I followed the instructions about using F11 and was able to immediately and painlessly register the program. Clicking the "About" tab shows that I am the registered buyer until 2116. Thanks so much, GAOTD and Helpsoft. I love these kinds of eye candy programs!

I installed it and tried to activate it by pressing F11 and pasting the code from the read me in the field on 10 year tab. It accepts it, and appears to save it. However, when I check the about, it says is expires on December 15, 2016. I have closed it and tried several times with the same result. Hopefully, there is a fix for this.

Mike McClellan,

Give me your email and I'll give you a personal code, and then check what license you shall issue the license server. I watched all the logs on the server and have not found 15 December 2016-only 15 December 2116

The program looks very cool. Didn't have time to try it.
Couldn't figure out how to close it. Had to use task manager to shut it down.

Jake,

See Help - F1? The close button in the upper right corner - move the mouse. Button transparent so as not to interfere with the moving picture

Same registration error problem. On Top of that the installer itself is suspect, at least to me; it doesn't show you where the program is being installed or install progress.

I just thought I'd give it a try and the EULA stuff; Oh Man - You'd think this was some kind of expensive graphics program . . . . . . . Give Me A Break.

If you got it to register you're one up one the rest of us, but my experience says that this program isn't worth your time.

JUNK! It's as if the developer really doesn't want to give it away.

This is just not worth it. I had this program installed a few days ago from another giveaway site, installed & reinstalled and tried to put in the code with AVG off & on & firewall off and as administrator and what not and it always said License not valid. I posted 3 posts on the forum, neither the admin nor this Dimitri did not bother to reply as they probably knew they wont be able to offer a solution. I have Win7/64 and ALL the other paid or free programs install in one go in my system and get registered instantly. So, I tried this here today again with the downloaded setup and tried to put in the reg. code again, 2 times and again the same invalid code bs. I have wasted so much time on this piece of **** that Dimitri is like an enemy to me now and so are his company and products. Not worth any second more to waste on him or his silly sw.

Interesting program but I see lots of error messages like others have noted. Pressing Ctrl-Space sometimes works to hide/show the clock hands, but mostly it just opens up one of the three panels to control layers - not sure if it's the last layer looked at, or picked at random. Had no trouble registering (took a few minutes to go through) but I exited and pressed F11 again to see if the registration worked and it asked me for the code again. If I exit this box, the program reverts to a demo. If I had clicked on "About" instead of F11, I would have seen it was registered. So, the registration process needs to be smart enough to say "program is already registered, to ... , do you want to enter a different registration code." I don't think this was tested by very many people because it has a confusing interface and registration process. I'm sure it's all very simple when you know what everything does, will be fun exploring it when I have more time. I like the patterns it creates, and with practice think I can do some nice ones also. I like the suggestion to save as a screensaver. Or, when saving as a movie, to add audio and save it with the movie. Didn't see a way to save as a movie, but the help (or something I read!) made me think it should be possible. More to learn!
Thanks GOTD and Helpsoft.

Finally got it to register. I'm not an expert with the laptop but F11 did not bring up the registration tab. After many installs and uninstalls I tried control plus F11 and the 10 year tab opened. So far, so good.

Installed easily on Windows 10 x64 Anniversary edition, and I have a license until I reach the age of 163! This is a really nice program, where it is actually pretty easy to make striking images, and there are plenty of options to play with.

There is one thing I dislike, perhaps because it's just me, but I would be much happier if the GUI worked in a standard Windows way. I know this makes me sound old-fashioned, but having to learn unfamiliar icons, and use non-standard dialog boxes, adds an extra learning curve that you don't really need. It would be much nicer if the normal functions applied.

Having said that, this is a very entertaining app, and shows just what's out there. Thank you Dimitri, and thanks GOTD for letting us see something so different!

Win10 works perfectly. It is vid card hungry so many not work as well for older vid cards. I've opened it twice to run one on each of two monitors and works fine. Extra vid card hungry, but fine for my gaming system. Needs a user created playlist and a user defined timer.

It would be nice to allow 3040 rez which would cover both monitors at the same time.

Perhaps allow the program to select random images from user defined folder to make endless new displays.

Probably too much trouble to program, but syncing to music beats would be awesome.
This is a keeper. Good work.

Ed,
you can run multiple instances of programs on each monitor to use its or you can just stretch ArtScope in the lower right corner of multiple monitors.

Well, yesterday's Zortam Mp3 Media Studio Pro 21.15 giveaway stung me again due to the Softdeluxe wrapper. I already had an older verion installed, but when I tried to use it, it crashed. I kept zplayer, exe, id3lib.dll, ToolkitPro1521vc100.dll, and the directories Styles, Plugins and images and could use the Zplayer Mp3 Player. Better than nothing. ArtScope 1.95 giveawayoftheday worked fine on my Windows 7 64-bit because it did not use the setup.exe wrapper file. Here we go again, the Macgo Windows Bluray Playergiveawayoftheday uses the Softdeluxe wrapper file and it crashes every time. I disabled AVG temporarily and Exited my 3rd party firewall. With my AV running it states it as Problem Event Name: BEX, error message. BEX refers to Buffer Overflow Exception. From a Microsoft Support Engineer, his definition was "Branch Extended". From the official Soft Deluxe home page, this is what it states" Soft Deluxe is a marketing service that does its job - promoting your software, raising your sales, boosting your revenues" With AVG running, I'll sometimes get a message that it's Adware_C Generic. Adware Generic it’s technically not a virus, but it does exhibit plenty of malicious traits, such as rootkit capabilities to hook deep into the operating system, browser hijacking, and in general just interfering with the user experience. The industry generally refers to it as a “PUP,” or potentially unwanted program.

The Adware Generic infection is designed specifically to make money. It generates web traffic, collects sales leads for other dubious sites, and will display advertisements and sponsored links within your web browser.

Can't Soft deluxe modify this file so we don't have to jump through hoops to get it to install

I installed this program on a laptop and a pc both running 10AU X64. I noticed on the first machine that when I went to copy and paste the registration in that what I pasted was not what I copied. So I did the process again. Pasted correctly. I opened and closed it several times and I still have the 100 year version. So when I went to register it on my laptop, the first copy and paste did the same thing as the pc. With the same string of words I saw on my pc. So I repeated the process and it worked fine. Again tested a few open and close and see that either I or my pcs will die before the license runs out! For those with registration problems, you may want to check out that. This is a neat program to have some fun with. I agree with Kestrel about saving your project as a screensaver. I'm sad at those that think it's a waste of time. I definitely think it's worth it and a keeper. Thank you Helpsoft for the generous offer!

Uninstalled. A waste of time !

The program appeared to have installed okay but after the installation and the initial startup it presented me with a bar indicating that the program was in demo mode which would expire on October 8th, 2016. There did not appear to be any way to enter the registration code. Too bad, the program looked interesting but I do not have the time to try and troubleshoot the installation.

David Robinson,
To register ArtScope, you will need to press the F11 key while inside the program and go to the 10 YEARS tab; enter the license key we give you above in the PAYMENT ID box and click ENTER. Enjoy!

I have been trying to leave an improvement idea but it won't let me post.

My suggestion is that the programme allows saving the finished project as a screensaver file, which it currently doesn't. I believe that would add a layer of functionality and purpose as well as attracting more users to purchase it.

I didn't encounter errors but got nausious after watching it a few minutes, that is not an issue with the program though. Some people will experience this, most people most likely not. For said reason uninstalled

Installed and registered easily on 64 bit Windows 10 Anniversary edition.

First thing to say is that my registration is not until 14th December 2016, it's until 14th December 2116 - 100 years! I doubt I will need it after then, and I dare say an update will have been made available.

It throws a lot of error messages when you try to load images and clocks, but bizarrely does what it is supposed to do immediately afterwards, very odd. It is clearly an entertainment/time waster programme and the firm insistence on the non-commercial nature is emphasised. To be frank, I really don't think anyone would want, or be inspired, to use it for commercial purposes.

It's a small enough programme to leave on the machine, it caused no problems with anti-virus or security software. I'll have a further play and if it is able to make screen-savers - for personal use, of course - I may keep it, otherwise I see little point in it.

Kestrel, my experience is exactly the same. Errors, erros ... and errors.. I installed, then because of errors uninstalled, downloaded again and it was the same. Waste of time...

Dmitri, having said that, there are different and longer ones when you try to save and other things.

Dmitri, I did try that but it didn't work. What I have posted is word for word as I copied it carefully.

Kestrel,
What version of the OS?
Most likely you need to reinstall . Net Framework 4 Client - https://www.microsoft.com/en-US/download/details.aspx?id=24872

Dmitri, Here's another when trying to save-

Dmitri, Nope, already installed up-to-date and fully functioning, I checked.

Windows 10 64 bit Anniversary update. May be an incompatibility?

Reply   |   Comment by Kestrel  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+2)

Kestrel,
a problem with all the examples or just sample6?
I see that you or a program tries to update data on the way 'C:\Program Files (x86)\HelpSoft\ArtScope\sample6' is forbidden by the security policy of Windows. All examples are on the way c:\Users\Public\Documents\ArtScope\

Kestrel,
No matter what your version of Windows (all tested on hundreds of versions). The computer is like a weak copy of a person - always something there. 4.1 uninstall Net Framework and install again - http://www.microsoft.com/en-US/download/details.aspx?id=24872

I'm giving it a very meek thumbs up. There are a few things that definitely need to change. The most important one is the program not prompting for an installation location. This is very bad form. I, as well as most others, like to know where their programs are being installed and have the option to change to a non-default location. Next, I get spooked by programs that come from an "unknown source." The program seems very slow. It took a long time to open and when I clicked on the "?" icon, I had to force close the program. I will try again after a reboot. Finally, the interface is a confusing to a neophyte like me. I'll give this a chance and may even purchase it if the bugs go away.

Thank you, Helpsoft and GOTD!

A $10 program for 90 DAYS?! Is this right? *sigh*...I watch this site for anything graphics related (especially 3D...yeah, I'm looking at you Curvy, missed ya last time, hoping you'll be back soon, lol), but it's pretty rare that anything shows up - so this got me all excited, until I saw the 90 day thing. You know, I'm always grateful for whatever I download from here, and I don't want to complain about something that's for free - but this makes no sense, why did they even offer it?

hamstergirl4444,

Mine definitely states that it is registered for 100 years and 90 days. I think there has been a general misunderstanding.

I uninstalled it after it became clear that I wasn't allowed to choose the destination directory during installation. Thinking I'd perhaps overlooked an option, I made a second attempt, only to receive the 'Error' message experienced by others.

am fond of things like this so I really really wanted to try this. But I try to register and then close it down, go back in, and it doesn't say registered, on the tab. It just ask you again for the key, each time I check to see if it is registered. In addition, if you read what it says above the (registration) Payment ID part, it says; "Enter the Payment ID (usually the first and last name)" - well, the key Giveaway gives you consists of a series of numbers and letters, certainly not first name and last name.

Sally,
Enter reg key from Giveaway
if you purchase the program, the system generates the key and it usually consists of first name and last name

Dmitri, I did that, repeatedly - about 9 times, but every time I exit out, re-start the program and go in and check, it doesn't list that it is registered.

An interesting program. Installed easily in Windows 10. USE THE READ ME FILE FOR REGISTRATION. A bit hard to use for the novice but I would suggest using the help files.

This could be a good program for those that are into this sort of abstract art. However, I won't be keeping it.

Enjoy the program either way.

Thought this might be a fun and interesting piece of software but I should have known better. Running on Win 10 I got some obscure error message (not a windows error) flash up on the screen, to brief to to read the program them closed. Second attempt at running same thing ... Third time lucky but can't see where to enter reg code.

DaveC,
Run application, then press F11, enter reg. key in single field

Dmitri,
Still getting errors after reinstalling all of which flash up on the screen and the program closes itself down as it did before. Managed to get it to run despite the error messages but not seeing licence is invalid ... Sorry but shouldn't have to put up with so much aggravation and hair pulling just to create some pretty pictures ... Now where did I put my crayons?

I tried to register using Giveaway Registration key but it responds that the registration key is not valid.
Any idea why?

Reply   |   Comment by Geo  –  7 years ago  –  Did you find this comment useful? yes | no (+4)

Geo, I registered it OK - eventually - after 5 tries. However, the registration is only valid until December 2016. After that it ceases to work. Have now deleted it from my machine. Not worth all the effort for a 90day piece of ******

JAY BEE, This must be the shortest time ever offered by GOTD. Middle of December is a joke. Really what we have is a piece of shareware. There are plenty of sites offering shareware, this is not meant to be one of them!

JAY BEE,

Mine says it expires after 14 December 2116.

Program is simple to use (created rough kaleidoscope in about 5 minutes), the results are pleasing, bright and colourful. Would be happy to use it with music videos.

JAY BEE, To register ArtScope, you will need to press the F11 key while inside the program and go to the 10 YEARS tab; enter the license key we give you above in the PAYMENT ID box and click ENTER. Enjoy!

Be sure to leave a nice comment if you like this offer or ask for help if you have any trouble.
