Would be nice if there was a preview before I buy it. If I want to buy it. I won't spend $20 on a screen saver, ESPECIALLY if I can't preview it.

Graphics are OK, but it is overall very slow and choppy... Did not run under W98SE, but ran OK (save for performance) under XP-SP1.

Thanks letmesayths. Though I still disagree.... I have both the ones you mention. Yes, I would say there's a slight improvement in the look of the fish, but I much prefer the large environments of Aquazone 2. I'm sure others would disagree with both of us, lol. I'm happy playing around with all of them, but Aquazone stays on longer than any of the other aquarium screensavers I have.

regards

Whiterabbit.

I had this one from a while back, Yes I have installed the software and state: the movement of the dinosaurs make them look like they are animotion robots in a static live display.

Apart from that I quite liked this one, it could have more scenes but if I was to have a 3d screensaver this and some of the clocks featured in past giveaways would be my first choices.

If you don't like screensavers, just come back tomorrow!!!!

Thumbs up though for this one.

extract the file inside of the zip folder, then double click the activate. When it tells you you are flashing activated, then do the setup install all over again and the screen manager will say FULLY INSTALLED and also FULLY REGISTERED FULL VERSION. The GOTD OK is the signal outbound/inbound telling you and the pgm and the vendor over the NET that you are installed, activated, so, registered. If you install before activating, it doesn't know you are legitimate and waits for the protocol described above...I think...works for me when I forget. Hope IAM not too late. 11:32p cdt

I'm going to try this, but the two Astro Gemini screensavers I've downloaded before not only didn't run, they crashed the system. My PC meets their system requirements, so I don't know what the problem is. I'll give them one last try.

@Jamie, this download came with a separate Activate executable. I think that you ran Setup.exe but forgot to run Activate.exe. Check your download folder again, and run Activate before the end of the day, and that should stop those messages.

Now if I could only figure out how to get Astro Gemini's screensaver manager to install, I'd be even happier.

@ #48 I've had AstroGemini screensaver manager ever since over a year ago when I downloaded it from GAOTD. It is installed on 2 desktops and my laptop and none of them require a password to stop the screensaver and return me to my desktop.

If you're running Vista, it's VISTA that is demanding a password as part of its overzealous security defaults. If you don't want Vista bugging you for a password to unlock the screensaver, you have to disable Vista's user control security.)

I'm glad to see this screensaver offered again because I've wanted to install it on my 2nd desktop and my laptop ever since I installed it on my first desktop when it was a GAOTD last year.

I personally really like AstroGemini screensavers and their SS manager. (However, I declined to install their toolbar, too many toolbars make a browser too chaotic)

Installed and runs great on my x64 Vista Ultimate. But it does have 4 gigs of RAM and Nvida SLI dual video cards with 1 gig of video RAM, so I actually have a system that will run it correctly. My other laptop is about 4 years old and it runs extremely jerky. VERY heavy load on system, but still very pretty. (Wish I could get it to run as a standard SS from the control panel, but I have to deal with running it manually from the desktop.)

Thanks again GAOTD!!!

You must be joking. I can't be believe they would even release such poor quality software. About 25% of the dinosaurs flash in and out. Some only flash for a second then disappear. The landscape is fine, but the dinosaurs are a joke. I am running vista ultimate 32bit, and have no problem running multiple programs and watching HD programs. So I don't believe the problem is on my end. Skip this one!

These are the worst screensavers I've ever seen & this ones no exception. Couple that with an inexcusable attempt to install a toolbar & a screensaver manager & its a waste of space & time! I don't care how much free space you have nor whether or not you like these things, this is junk!
A horrible offer!

@22 Whiterabbit, i have Aquazone 2 and it does not compare to the graphic quality and realism of Dream Aquarium. The Coral Sea looks ok, but really the fish are not anywhere near as realistic. I have tried and bought many of the Aquarium and Ocean screensavers and Dream Aquarium has the most realism, followed by Marine Aquarium 3, which has a great tank, but the fish are from version 2 and need to be updated to take advantage of true 3d modelling.True the aquariums do not have as vast a space to explore, but i will trade that for realism, try it out and see what i mean.

Like someone else, I installed it on my 64 bit Vista Lap Top. And like it did for them it installed fine but does not show up in my screensaver options. The only way I can use it is if I start it manually from my desktop. So unless someone has a solution, thumbs down for me.,

Okay, good and bad, depending on your feelings.

bad ...

What comes with this is the Screensaver Manager, and it installs itself without telling you, and sets itself up as the default screensaver without telling you.

One thing it also does is default to looking for "updates". If you don't get those, the thing says somewhere, you may miss out on good software changes, and you won't find out about future offers, etc.

good ...

The manager is an improvement over the native windows "Desktop Properties" box (I am looking at XP, and also quickly checked my Vista Home Basic) in that the "Rotation Mode" lets you switch from saver to saver. I have in the past wanted that, but was too lazy to look for it on the web.

For instance, if you like the "3D Pipe" thing that comes with Windows, or you like the "Starfield" thing that comes with Windows, what Windows does is let you chose one -- later, you might switch over to the other one manually.

But what Rotation (as supplied by Astro Gemini) does, is let you check off both of them, and the Screensaver Manager will show one of them for a while, then show the other, and keep switching. (Right now, I have one of my machines set to switch between over a half dozen screen savers.)

Finally, then, for me ... I am not big on screensavers. I mostly use Marquee, with an uplifting text phrase scrolling across the screen occasionally. But I am going to give the Rotation thing a try on one of my machines, and the others are going to keep the Astro Gemini thing turned off, but available, in the background. One of the machines has a 24 bit graphic card, and for some reason, the 16 bit version of the Dinosaur thing doesn't run well on it, maybe I can figure out what is wrong with it.

To Make This Thing Behave ...

1) I go into Start Menu and drag/move the Manager Shortcut ("View My Screensavers") into the Astro Gemini program group. I never wanted them to take up to slots in my Start Menu.

2) I go into the Manager. (Either from the Start Menu item, or go into "Display Properties" box and click the Astro Gemini Manager's "Settings" button, either way works.) I make sure the Manager is configured the way I like. (No updates, and if I want rotation between a bunch of savers then I make it so.) If I have special settings on the Dinosaur saver (or other Astro Gemini saver), I set it up here.

3) Go into the "Display Properties" box, and note if Astro Gemini is the default screensaver, especially if I don't want it to be.

My one last thing is that I wish I could turn off the music in this thing -- I'd rather just watch the dinosaurs, and hear the wind and the water and the animals.

This is a really cool screensaver, but how do you get the thing off about purchasing the full version? That is annoying! I activated and fully installed it, but at the end of the "show" a box came up that asked me to register after 1 minute of play. Please help?

Umm...

I see that this thing not only installs a screensaver, but also installs its own "screensaver manager". (If you let it install into your start menu, the item "View Your Screensavers" starts the manager.)

I have SpyBot running. Every single time this thing runs, it tries to set up its own manager software as the default screensaver. (That is, SpyBot pops open with "registry change, scrnsave.exe changed from (whatever I had it set to) to Astrog~1.exe", that is, Astro Gemini's manager.)

So I go in and make sure it is not going to run.

But, another thing ... In the settings for this manager, it will be looking for "Updates" to a bunch of stuff regularly. I made sure those are turned off.

The Comment by "LetMeSayThis" #5, gets $2.50 for every person that clicks on the web link and buys that screensaver. So,"(no i am not affiliated with this site, just a satisfied customer)" seems not so honest. Watch out people, do more research before you buy anything recommended from this comment section.

Unfortunetly, to many people leave a negative vote simply because it is a screensaver and that messes up the voting for the rest of us.

First of all, running a little business (20 employees) I want my employees to use a screensaver.
We work with convidential clientdata. My employees will not be able to be behind their pc every moment. Sometimes someone is going for a sanitary stop or we have a meeting or we have luch.
The screensaver jumps in within 5 minutes and can only be unlocked with a password. I think screensavers are far from useless.
This is even a must when we are being audited for security.

About this screensaver: surely brontosauruses couldn't erect themself into a treetop. They were much to heavy. But hey, who cares, it's fun.

@29 "Sadie1Lady":
What was slowed down? You, your screensaver? Certainly not something you needed on your pc. It's a screensaver! It jumps in when you don't do anything for long enough time.

@34 "Rudi Rüssel":
I prefer an aquarium screensaver over a real aquarium. It saves a lot of energy!

The last time I said, "Yay, it's screensaver day!", I got about 600 thumbs down, but I like eye candy even if I don't really use screensavers, so once again, Yay! it's screensaver day!

Now about this screensaver; it's Astrogemini, so that means it will install its own screensaver manager. You can only get rid of it thru Control Panel - Add-Remove Programs in XP, Programs in Vista. Removal of this useless add-on won't affect the registration or screensaver itself.

My biggest complaints are that the scenes change too quickly and there are no hotkeys to change camera angles or scenes, and the graphics are a bit 1990's blocky so don't expect Xbox quality. However, that also means that the screensaver will run without problems on 1990's graphics cards.

Bottom line, this is fun to look at, and who doesn't like dinosaurs?

This screensaver installed a toolbar in my browser even though I had checked the opt out box. They were both immediately uninstalled! I wasn't impressed with the graphics, even though they weren't all that bad. There are definitely better out there such as the aquarium one mentioned above. If you don't mind such underhanded moves like illegally installed extras though, it installed and ran just fine on my Vista 32 Bit system.

Nice screensaver especially considering it's free. Comes with lots of different dinos and background music. It's quite interesting to sit back and watch and just imagine what it would have been like back in those days.

Installed without a hitch on Vista Ultimate. Now why would a screensaver offer to install a search toolbar?
The video is not exactly up to the standards of Jurassic Park. Also very idyllic with no blood - quite disappointing.
This is a Russian program, and the installation unexplainably sat there at the end for a very long time. Maybe I'm just paranoid.
Uninstalled by Revo (and it does leave some stuff behind).
