Installed over version 2.910 without any problems.

It created three extra chm. files that I don't need, French, German and Russian.

Same problem as #6 and #36.
I cannot run the setup.exe

The setup file does not work. I get the following error message: “Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. you may not have appropriate permissions to access the item”.

I am the admin of the PC...

Running Vista Home Premium, SP2, 32-bit
Tried to install on a Windows 7 Ultimate PC - same result...???

Any chance to have this soft running?

The program works very nicely in all aspects except for transparency backgrounds. A tracer image was left behind on all tests as the image rotated, very disappointing. Any colored background works fine in the multiple directions and lighting tried.

Click "Save Image", there you can customise the size.

Thank GOTD and Insofta for the update of Cover Commander.
The monitor and TV models are the highlights of the programme for me.

To register this is what I did. (Running XP SP3)

1. Extract all files into an empty folder. (Running programs from inside a zip file does not always work as expected).
2. Run Activate.exe (no need to run as Administrator)
3. Run Setup.exe
4. Run Cover Commander
5. Get to the About Box (Help -> About...) The about box should say

"Registered to GiveAwayOfTheDay-12-09"

as shown in This Screenshot

If it says this - you are registered/activated (Ignore the messages about purchase etc in the help menu. These menu items etc appear for everybody).

To resize the preview image.

Mouse Skills:

Holding the -

Left Mouse Button & Move the mouse pointer over the preview = Rotate Image.
Right Mouse Button & Move the mouse pointer UP and DOWN = Resize

I believe INSOTFA needs to work on the registery problem. I am still waiting for some response from one someone on how to resolve the problem referred to by nr. 6 & 34.

I am running Win 7 / 32 version.

did manage to get another error which reads:

Cannot execute “C:\DOCUME~1\Mike\LOCALS~1\Temp\Rar$EX00.296\Setup.exe”

about ready to give up on this offer.

thanks

Having the same issue as a few others - does not say it's registered and cannot size over 100x100. Yes, I followed the readme instructions. Ran setup, turned off option to launch the program, finished install and it exited. Ran activation, then opened program.

Really nice product! :) It's simple & easy to use, & does the job excellently, with quality. Very professional look to the final project. I make free kids e-books once in awhile, & I assume since they are free online that it's OK to use this with one. But I will contact the company & ask too, just to be sure. Thanks a ton! :)

I am also getting the access error, i cannot install the software at all.

(right-click and run as admin produces no change)
Today's game installed no trouble, and others have the same problem, so what is wrong?

I downloaded....followed directions...on my Vista 64-bit laptop it would not activate. I did not open until tried to activate. On my desktop after having trouble with the laptop activation, I followed the same steps without any problem. Why did it activate on one and not the other. It is very confusing. I would use it more on the laptop.

Msg from BuBBy (Moderator): The 64-bit laptop might be the source of the problem. Is your desktop running 32bit windows?

I installed and activated Cover Commander on my XP Sp2 laptop with no problems....until I tried to start the program. The computer froze so I had to hit the emergency exit button. Second try after rebooting, same story so I uninstalled. I then tried installing it on a XP SP2 virtual machine and everything - including the GOTD activation - works fine. There's something on my main machine that really, really doesn't like CCommander and I have no idea what it is.

According to some others, my program is registered if it says in the About file that it is registered to GiveawayOfTheDay. Mine does, so maybe I'm asking the wrong question. Has anyone else tried to size their book, screen or whatever it is you made, to any size larger than 100x100 pixels and had success? The help files say it can be resized up to 4000x4000. The program I installed does not do that, which in my case, is not a good thing.

The register part is very confusing and there is nothing in the readme that says it will still say you need to register or to look in about nor does it say anything about not installing before running the activation. I imagine many that download it will turn around and uninstall it. Seems someone could have made clear exact instructions for giveaway of the day users.

Next problem is the limited size. I see others have the same issue as it does not allow you to resize using those arrows. Choosing the other save, custom, seems to resize it the size you want but there is no preview. After saving to your puter and uploading some where, is the only way you can then see if it appears clear in the larger size you set.

To BuBBy or anyone else who might know:
There is no registration code in the readme file. I followed the directions to run the activate.exe file as administrator, since I'm a Vista user. I did NOT run the program before I activated it. It's still a no-go for me. In the About file, it says it's registered to Giveaway of the Day 12-09. Where it says (under HELP) to register, it asks me to purchase the full version and there is a blank for the user name and a code, which I do not have. I cannot create an image larger than 100x100 pixels. I tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it. Same result. When I uninstalled it via control panel, it left behind a couple of files in the registry.

Set up, do not run on install. Activate! Always read the text file before installing!

Clicking on Help and About clearly shows the program IS registered!

Some programs do not remove the purchase full version icon even when registered!

Final update: I created a CD image, didn't seem to have any restrictions, saved the image -- they didn't watermark it or anything.

So, I think that despite all other indicators, my activation and registration was successful. I didn't say it, but I have Vista Home Premium 64.

To others, simply install the software but don't run it. Then run the Activate.exe file that comes in the ZIP. the worked for me.

Update to me previous post (#23), I haven't done anything since then but I thought to click HELP | ABOUT, and there it says "Registered to GiveAwayOfTheDay-12-09. I haven't had a chance to use any of it yet, so I'll see. If I find out it's not fully functional, I'll let you know. Strange... under the Help menu it still gives me the option to "Register..." or "Purchase the Full Version..."

What is the value of this program if it is for 'strictly personal use'?

Ebook covers etc. are meant to be created for products to be sold.

The GOTD terms say I can't do that. So, I can create an ebook cover and do exactly what with it?

Terms clarification needed here regarding the practicality of this offering.

Like some others I downloaded - tried to activate before installing - said it is registered but appeared not to be so. Uninstalled - reinstalled then registered - still given "Purchase full version" in welcome screen. Help/about says it is registered to "GiveAwayOfTheDay-12-09".
I am running XP sp2
Any ideas?

Hi,
Installed fine (win 7 64bit) and did not run as administrator. But, I do read the readme's first :).
I am hoping I can use this as icons for folder or pdf's I make for homeschooling and scrapbooking. This would allow my kids to just click on a familiar icon to access what they need, instead of me finding it for them. I just played with it a little right now and I like it. Will have to figure out how to accomplish what I want after Xmas, though, unless someone can tell me??? ((No, I don't really need for someone to, :) ))
Thanks, I like new software to try and master, and figure out a new use for it-for me.

Hi all!!

Great piece of software no way!!

It is very easy to use and has a great interface with excellent features, including full control over environment and setting as well as the live view rendering option, so you can see the results as you make them.

So THUMBS UP for me despite being very computer resource intensive (not suitable for old PC with low RAM and slow CPU) and, in my humble view, quite useless for most GAOTD home audience (how many GAOTD visitors may be interested in creating e-covers?? LOL!!)

BEST FREEWARE ALTERNATIVES:

Many thanks to GAOTD and Insofta for re-offering this prog. Though I am not a publisher of books, CDs, I use the prog for special effects on photos.
The animation is too fast,so no one can see what is on the cover, but if one changes the number of frames per second to 10 (under Save Animation dialog), then it revolves slow enough to see the picture.

2 thumbs up from me.

Question: Has the vendor considered adopting this software to produce a 360 degree pano for objects?

Where do I get the code to register the software? It's activated and runs (Vista 64 bit) but how do I register it? Maybe, if I can register it, the size of my resulting images won't be limited to 100x100 (not of much use to me). I think it is the trial version until it's registered, although, on my computer, it doesn't say trial version at the top of the screen and there is no company logo on the final creation. Thanks in advance.

A few Undos would be nice, and it needs to have a File Overwrite warning.

Activation question: I understand what is supposed to be done, and I did it. I installed the program, ran Activate.exe, and then started the program. I still get the option on the Welcome Screen to "Purchase the full version." That makes me think activation didn't work.

I have to admit, first I downloaded and installed it and allowed the installer to launch the program. Then I shut down the program and ran Activate.exe. GAOTD's website said it was activated, but I still saw the option above.

After doing that, I saw Lokesh's suggestion to not run the program before activating, so I uninstalled, downloaded again, and reinstalled. This time I didn't run the program before activating. I activated it, got GAOTD's confirmation that it was activated, and checked again. I still have the option on the Welcome Screen to purchase the full version.

Any suggestions?

In the help files it says "Set the result image size (up to 4000x4000) and margins in pixels. If I enter the size manually or if I use the sliders, it defaults to 100x100 which is very tiny on my screen. Is the free version limited or am I missing a step?

Guys.. Please do not run the program before activation it..

Remove the check mark for "Run the application after installation" in the setup program when it appears and after the application setup, run the Activation program.. Then only run the Application..

Check the About in Help menu. If it shows Giveawayoftheday, then its registered. No need for any reg keys or code.

Thanks a Lot GODT

This is and excellent piece of software. It downloaded and registered fine. I imported a picture using the monitor function. The large picture file was reduced and resampled. It looked great.

I then created a CD using a logo that I had just created yesterday. The results were the same. This is very user friendly and does an excellent job.

I can also find a lot of uses for this for web work and graphics, not just for covers and CD's. Thanks for a real keeper. I'll also check out more of the Insofta software because of how well this works.

AWESOME! I was just looking for this product earlier in the week. I can't believe it is a GOATD giveaway right when I need it. :-) The price is a bit steep if you have to purchase it but the program does exactly what it says.

It installed on Vista Home Premium for me with no problems.

Use 'run as administrator' and uncheck the box that says 'run when installed' (or something similar, it's 4AM people, lol) so you can run the activation key before it opens otherwise it will say 'trial version' at the top.

If you forget to uncheck the box and run the activation key with it open, you just need to close the program and reopen it to see the 'trial version' statement is gone and you can save your work.

Thank you Insofta and GOATD! Merry Christmas everyone!
