Some additional (commercial) resizers (with free trials) include the very versatile TangoTools JpegSizer and DzSoft Quick Photo Resizer. Some time back, I needed a utility which could generate image files of a specific filesize, not image dimensions, for my photo host. Image Compressor 2008 Pro, which was given away earlier, would exceed the specified size limit. At the time, so would JpegSizer. I received a quick response from their tech support (on a Sunday, as I recall), indicating that they would fix the problem (change-log indicates that they did, back in version 6.3.2) and how to work around it. However, I bought Quick Photo Resizer because it did exactly what I wanted (produce correct filesize without altering dimensions). It's extremely simple to use, and has few features. When I told them it was overpriced, they gave me a discount. Naturally, thanks to nVidia, I generally can't obtain useable Vista screenshots of the things I need. For normal application screenshots, etc., NTWind WinSnap will correctly capture Vista Aero effects (almost nothing else does), rounded window corners, generate transparent backgrounds, semi-transparent shadows, etc.

Mmm, The Thumbs down has it again.

I suspect this is due to photo's,pics or any image for that matter not suitable for every PC user using this site.
Not everybody has a digital camera as well although it's getting small now, So I can only assume the *Thunbs Down* visitors to GOTD use other software.

I NEVER get so many photos on my PC as I have to this, that or the other to do them, Simple renaming of files before burning to a CD does me fine.

To be fair though although photoshop or paint shop pro are vastly superior products for photos then I giess most will use one of those.

This program is like putting Vista up against XP and stating Vista is fantastic when only fools know to keep Vista on their machines to slug their speed!
I only gave this the thumbs down due to there only being a small user base for this type of software and there's still free versions of what this does (A quick trial after downloading soon had me un-installing)
However, Thank GOTD for giving that small group of users to try this out, Will probably be a keeper for some users here :-)

Comment before download and testing.
Working with perforated cards and chain printers,
batch processing always intersted me.

So beforme making any + or - comment,
I am going to download it and test it.

And always the price ;-( snif.

You need to sell sexy and good looking programs.
No console driven programs.

#57 -- this is neither the free trial version or the freeware version. It is the registered version.

Install it by running setup.exe (make sure your Windows firewall program allows the setup program to communicate with the outside world), then run the program. Click on help, about, and you will see it's registered to giveawayoftheday. You don't need to add a registration code. It did it for you.

I don't have time to try this out but I installed it before the deadline.

I think I can make some use of it, possibly with the watermark feature if it will add it during the batch processing.

Thanks, GOTD, for all of the offerings you have for us, even if they don't meet everyone's needs all of the time. They don't for me, either, but some do, and I appreciate the opportunity to have decent free software from here.

In spite of so many bug reports (and especially since a new version was uploaded to address some of that stuff) I thought I'd give the program a shot. The batch utility does seem to be at least somewhat buggy. I've got a basic US English version of XP Pro, but when I switched the source files view to details mode, the Size, Type & Date Modified columns all just show boxes where the info should be (as if the font were missing, but I've got all the standard system fonts and never ran into anything like that with an Explorer type view).

While setting up Add Picture, I was dragging the overlaid pic around the preview pic, and it kept locking up. I had to close & reopen the dialog half a dozen times until I figure out how to avoid the bottom center of the preview image that seemed to be the trouble area. Also, the dialog initially opens below and to the right of my screen, requiring me to drag it onscreen.

While setting up Add Text, I typed the content, picked the font and tried a variety of controls, but the text never showed up in the preview. I was gonna close & reopen the dialog and try again, but the whole program locked up when I clicked Close.

This one's definitely not ready for prime time. It's got potential, but I wouldn't trust important images (or a lot of valuable time) to this until it's had a lot more testing. However, I did like the photo editor that comes with it, and I might use that some more for basic tweaks that IrfanView doesn't do and where something like GIMP might be too bulky or clumsy.
