In addition to the classical structure, the variants can improve the controller's performance with respect to dynamic response, steady-state error and disturbance rejection. The user can choose and configure the PID controller according to control scenario and performance specifications. When being applied to real-time control system, the resulting PID controller generates control action at the interval of the sampling time.
