#66, James, Aiseesoft CUDA support only applies to output formats which indicate that they're CUDA-enabled (because ffmpeg only supports CUDA for some output formats, mostly H.264-based).

#32, William, I forgot to mention, you can get CyberLink PowerDirector 9 for less than VideoReDo TVSuite V4 with H.264, or the Ultra64 version for the same price. It has vastly more features than VideoReDo, although without its error-correction abilities, supports WTV and DVR-MS, among numerous other formats, and supports a number of conversions, DVD and Blu-Ray burning, etc.

I installed AISEESOFT TOTAL VIDEO CONVERTER offered by GAOTD on the forth of July last year-2010, 39MB, to the hard disk of this laptothp, which is almost maxed, out which I need to uninstall 1st before installing this new GAOTD/AISEESOFT offering: MEDIA CONVERTER 15MB, I tried uninstalling it with my wonderful revouninstaller, that removes a ton of registry entries and other leftover junk most programs' uninstaller utilities leave behind, the accumulation of which, can really slow down a computer. It would not un-install ok. The error messagegs: cannot uninstall because unins000.dat does not exist. In program files there was only unins000.exe. Can someone from the Giveaway team ask Aiseesoft support to offer a link here in comments to a fix for completely removing the smaller in function aiseesoft complete video converter so that today's AISEESOFT TOTAL MEDIA CONVERTER can then be installed without leaving many megabytes of undeleted registry entries, and other unused lesser Aiseesoft program on the hard drive that will slow the hard drive down? Thanks in advance! Bettie Page9000

However, the registration key given with Aiseesoft Total Media Converter was rejected.

How can I now register the program as a Give Away of the Day?

Nice program, easy download and enjoyed reading all comments from users who asked questions and those who took the time and shared their knowledge with other users. I keep a copy of my "Key" for my computer data log and did appreciate the easy to read key. Thanks GOTD, Aiseesoft and commemtators for a pleasant experience.

#32, William, WTV and DVR-MS support is lacking in most converters because of prejudice against Microsoft proprietary formats. Microsoft provides APIs to access the files, although reverse-engineered solutions can work better. Unlike some of the nonsense which is often posted here, both formats have always supported DRM. Except for CyberLink, which has Microsoft licenses, I'm not aware of other third-party products which can read DRM'd WTV or DVR-MS files, but a number of products will read them if they're not DRM'd. The WTV format supports more streams, and more types of audio and video streams than DVR-MS. I've also never encountered any conflicts at all between PowerDVD and Aero on Vista or Win7, so anyone having problems must have an ancient version or defective video drivers.

My preference for working with WTV files remains VideoReDo TVSuite V4 with H.264, but it's pricey at just under $100. It's designed for linear editing, not conversions, but it will do some conversions and create DVDs. It can also be used to extract the unaltered (except for any needed error correction) contents of WTV and DVR-MS files. VideoReDo is designed to correct the numerous errors which often occur in DVR recordings. I always recommend using the latest beta. If you don't have a license, you'll get a time-limited trial to see if it meets your needs. If it doesn't do the conversion you want, you can use it to extract the contents and run that through another converter. Using the shift key when selecting Options will bring up more options (similar to the way that Shift-Right-Click will bring up more options in Vista and Win7 Explorer).

Aiseesoft has a very large selection of presets, but as always, it depends upon whether it has the presets for or is capable of doing the particular conversions which you want. Unlike most converters, it has decent WMV support. CUDA has been around much longer than Stream, and nVidia has vastly more software support than ATI, so CUDA support in third-party utilities is far more common than Stream support. CyberLink has always supported CUDA.
