  1. Try Orb.com, free and accessible via web interface anywhere you have internet access. I’ll pass on this one, thanks anyways GOTD. So far nothing in the new year has made it to my pc’s.

  2. I already use Logmein (Free Version) from http://www.logmein.com – been using it for years, no problems, no spyware, small installation and dead simple to use. Most useful for helping friends and family get unstuck. You can talk the other party through their installation of logmein and you are ready to go in about 3 mins flat!

  3. I see a significant limitation with the file transfer mode…you can only do one transfer at a time. Let’s say I need to transfer three large video files, each in its own folder, to three separate folders on the remote computer. With Anyplace Control, I’d have to start the first file, wait for it to complete, then start the second file, and so on.

With Access Remote PC, a similar remote access program, I can start the first file, then start the second, and then start the third, so that all three files are transferring simultaneously, even though they’re being moved from three discreet folders into three discreet folders. I can thus leave the computer, and return later to find all three files have been transferred, instead of having to keep coming back.

But Access Remote PC is hideously expensive, and this program is free…today.
