having a free scrapbooking software giveaway. Just go to my site for all the info.

Crashed with a visual basic "Verbona font does not support bold" error when I tried to run. I can't be bothered troubleshooting or downloading fonts, so uninstalled.
Too bad, I was interested in the ticket making function.

Don't forget to hit microsoft update for the security updates to .NET Framework 4.0 after install as mentioned in the fine print at the end of the installation.

Re #13, slow start up on XP with .NET 4.0

Mu virtual XP with .NET 4.0 in ready within 30 seconds after starting.
It is based on the free VirtualBox. I use it to test giveaways to keep the underlying W7 laptop clean.

As the virtual XP is for testing purposes only, it does not have to load lots of software during startup. Among others no virus scanner is implemented. I do not need that, because it runs in the frozen mode of Toolwiz TimeFreeze. So after a reboot, it is clean as before.

And I allocate at least 1.5 GB RAM to it.

NR 6: Toobad you don't feel the SAME about active X, Flash and Java. If you did, we would be spared you "bs" posts. Have a nice day.

As for the program, as another poster stated, it's a little big for what it does. The templates are the overhead. Compaired to Microsoft Publisher, it too bloats itself with templates and files that it creats. This would make an great tool to have onhand for someone who is the head of a club or even church group who needs a quick flyer and doesn't have much time to learn publisher, paintshop or print artist. Though the beforementioned programs have been around for years and do more just pump out flyers, sometimes one just needs the basics. This program fits that need for newbies or for those who just need a screwdriver instead of a cordless drill.
Thanks Goto and Peridot.

@#3 You are incorrect. There IS support for PNG and tiff, both in inserting and saving as...

I totally agree with #5. I don't get the need to allow permission to make changes to the computer with every application start. What is that?

Regarding the size of the program, there are over 160MB in templates alone. One might delete those that are not desired to save space if one wishes.

I have VERY recently had an occasion where this would have saved me much time. One of the BIGGEST PROS on this software is the ability to sequentially number tickets. In my scenario, I was able to use MS Word Mail Merge to meet my needs but this program does the same MUCH quicker and MUCH more reliably.

In conclusion, I like this program and wish I'd found it earlier. I'm not convinced the price is appropriate, though. I would like to see it at $20 instead of $40 and would have bought it if it were.

Although I won't be downloading this (I already have it), I felt I had to comment.

I got this about 5 months ago. Since then, I've created some great looking flyers to advertise families/friends businesses. For those who complain about the templates - use them as a guide only and incorporate your own images and text. The beauty of this program is that it takes the guesswork out of it and it's extremely easy to use.

Also, for those who say there is no way to create your own (no blank slate), please look at the *custom* option (not exactly rocket science to figure out what the word means).

I swear, whatever happened to gratitude for a free product? It seems nowadays, not only do people expect something free, but they want something that does the creative work of their brain as well. If you are going to criticize a product, look first to see if the product does what it says and contains no harmful code or unasked for *bundled* software! This product does what it says - all it requires is for people to use their creativity and brains!

These software creators don't HAVE to give their products away - and... if the unappreciative bash their efforts when they do so, where's the incentive to continue to do so?

THINK ABOUT IT.

Re #12, Vladimir. My Windows 7 64 folder takes up 22.8 GB, the Windows folder on my virtual XP 32 on the same Hardware platform uses only 3.82 GB. Both have Microsoft .NET Framwork 4.0.

If I would follow your reasoning, I would get rid of my Windows 7 and use only XP, real and not virtual. But I am keeping both my real W7 64 and my virtual XP 32.

Notwithstanding the perennial conflict between fans of (dot)Net and those who would rather drink battery acid than install anything that requires that controversial Windows add-on, at first glance this program appears to be adequate for the average hobbyist who simply wishes to crank out a simple flyer for a yard sale or school function. It obviously isn't suitable for producing camera-ready output for commercial use, but since it's not permitted under the terms of this giveaway to use this application for commercial purposes anyway it would be pointless to complain about the lack of sophistication and features needed for use in that kind of environment.

I can't help being amused by comments from folks who apparently feel obligated to complain about things that aren't directly relevant to the software being offered, but I guess that's the chance you take when you open up commentary to the population of the world at large. At the very least it makes for entertaining reading, and even occasionally provides an alternative point of view that's worthy of consideration.

That having been said, my thanks to the provider of the software, as well as the GOTD team, who goes above and beyond in their search to provide us with interesting (and sometimes even useful) applications at no charge other than the occasional obligatory "squeeze page" soliciting our email addresses for marketing purposes. That's become common practice for many companies who market their wares on the internet, further reinforcing the fact that very few things in life are truly "free" - although this software doesn't ask for the user's full name, and the serial number is pre-entered in the registration process (which I didn't find to be difficult at all).

@TK:
Some of us leave the house at 7 in the morning when the giveaway has not started yet and come home at 7 p.m. or later.
Some might even want to get some sleep before they start into the new day. So 8 h of download is horrible when you have a slow connection. Or do you have your pc running all night? Maybe you are a student, but those of us who have a hard day (and I know that even students do have hard days!) are not very keen on bulky files.

I have missed quite a couple of good giveaways and other freeware around christmas because the giveaway time was over before the download was finished, e.g. Ashampoo Photo Commander with its 128 MB because I'm downloading with 56 Kbps.

But I am still happy with this site and the excellent comments of Ashraf, Fubar, Giovanni and all the others.

Thank you all and GAOTD!

.Net Framework 4.0 also affect windows xp startup time, my work place have a server running 24/7, if it ever hang, a restart is require as fast as possible(the faster startup time is very important). With .Net Framework 4.0 installed, startup time took more than 5 minutes, with .Net Framework 4.0 uninstalled, startup time took about 2-3 minutes. You do the math.

At home, I dont mind installing .Net Framework 4.0 but not my work place.

I think its mostly affect windows xp, not vista or win7.

I can agree with WTF (#6) as i have no .NET Framework 4.0 on my system, and I don't want it, as it demands up to 1 GB on my disk. This claim is not supported by abundance of programs that needs .NET 4.0 and nothing more. Developers that are sticky for that particular version of .NET have all the chances to mark themselves as outsiders.

How is having to use .NET Framework 4.0 a negative? You may as well state that having to use a Windows OS as a negative too. Net Framework 4.0 is just part of the Windows program that does not come with the original installation.

Thanks for having added to the "System Requirements" section that this app requires .NET Framework 4.0 so that I can spare myself the trouble to download this one.

@ the usual haters: I am perfectly content WITHOUT .NET Framework 4.0 on my system so please do not start the saga of useless BS comments like you know it all...

I do not understand why a program like this would need permission to make changes on my hard drive every time I run it. That is not something most programs I use require, certainly not a program like this. Perhaps it's not a big deal and I'm certainly not an expert--but having to grant the permission is a pain, and depending on what other programs I'm running at the time, can cause significant slowdown to my system. Just curious why this is required for what seems like a basic graphics program.

Have tried this program before on a Windows 8 machine and it worked fine. However, as with many of these types of programs the templates weren't great. Creating something from scratch is usually best.
NOW, BEFORE POSTERS START COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SIZE OF THIS GIVEAWAYS DOWNLOAD (104MB): THE TEMPLATES INCLUDED MAKE IT A LARGER THAN NORMAL DOWNLOAD.. THE TEMPLATES. Okay? So please save the complaints for something legitimate.

It's a fair program, but nothing to write home about and the download is enormous, especially for those who don't have cable or a super fast connection. Registration is not all that simple either. My main gripe is that there is no undo or redo feature on here. To me, that's a must for any program where you are using text & graphics. You certainly don't want to have to start over every single time you make a mistake or change your mind! There's no support on here for png or tiff, only jpg, bmp and gif images...so you're limited there.

There are 122 templates to choose from, but they sure do look cheesy. Apparently, not a lot of thought went into creating them. The program does include almost 50 masks, and these are quite useful...even for other programs. Just make a template of them and use them in your other graphic programs that don't come pre-loaded with masks.

In total, I will be uninstalling this program, much too bloated in size and limited as to what you can actually do. Plus, the creator/developer did not add a feature to let you create a flyer or poster from scratch at all. Did it never cross their minds that we might actually want to creat one from scratch?? The only work-around for that is to select a template and then delete everything on it so you have a blank slate to create your own.

Out of five stars...I'd give it a one. Maybe Giovanni can come up with some much better programs.

4 minutes into the giveaway and there are already 43 ideas, one with 66 votes for it. But there are only 9 total thumbs up (6) or down (3). And no comments. Usually, I can understand how this would happen, but not in this case.

As for the giveaway, this is not something I would find useful. I will therefore abstain from voting and watch the usual rounds of good commentary and keep my eyes open for the next giveaway that looks helpful.

Loving this site. Sure, not all of it is for me, but it is always interesting. Thanks.
