BillW50 #38: "I don’t use the popup blocker with Ad-Watch, so that could be a problem, but I don’t think so."

My brother couldn't activate any of the GOTD or Game GOTD programs until he shut off Ad Aware's pop-up blocker. Once temporarily disabled activation worked fine.

Past comments listed under the day's offering at GOTD have found the same. (These comments were listed under the day's software, not at the forums. The reason not everyone uses the forums is they don't work like VBulletin's. Word Press/BB Press forum registration requires initial password be sent by email, which some folks don't like.) It's not Ad Aware itself that conflicts, just if the pop-up blocker is enabled.

My problem was the Anonymizer as I suspected; I turned it off and downloaded and activated with no problem. :)

Hi Site Seer (#32). I use Ad-Aware and Ad-Watch. And none of them had a problem blocking activation for me. I don't use the popup blocker with Ad-Watch, so that could be a problem, but I don't think so.

Thanks for all the comments and alternative software. In case you are using a download accelerator as I do and the download link doesn't work, which has happened, the alternative link may work. So far it has every time. (I use DAP free version.)

Yes, I did use “find duplicate files” feature and works fine. I have installed more than six of this softwares because some features are not offer by the others. “find duplicate files” is a hard to find one. I'm glad I found this software. Thanks GOTD!

>> so i checked it out myself, turns out the Duplicate Finder tool aint that hot. Firstly it had a problem loading my entire collection (of about 20 thousand files). It kept hanging while loading half way. So then i had to split up the load into 3 quarters and then it worked. But the way in which u have to sort out through the found duplicates is too darn tedious and time consuming!
Well thats my 2 cent review on the dup finder. Hope everything else works well for u. Cheers.

curious, has anyone used the "find duplicate files" thing? Does it do a good job? From what i can see it seems to be kickass for everything else but i havent hear any mention of the dup finder and with the amount of music ive been downloading lately, i really think i will need this! So what do u say fellas?

Re #28:

If you can't connect to activate then it's possible either your server or GOTD's was too busy at the moment, try again. (Hopefully that's all it is.)

It's also possible you are using a firewall that conflicts, if so then try temporarily disabling your firewall and try again. Certain pop-up blocker programs also conflict, like Ad Aware, if using one of those then try temporarily disabling the program.

If you connect to the internet through a proxy server then getting to the web site will work but activation may not work at all. If that's the problem there's nothing you can do.

BTW, with over a gig of music, you'd want an automatic tagger too :p

Hate to say it, but this is MAJOR thumbs down from me.

Must use manual tagging as automatic doesn't work as well as it should, too many CDs to shift though. Fails to work with my iTunes for some reason. I don't even like the interface, too hard to use!

#9, I have tried MusikCube before you suggested and am pleased with much of it. However as a music player has no iPod support like iTunes. I have tried AudioGrail and am pleased to say it did not mess anything up before giving prompts to change anything. However, because of this it is tedious work to search incomplete tags one by one and go through all the various windows. Not surprising that I could not find info on lesser known artists. It might do the job for people with small collection of pop music, but not for someone with over 60GB of mixed treasures.

I just tried installing it, and dragging a few FLAC files into it. Nothing happened. The statistics showed how many files were there, but no info on them, and none of the buttons did anything. ?? Uninstalled.

Does this utility convert audio files to another format? Like wav fioes to mp3 files. I didn't see that in the list of features.

Same thing again. Happened twice from the main link, once from the mirror. The zip file says file date 1/1/1601! Sort of Elizabethan. Do you think this might be a consequence of my anonymous surfing via Anonymizer that I just started using? It's a combination of a proxy server someplace and a client app locally and SSL encryption, and this was the first download I've tried through it. Let me know.

#11 - please try to re-download the package (also try mirror link). Like most of times there should be 3 files in the package (setup.exe, activate.exe and readme)

Oooh-- This program doesn't normally sell for $19.95 US dollars, as your site says, but 19.95 EUROS, which (unfortunately for us in the States) is a whole lot more money. That we don't have to pay. Thanks.

By "Automatically Albums Ranaming & Tagging," I hope that doesn't mean it will overwrite precious tags or add wrong tags without my approval.

Anyway, I will await some more reviews in the comments before I trash my music collection. I have yet to find perfect freeware that will find missing data automatically, although MusicBrainz Picard is great for accurate album tagging, Fixtunes is buggy, iTunes doesn't have a comprehensive duplicate detector, and Mp3Tag is good for manual tagging.
