This here comment has no direct relevance to the software offered or reviewed. The subject of security and protection vs. cracking and hacking, encryption vs. decryption, encoding vs. decoding, etc. is immensly interesting and challenging, on many levels of appreciation. But that should not the subject of this post.

You do have a point here…but the marketing guys (financial numbercrunchers cum mass psychologists ?) and the advertising lads (mass psychologists with a artistic twitch ?) are not software developers -who, themselves, are by far the worst of communicators immaginable ;-)
One needs expertise, sound reasoning and experience to desypher statements that seem contradictory on first sight…

The confusion here may be due to the subtile difference between “owner” and “user” passwords.

There are basically two types of PDF protection - the original PDF creator can either restrict opening the PDF file itself or he can restrict others from modifying, printing or copying text and graphics from the PDF file.

Perhaps it may take some experimenting to get “the feel” of how and why this protection scheme works the way it does. And I am pretty certain that it has to do with legal (i.e. copyright protect) issues, since PDF has become “the” standard printer interface for next to all e-publications of import.
Comparing the first paragraph(s) from the link above with AnyBizSoft’s introduction makes me think…

I love really BIG numbers! (Really SMALL ones also, btw.) The bigger or smaller they are the less they tell me something about the (tangible) world. Googling gets you ten’s of millions of hits –which I actually find rather rediculous, knowing that 10 out of only the first 100 to 200 max may be USEFUL HITS.

Much like #10. Installed fine on Vista 32 bit. After registration, it would still only do 3 pages and registration button is disabled.
Uninstalled.

Vista Business 32bit
Install went fine, activate worked, eventually (had to turn off FireFox NoScript first).

Clean user interface, easy to use. Personally I would prefer if it defaulted to outputing back to source folder rather than the "Custom" folder, but that is trivial. FYI to users, when you are "Adding" files, previously added files remain there and get reprocessed every time you run the program for new files, so you should "clear" all entries before adding new ones.

It worked quickly and cleanly on 4 of 5 (from 3 different sources) PDF's I tried, DEP'd on the 5th one.

I'm happy with it, will keep it. Much better than the similar tool offered a couple of days ago, I'll be deleting that one.

What is the use of this program? If I remember/know the password, I would anyway be using the password - if that file was meant to be protected by a password. If it was not to be, why on earth will I be using a password? In that case, WHY DO I NEED THIS SOFTWARE?

I have successfully downloaded and installed the software. To test this software, I used Acrobat Professional to create a password protected pdf, then use this software to remove the passowrd. It asks me for the password of the pdf! Well, if I know the password, why would I need this software? Am I missing something?

You still can not save filled out form data to a local drive. To do that you must have Extended Rights enabled, which it doesn't do even though the new file is named "_NoRestriction.pdf".

Will not work with Vista 64 Bit.

Why don't you developers test your programs FULLY PRIOR to making statements that a program will work on said Operating System?

Installed, got keycode, and activated/registered mostly fine (Win XP SP2). Only one problem -- the page to get the keycode did not return the code into the text box with my Firefox (v 3.5.3). I didn't block scripts or cookies on the page, so it's highly likely there was a conflict with one of my many addons. Instead of fighting with it, I just copied the URL and switched to MSIE (v 7), where it worked fine. Soon after, I got an email with the code as well. I thought I'd mention it in case anyone else ran into this problem.

Reading in the original description, "Sometimes you have the legal right to copy or print the encrypted PDF document but forget the password". Then I read, "PDF Password Remover is designed to remove the password" in the same paragraph. I thought this program was a hacker tool of sorts.

Ashraf's comment/review (posting #1) states, "Does not have ability to remove passwords from PDFs encrypted with "user" passwords if the "user" password is unknown."

Perhaps the initial description of this product should be revised a bit. Perhaps it was not intentional but I found it misleading.

I also don't get it...if I have a pdf file, need to reformat and have saved the pdf, but don't remember the password, will this help me?
The company seems to say yes, in the description, but from the comments, it seems not.
What if I download a pdf file, can I unprotected it to change it?

If I can't then what is this good for?

#11: "I don’t understand Ashraf’s comment:
“The Bad:

If it helps, say you have an e-book or other PDF doc that you can already view/read, but you can't copy, print, add notes etc, AnyBizSoft PDF Password Remover will get rid of those restrictions. If you have the password, from earlier comments AnyBizSoft PDF Password Remover can remove the password itself, but it seems only then, so it's not an alternative if you can't read/view the PDF in the 1st place. In that case Googling "pdf crack" gets 77 million + hits, so there's a fair chance you'll find what you need/want. ;-)

Plse read up on use of PDF passwords... There's two kinds of them etc.

> "of course “user” password is unknown"
What about being user yourself and having lost/forgotten your user password as applied to a pdf of your own creation but a couple of years old?
"Of course" you should not have lost/forgotten it... and "of course" this sort of program is no hacking tool - the latter being what Ashraf's comment is about.
Of course I may be mistaken ;-)

Thank you very much, Installed without a problem on XP-PRO-SP3.
I don't understand Ashraf's comment:
"The Bad:
* Does not have ability to remove passwords from PDFs encrypted with “user” passwords if the “user” password is unknown."

Am baffled, of course "user" password is unknown, I thought the removal is the purpose of the program - does it or does it not remove the password from the PDF file?

Installed and registered on Vista 64-bit. Tried on a 5 MB file and it crashed. Restarted and it says it is not registered so it will only do three pages. Clicking the register button would not allow me to register again. The un-install worked fine. I guess I'll just have to keep typing the password in.

OK, I'm impressed. I created a new PDF document with Adobe, placed a password on the document to restrict editing, tested that I couldn't make any edits and then ran the document thru this GOTD program (PDF Password Remover). The process was simple, it reported completion and, when tested, the newly saved file from this program was now editable.

Again, I'm impressed. A little scared my protected docs are now susceptible, but impressed nonetheless.

Thanks (I think) GoTD!

To #4 Terry:

The kind of TYPE IN PDF password you mentioned is user password. The author set password to prevent others from opening PDF files. AnyBizSoft PDF Password Remover cannot remove this password. It will costs hours or days to guess the right one.

What AnyBizSoft PDF Password Remover do is to remove owner password. The author set this kind of password to prevent others from copying, editing or printing. But you can still open PDF files and read them. Without PDF Password Remover, you may need to type the whole file word by word, waste precious time.

Installed OK on XP PRO SP3. The only problem I've encountered is that the program icon DOES NOT appear on the CONTEXT MENU (right click menu). I have installed the program twice - - checking every option during installation. It just does not place an option on the menu. Very disappointing!

This is an extremely useful software to own. And if you use PDF-Exchange Viewer (freeware), instead of Adobe Reader, you will certainly know its usefulness especially when you have a document that does not allow you to highlight, mark, underline, make comment, etc, etc.

I bought a software, PDF Password Cracker before, (with such function as this), because after buying a PDF ebook, I noted that the publisher locked all rights, even of making personal comments, underlining, making personal notes. PDF-Exchange Viewer, which usually enables me to mark pdf file like personal notes, now cannot function as usual because of the lock. I emailed the author, but according to him, he does not know the password, because it is the publisher that locked it. So, I used PDF Password Cracker, and immediately removed the password, allowing me all the rights I used to enjoy using PDF-Exchange viewer.

Note that this type of software DOES NOT find the password, but removes the password, resetting it, as if no password was installed. And it only removes the password that restricts rights to the documents. That means that you can only use it on pdf file that you can open and read, but with rights restrictions. You cannot use this on pdf file that requires a password to open.

For pdf file that requires a password to open it, a pdf password finder, a giveawayof the day a few days ago, is the only solution, but it might take eons before you will be able to crack it if you do not have a hint of the password, making such software really useless most of the time. But this giveawayoftheday today is different, this is practically very useful for people who read pdf files like books.

Loaded a PDF that I had, which had a password protection. Typed in password, run the app and the passowrd is removed. It works well for PDF files where you know the password and have not forgotten the password. WHAT IT WILL NOT DO, is remove a password if you do not know it.
So what is this useful for? Well, if you have a PDF document that is password protected, and you know the password, it can remove it so that you NEED NOT TYPE IN the password everytime you wish to open the file.

The Good
* Straightforward and easy to use.
* Supports batch processing.
* Supports drag + drop.
* Works very fast.
* Can remove "owner" and "user" passwords from encrypted PDFs.

The Bad
* Does not have ability to remove passwords from PDFs encrypted with "user" passwords if the "user" password is unknown.
* No way to add context menu entry if user declines during installation (bar reinstallation).
