I have a laptop and the office owns a PC based SCSI scanner. This app is an ideal situation I have on mind for it. Rather than interrupt the user of the PC, I can just put docs into scanner and scan directly to laptop and no one sees a confidential document I scanned! Finally a shared scanner.
Good scanners need lots of desktop and I don't want to spend the extra money or waste the space for infrequent use to justify my own hardware. Besides scanners dont fit in laptop bags!
Scanning a fax across a network is another use, just get your admin asst. to put thereceive the fax, then put it onto the scanner and away you go!

thanks joe72#85. My beliefs have nothing to do with software.
I wrote to the company about this software, asking about licenses and so forth. Firstly they said they don't know how GOTD does the licensing but that you should only get one server and one client out of your GOTD activation in any case, so those folks who could only register one client computer, that's why.
This, it seems to me, is a fatal flaw in this software. I would need to spend twice as much if I have more than 2 computers. They ought to allow SOHO networks of half a dozen or fewer computers to use this on all machines for one low price. This software is just not comprehensive enough to be charging so much *per* computer, nor is it sophisticated enough to appeal to companies large enough to see savings in the unlimited user license. If anything, they're likely to attract piracy instead. There are far too few features to expect us to pay as much as they require for a SOHO operation beyond two computers. I'm giving it a thumbs down.

@48 Belgian dude, you said:

"I don’t know why exactly but I think you are most likely a devout Christian, it always seem to be them that are full of hate, anger and feel the need to wish their fellow man harm."

First, Yolanda NEVER said anything whatsoever about being a Christian. It is very interesting that you take such an opportunity to generalise your obvious hatred for one religion in such a way. Maybe you are really looking deep inside yourself. It is very dark in there.

#80, Banshai, normally I don't respond to post like yours, but in this case, I can't resist. "My networked duplex bi-directional Sharp all in one is as big as a house, costs a fortune ($2800), and weighs a ton." Yeah, and it's so impressive, it *requires* a low-functionality $24 program to function. It's arrogance on your part to assume that my comments were directed at someone like you who has such an uncommon setup. If your behemoth is so useless, why did you pay so much for it, and why are you letting it take up so much space? The one part of my post that was directed at people like you, was that your comments #74 and #80 show no indication that you ever tried BlindScanner, and yet you're giving it the big thumbs-up. At least I explained what the true costs and limitations of BlindScanner are, and provided a much cheaper and more versatile option for some users (I never claimed my suggestion applied to all users). A few commenters actually tried BlindScanner and were happy with the results in their environment--but again, they actually tried the software before recommending it.

Sigh...they just don't get it . SCSI went the way of the dodo..sigh

All decent scanners use usb 2.0 sigh

multi-port usb switch....sigh

scanners are cheap...ancient scanner....astonished by cheap new scanner.....double sigh :)

Not everybody uses home level equipment bought at walmart :)...my sharp networked all in one retails for $2800, and weighs several hundred pounds, is somewhat less than ancient (6 months old model) and will blow the doors off your"cheap scanner"..but I should replace it rather than use a $24 program to extend its capabilities...youre absolutely right..I just havent thought it through LOL

I have a home office network of 5 PC's, with a Canon MF8170c. Only feature of the equip that can not be networked is the scanning feature, so this might come in handy. Most importantly, I have been keeping our land line just for faxing. We completely converted all of our lines to VOIP and I would love to not only get rid of our phone line and make room in our file cabinets but subscribe to an internet fax provider and use an app like this for workers to scan in the occasional hard copied docs to fax. Anyone have use for this faxing purposes??
