After an initial BIG thumbs up, today I removed Clipdiary again.

Why?

At least on Vista, the program does not work well with UAC. Meaning, often pasting will not work, like the program does not have access to some protected processes.

I changed the key settings to: ctrl v (paste as text) & ctrl shift v (paste with clipboard viewer).

For example, ctrl c from within in zipped folder for 1 or more files will not work when Clipdiary is active.

Also pasting into chrome often failed.

I tried to solve it by not auto-starting Clipdiary, but to schedule a task to run at user login (of course, run with highest privileges etc.). Hoping the explicit admin rights would repair the paste options, I got disappointed. It does not solve anything :/

And a paste program that cannot paste... Big NONO ;p

So I re-enabled Spartan once more.

PS: there is also a bug. When you assign quick keys that are already used, the program messes it up totally. One can usually fix it by OK and re-entering the options, but on my other computer (which already had an older version of CD installed) the program now hopelessly 'crashes': I cannot access the screen anymore because it's cycling focus very very very fast. Only task manager can kill the process. Restarting CD immediately gives the same problem. Too bad, you lost me....

Bye bye :P

TO ALL THOSE HAVING DIFFICULTY REGISTERING

I've just installed clipdiary on WinXP & Win7 machines and registering went like a breeze. This is what I did:

Activate FIRST. You'll see the successfully activated message pop up.

Run Setup.exe. Let it run thru to the last box. DON'T CLOSE THIS WINDOW until you've UNCHECKED the 'Open program' box (or whatever it says there)

Now close this final installation window.

Go to your 'Start programs' menu at Start button. Find the Clipdiary entry, Click on it and program will open.

Go to HELP > ABOUT.

If I recall correctly, at this point a message appears confirming that the software is registered to GiveAwayoftheDay.

All done! Hope this can still help someone.

Further note (since I cannot modify my last post).
As pointed out by some others, the list is ordered in first (oldest clip) to last (newest clip).
This is probably a DEAL-BREAKER for me.
As I will usually want to be seeing what I have copied most recently, not what I copied last day or last week or last month.

If developer can provide option to most-recent-first, then I may keep this app. Otherwise, probably be removing.

Installed onto Win XP Pro SP3.

Activation procedure yields confusing result:
Activation seems to work, GOTD mini window pops up and says activated, Browser is opened automatically and sent to GOTD you-are-now-activated page. (a practice which I don't like but guess have to live with for GOTD).

Program shows 'evaluation version, 29 days left.'

SECRET IS:
Must exit/close the ClipDiary program.
Then restart the ClipDiary program.
Now check ABOUT and it shows that it has been activated to GOTD.

It would probably save a lot of questions if this extra step was explained by GOTD in the page or installation instruction.

For those that can't unlock this program, I had the same problem until I figured out what I was doing wrong. Try this:

1. Right Click on your ClipDiary icon in the Systray and click on Exit.
2. Click on Activate again. Don't know if it is necessary or not (I only started using Win 7 today) but I did a right click and 'Run As Administrator; on the Activate icon.
3. Start up ClipDiary again and hey presto, it is unlocked.

Nikolay Tiushkov or someone from his team :

I am having the same problem with registration as # 58, 57, 54, 53, 36, 35, 33, 30 and others.
The activate.exe tells program is activated, but Clipdiary still shows 29 days left.. for evaluation.
Since so many people are experiencing the same - it isn`t probably our fault.
Would developer be so kind and fix the problem, please!
Regards

RuthMarie and richardM

After installation please click Help>About Clipdiary. In the new window, click on “Enter a license key” button located on the left side, and then in a new window click on the “Register it” button. Please note that the registration key gets inserted automatically. In the next step you will be asked to restart Clipdiary.

It worked for me. Hope it helps.

Cheers,

#57 and 58, etc.,--I should have added that the surest way to stop them once started in to reboot, unless of course it is set to automatically start running on startup. Otherwise, Task Manager should take care of it as long as you can identify them all. One other sure solution is to uninstall it and reinstall it, taking care to uncheck the box calling for starting of Clipdiary before clicking on the Finish button. I've had this problem so many times that I automatically uncheck it now. Oh, and don't forget to reboot after uninstalling or you'll be right back where you started from, with it running in the background again. Good Luck.

#57, 58 & probably others, too: Once Clipdiary is opened, it keeps running in the background, which is undoubtedly what is keeping it from being activated. All Clipdiary processes and/or services need to be closed for the Activation.exe to work.

Clipdiary Help is not opening in 64-bit Win 7 on my AMD tri-core CPU. (Strangely enough, it works fine on my 64-bit Win 7 AMD dual-core PC.) When I try, it gives error 1156 (failed to open URL), if that is sufficient explanation, since the error message content is un-clipboard-able, if there is such a word. It sure would be nice if someone could tell me how to fix it. I'm not real worried about it since there is the wizard to refresh me on how to use the program and I can go directly to their web site (even though McAfee SiteAdvisor gives it a warning--what's up with that?), but there seems to be a bug here and Google shows no reliable source for a solution. Other than that, the program appears to be working just fine so far. I almost forgot, the initial settings did not include how many clips to keep available, so I had to hunt it down in Files/Options/Database. The default of 20000 is a little extreme, so I pared it down to "only" 100, which should be more than enough to handle my needs.
