Well, it's far too late to do anything about it, but I thought I should mention it.

While the portable version correctly activated as the "Standard" version of Audials, the full pc install did not do so.
That is shown as the "Free".
There are a very few differences between them, but still it would have been nice to have the installed version activate fully.

There was no issue with the install to explain why the portable activated and the other did not. I am at a bit of a loss to explain this.

I'm probably one of the biggest critics of most software offered but, those of you posting slamming this software are delusional. This software is great. The features and tweaks are endless. I especially like the ringtone maker. Awesome work RapidSolution Software

Win XPSP3 installed and register OK .

Advance instal places it where you want and untick if you dont want to be part of their usage statistics , etc.

The search function is brilliant in finding what ever Music you are looking for and for me it is worth that as a search engine alone.

Right click on any song and click to play or record. It recorded and converted flawlessly.

This version will not let you record any video without paying to up grade. It will play the video however.

So you can use other software if you have it, that records video playing on your screen , or hover over the search title and it brings up , the site hosting the song and the exact title .

You can then browse to the site yourself , find and play the video , and record video for free with something " download helper" a free plugin for firefox .

All those people who grip "is it legal " make me sick . If you even have to ask the question , don't download it and don't use it, but dont try and put sensible people off.

The analogy I would give is you are only supposed to drive a car if you have passed your test and have a license. It is your choice whether you drive or not.

However these spoil sports would try to put people off buying a new car on the grounds of , is it legal to drive it! The same sort of people who probably end up in jobs as parking enforcement or health and safety gone mad , or anything to impose and restrict the freedoms of the masses , which is against the ethos of the internet.

In Defense of Audials One 9

Tonight I needed to record a live webinar. That was easily and effectively done by using Audials native screen recording feature.

The company hosting the webinar employed anti-recording measures that initially defeated Audials 'automatic detection' and record feature. But Audials has a manual mode...that nothing on the web can beat. Learn to use Audials advanced features and you will be able to record anything you want anywhere on the Internet. No video or song is safe from Audials.

On the other hand, other posters are dead right about the developer's deceptive advertising about this so-called Standard version vs Platinum version. When I bought Audials 8 and later v9, there was only one PAID version available...it is simply called Audials One 9.

My previous post reported the developer's other unsavory business practices....but hey, if copping music and movies is your bag, then Audials is your software...no other software under $100 does it so well. Also, you will quickly recover your 'investment' in buying Audials from the ton of money saved by never having to buy music ever again!

Well this was a waste of TIME and hard drive space. It took forever to download (after the download was interupted sevral times), it took forever to install (at least 30 minutes if it didn't crash), and takes forever to start AND stop (crashes every time). I tried it on four computers and each oe had the same issues. It was SO BAD I just had to comment so others don't wasted their time. $80 for this frustration? Stick with RealPlayer, iTunes, WinAmp, Pandora, etc. ALL FREE and tried-and-true programs. THUMBS DOWN!

I bought the platinum version of this program a few years ago and it was "okay". My main issue was that it was hard to start, buggy and frequently crashed. Multiple re-installs didn't help. It was an all or nothing proposition, either it worked that day or it didn't - no rhyme or reason as to why. Multiple requests for tech support went unanswered (to this day I have not heard from them).

Before I purchased the platinum version, I also got this free SE version and quickly outpaced it's meager offerings, so I went all the way and got the platinum, but it took up HUGE space on my HDD and only worked 50% of the time.

My experience, for what it's worth - this is a great idea, with a great interface, but don't expect it to work all the time or even half the time. And almost $80 for the full version is WAY, WAY, WAY out of line.
