007...I'm not a computer savvy person, but maybe savvy somehowelse...this screensaver was cute at first, but a little weird...one of those things that makes you wanna look at it even though it touches a weird eerie bone in your bod, and once you see past the fascination, it just creeps you out...although you're not sure why, so you just ignore it (or if you're really wise, you listen to your gut and not just your logic) and pretend everything is fine...until your computer starts shutting down, with images of the screensaver behind the image of the [very reputable, and otherwise functional] website you were just trying to look at, and tried to click your mouse so the screensaver would go away, but it wouldn't...like what else is it doing to my computer??? Okay, maybe nothing: but this is what someone who is somewhat experienced with reading energies, albeit an inexperienced computer user, might think :)

for registration issues try...after running activate.exe, open settings & it will show registered. Showed unregistered when it initially opened after install, but worked when I clicked settings the 2nd time.

I have vista and I didn't need a registration code...I just needed to activate it. Double click activate in the folder after you installed it.
I don't know why so many people were having problems.

Anyways, good screensaver but it slows down the computer.

Kind of boring when the snow man just walks in circles and puts ornaments on the tree.

I wanted to see the ending but didn't have the patience.
Haha.

Generally I enjoy the screensavers even if they aren't technically useful. But the snowman in this one just looks a bit odd, like he escaped from a halloween screensaver. It just isn't the most appealing artwork.

Installs and activates on my xp machine. Will not active under Vista Ultimate 64. It has been ran as administrator. Don't assume because it works for you that someone is installing wrong.

Installed fine on Vista Only problem - twice it has "frozen" and I have had to turn off the computer and restart. Three times and...you're out.

I know most GOTD users don't like screensavers, and it's true that most of the giveaways aren't very good screensavers, but everything 3planesoft produces is pretty much awesome. I'm just thrilled to get another of theirs because the Mechanical Clock and Fireplace screensavers were registered to my other computer and I can't use them anymore. :( (No, that really is sad. Mechanical Clock was all steampunky and awesome. Any chance of running it again?)

Thank you. Very nice screensaver. I almost did not download it because I thought I already had this one. Good thing I looked my machine over as I did not have this one.
No problems with install or reg on my end. All is fine. Thanks GAOTD. At least with this screensaver you get asked if you want the screensaver manager. I wish Astro Gemini screensavers would offer up that option.
I give this screensaver 7 out of 10.

@Thorn, #3:
Quote: "All screensavers tend to be resource hogs"

A 'resource hog' might deprive you of scarce resources that you obviously need, to get some work done. Do you really think any screensaver will not leave you enough resources to do what you're bussy doing with (which cannot be much when the screensaver comes up).
I guess, you must be doing a lot of batch-processing to be bothered by whatever screensaver.

I enjoyed the screensaver. Does anyone know if you can switch the music with some of your own choosing like you can for some of the games?

It was cheerful and colorful. However, I am disappointed to see so much of the commercial side of Christmas and so little of the reason for the season, Jesus. Although I suppose a Jesus, Mary and Joseph screensaver wouldn't have the snow in it we've all come to associate with Christmas. Merry Christmas everyone! May God bless us everyone!

Smooth install using admin on Vista Home Prem. Didn't install manager setting and disabled the cheesy music - left the sound effects on for now. I know this is only really usefull for a few weeks a year, but it is still nice to have something a lillte different from the basic screensavers that come with the PC!

Thanks GOTD and 3Planesoft!

I suppose many vote against screensavers because they don't like using any screensavers. If you do like using them, or just want something Christmassy for the kids, then this one is one of the best offered here.

No nasty suprises, you are given the opportunity to register for the company's newsletter (just press "next") and the usual screensaver manager manager is ticked by default.

Using XP Home; SP3.

I'm reading these comments and I'm a bit surprised at the cynical tone that prevails in some of them. It's Christmas guys, I know times are hard, but give it a rest! The snowman is not dangerously setting off fireworks; it's what we used to call a "cracker", it's a cardboard tube that shoots paper confetti out, accompanied by a loud bang. It's about as dangerous as a cap gun... Less so, you can't even hit someone with the cracker's tube, without it just folding up like thin cardboard. Nowhere did I see the snowman drop the used casing on the ground to liter the scene. To my eyes he seems to put it in his snow pockets. It's just eye candy, supposed to help set the Christmas Spirit, enjoy it for what it is... Happy Holidays Everyone! Lloyd

When the snowman pushes the red button it change the pattern of movement of the lights on the Christmas Tree and between the posts.

I agree. I finally got Wondershare Movie (offered the other day) to register by installing on a XP machine and literally copying the reg info over to my Vista Machine.

And please don't advise to 'Run As Adminstrator'. That doesn't work either. A lot of these products just don't play well with Vista.
Why doesn't GAOTD simply post the reg information in the instructions, thereby saving lots of this same kind of comments.

Other than this, Love GAOTD. Thanks.

Installed just fine on Windows Vista Home Premium. The graphics are great. The only fault I can see is that the snowman makes entirely too many trips around the tree to do nothing. Overall I give it a thumbs up, my grand kids will enjoy it. Thank you GAOTD.

to #17 Candace O'Shea: This SC does NOT require a reg code. Just unzip to a folder of your choice. Click on "activate.exe", a verifying box should comes up, stating that the activation was successful. Then click on "Setup.exe", and choose where you want to install it. Thats all there is to it.

I was hoping for a Christmas screensaver. This one ought to be called "Scary Snowman 3D Christmas Screensaver". The snowman is very sinister looking, wearing what looks like a witches hat and shoes. He walks around hanging ornaments on the tree and pushes a red button on a pole. I am clueless as to what the button does. This is very educational though for the children. It teaches them that it is ok to set fireworks off in front of their face. The music is worse than elevator music. I rate this screensaver a 3 our of 10. I am real glad that I still have last years giveaway, "Santa's Home" screensaver, which is pretty good. 3Planesoft usually has pretty good screensavers, sorry, but this one misses the mark.

Candace, download the program, I'm using Vista, so I click extract all components, then open the receiving folder. Click the setup, choose your options, close the program, go back to the folder with the components and click activate. You don't enter a registration code, it does it for you.

Installed and activated no problem, annoying snowman with yellow lens on his glasses. Music sounds like a 1980's video game. Graphics a bit jerky on my laptop. Was wondering what the snowman was doing when he hides on the other side of the Christmas tree out of view :) Might keep the kids attention for a little bit.

I agree with #1. Kind of cheesy, but it's cute. The music is a bit annoying, but hey, it's Christmas, the thing was free, so grab a few eggnogs and gather 'round the monitor. Thanks, GOTD. I'll keep it on my machine until New Years and maybe beyond.

You can tell if it is registered by going to the screensaver settings for the screensaver.

Install first then run the activation program.

It looks a nice screensaver but unfortuntely I'm afraid that I cannot install it in my old PC due to its low resources (RAM) to spare.

Since I'm not at home now can somebody tell me how much RAM this screensaver eats?

Cheers from Italy!!

Generally but genially bizarre screensaver. The lack of traditional music raises the weirdness factor. I like the crunchy powder sounds the snowman makes while walking. 3Planesoft makes nice screensavers as a rule, and the option to not install their manager is a big plus, but inability to choose your own music files isn't. Installed easily on both XP sp3 and Vista Ultimate. What else to say, it's a screensaver!

Not a bad screen saver for the holidays, the only thing I'm not too fond of is the squaring off of rounded objects. I disagree with #3 about all screen savers being resource hogs, though this one does peak the processor at about 80% while running. My guess is this is due to the constant view changes. I wish the developers would have let you be able to swap out your own Christmas music which wouldn't have taken that much of an effort. All in all a keeper for the holidays. I hope everyone has a great Christmas, and takes the time to reflect upon its true meaning. GOTD I wish I could drop some gifts in your stockings for all of the hard work you've done this past year to make all of our lives a bit more enjoyable.

@ Candace O'Shea
You do not need any reg.code. Only run the activation as it is written in the ReadMe file.
Under Vista it might be necessary to run activate and setup as administrator (right click).
I have Vista 32 HP and had no problems with the installation.
Good luck.

Three times I tried this, and it never gives me a reg code, there isn't one in the readme either. I have yet to have one of these programs (except the Lord of the Rings one which didn't require a reg) to install and not require a reg code which was never provided. There have been at least three I have attempted to download from here and install. Thanksgiving, Christmas, lost watch and another one. Not one of them worked. tried using giveawayoftheday as reg but that didn't work. Maybe it's Vista, I don't know.

Whatever happened to Johnny Castaway, that was a great screensaver and what fifteen years ago. You would really think things would have gotten more amazing by now. For those of you unfamiliar with Johnny, his story went on and on day by day. It took a long time before it began repeating. And what happened to the makers of flying toasters, they made some pretty good stuff for their time too. Maybe my memory is more nostalgic than accurate, but seems like ten to fifeteen years ago were the good ol days of screensavers.
