Hey # 14. You would probably complain if they were going to hang you with a used rope. Go away if you don't appreciate what GAOTD is doing for you.

I am sorry to report that I was unable to install the software. Even though I downloaded the ware when abut 15 mts was left over, and download took hardly 2 mts, when I tried to run the Setup program, it returned with "Failed to connect. Please try again later ..". I kept retrying till now, almost 30 mts past the time, but all I got was the same message.

I am not sure what went wrong with GOTD website, as during this interval, I was able to browse other sites, and when I pinged the "giveawayoftheday.com" I got replies without any misses!!!

Strange !!!

When I tried to run it I got a German error message, even after I checked to make sure it was set to English. I couldn't do anything with it so I just uninstalled it. It's a trash program written by an amateur programmer who's hoping to get as much money for this cheaply tossed out junk as a professional program would charge.

Zirkel und Lineal Divides by Zero and Fails to Find Windows RPC Server

If Dividers and Ruler 1.0 is a typical example of the quality of coding by the developers at CAD-KAS, I suggest avoiding all CAD-KAS software.

I am deleting this program (which is not worth the Giveaway of the Day "price" of free, but is certainly not worth $79 USD).

First of all, some of the error message dialog boxes are in German (e.g., Zirkel und Lineal instead of Dividers and Ruler). The localization database needs some work.

Second of all, any compiler's debugger will catch divide-by-zero errors: Dividers and Ruler 1.0 displayed a divide-by-zero error as soon as I launched it.

Finally, I have a cascade of Zirkel und Lineal dialog boxes, each with the same "RPC server is unavailable" error. (I triple-checked Services.msc, enabled every RPC component (in addition to the RPC service that Windows requires, which is a major security flaw by the way), and rebooted, but to no avail.

I thank Giveaway of the Day for your service, but I am deleting Dividers and Ruler 1.0. The divide-by-zero error, which one learns to avoid in an introductory computer programming courses, is enough reason for me to remove this, or any, program.

Several comments have referred to free, open-source programs. There are free, open-source programs for Windows that are full CAD software application, which offer much more than Dividers and Ruler 1.0, as well as open-source applications that offer the basic functionality of Dividers and Ruler (but without the problems that I hope CAD-KAS will correct, which would be a better use of resources than bashing competitors on their home page).

I wasn't going to comment because most of what I have to say has been said already but I had to add my opinion to the rest.

The price of $79 is crazy :!: This is a very basic drawing software that is missing some key features that would only make it marginal at best. :( The developers are only out for the quick buck and this one isn't worth it. :!: (yes, I know it is free today but I am letting the developers know that if I were looking for this type of software I would not purchase it because they are way off base on their normal price)

Hi kickapoodle, you might want to try the latest version of Geogebra, which has a spreadsheet view and a bar chart command, at least. On the comparison to today's offering, I'm simply saying that, as far as math teaching is concerned, Geogebra can do everything that this program does, as a small fraction of its capabilities.
