Hi, Whenever I happened to miss GAOTD (holidays perhaps, or longer breaks) and started checking out what I've missed - in the past(!) my heart would sink when seeing something with positive votes exceeding 1000 (that wasn't, say, Photoshop, lol), but guess what!

You could bet it was one of Aiseesoft Softwares, in majority of cases for sure!.. If I'm not mistaken either Barbara, or Someone else pointed out already (previously) this specific "phenomena" we are dealing with here.. This FALSE POPULARITY is unnecessary and seriously - too apparent! Come on, it doesn't even "square up" with fb likes?!

Ah well, looks like nothing has changed, my heart can beat it's normal rate:), I've not missed much by staying clear from this Software and it's siblings. My 2 cents in case someone else panics..

After the box and web page appeared saying that the program had been activated, nothing happened to enable it to be installed.

"Aiseesoft is an automatic turn-off for me. By midday there will be a laughably skewed ratio of thumbs up votes to comments critical of the product, along with the usual obvious shill comments. At day’s end the thumb’s up will exceed 1,000, the only developer I’ve seen rate that high and still have so many complaints about the software. It happens every time with these guys. How pathetic to have to resort to such tactics to get people to try your product. This is not a company I would ever do business with.

I have 6 softwares from Aiseesoft. Have not experienced any serious problems with them so far.

I have been monitoring the Comments Section of GOTD recently. There is something going on.

My observation is that sometimes, there will be 1 or 2 long and rambling messages expressing hatred and vitriol far beyond the normal frustration that one may feel against a buggy program.

These messages also urge readers of the Comments Section, not to buy anything to do with that particular company.

My guess (I have no proof) is that these are not from genuine users of GOTD. They may be orchestrated efforts to damage business rivals when the latter offer something on GOTD.

Sometimes, they make a mistake and make completely untrue statements about technical aspects (easily disproved) which reveals that they had actually never used the software in question before.

Did a little research,

Average number of votes per offering on GAOTD (based on the last 10 offerings) = 592

Average number of votes on the last 10 Aiseesoft offerings = 1914

Number of votes on any Aiseesoft offering, consistently above = 1300

Likelyhood of votes being legitimate on Aiseesoft offerings = 0%

Come on really, a 5 year old could spot the irregularity between regular offerings and Aiseesoft offerings. If Aiseesoft has to pad the votes to make their product look popular then I have absolutely no interest in it.

Hi, I couldn't register this product because I am legally blind and cannot see where to type the information due to the color scheme that was chosen (I have to use windows classic to see what little I can) and neither one of the screen readers I use (nvda version 2012.1 & zoomtext 9.1) can read enough of the programs registration popup to make heads or tails of what's on screen. It is a shame I was looking forward to checking this out since my powerdvd 10 cannot output analog surround sound.

#29, Merge file is up only to 720p!!! All camcorders and many camera record movies @1080p. Merging should allow to keep near to original quality. Why spending for good camcorders and has poor record movies?

Under Apple TV, H.264- HD Video with settings of 1920x1080 with video bitrate of up to 8000 kbps and choices of frame rates and audio choices including 5.1.

Make your choices and save as a User Defined for easy Rips.

Installed fine on Win 7 x64. No virus or malware warnings, sorry to disappoint the tinfoil hat crowd.

The .gcd Setup file doesn't open, per se. Do we just drag it into the main program file?

Just use MakeMKV to rip Blu Rays & DVD. Excellent FREE software while still in Beta.

Be careful with this software, it has ability to intercept and monitor your cam, mic, what you watch on your player and probably internet communication pockets.
I uninstalled because of that.

20: It is a false positive. Avira picked it up too. But I know it is a false positive. Aiseesoft has a good reputation. Just notify your antivirus about this false positive and make an exception in your antivirus program for Aiseesoft.

To uncheck the updates, click on Tools, Options and then select General tab, and uncheck mark the box Update Settings. Click on OK. And that's it! Good program.

@Francis #22 The gcd file is part of the new GOTD wrapper, and has been in all the downloads for at least a week. It was not put there by Aiseesoft.

I've come to know and like Aiseesoft's products from the GoTD giveaways, but there are a confusing number of different product versions all built around the same conversion engine. It looks like around 50 different products on the web site, and no comparison table of features. For example does this one supplement or replace Total Media Converter Platinum?

I've used several Aiseesoft products downloaded from GOTD over the past few years and have found all worked great and are what I go to for video conversions of all types. The fact that it uses my nVidia card is a huge plus for me.

This GAOTD looks like an extremely powerful and very professional video converter software, especially suitable for Blu-ray 3D movies junkies...

Do you have any responses to the points made by @Wax?

mkv is just an avi-container stripped from the standards and safeties i.e. it's broken/borked. Why anyone would want to convert to this propietary format is beyond me, but that's a personal opinion. Luckily MKV Ripper offers more formats than just mkv to rip your files to. So, why then the rather stupid name? Just call it Blu-ray Ripper, now it's like you're trying to impress us with buzzwords.

Installed and registered without problems. Sadly, no 64-bit version.

The GPU acceleration is the only feature truly in favor of this software. Otherwise I'm not really impressed. Sure, the GUI looks nice and intuitive, it offers enough options and control, but all that isn't really remarkable in this already saturated market. It offers too little to merit it's price imho. And to be honest, I add that I didn't test it's DeCSS feature, no time for it, so I can't comment on that.

Not a definitive keeper nor an immediate uninstall. I'll see what use I'll get from this. Thanks Aiseesoft and GOTD.

Nice program. It could rip Blu-ray and DVD disc to MKV format. The output file looks good, and do not need a long time to convert.

When I attempted to load a file, Zemana AntiLogger reported that the program was attempting to access my webcam... If I blocked the access, the program exited.

Can the Developer please explain why this program needs to access my (any) webcam as an input source?

I'm genuinely surprised that software developers can still generate income from these kinds of programs nowadays, considering the market is so saturated with them (and they all do the exact same thing).

The only difference I can think of that might warrant special attention is converters that utilize GPU processing power, which can reduce transcoding times by several orders of magnitude. Oh, and one more thing... Having all the modern decryption ciphers built-in, which allows ripping of commercial Blu-ray and DVD discs.

Looks like this offer does utilize GPU processing, but I can't find any info about disc decryption...

I dunno, there are just so many of these apps that I think a publisher really needs to tell us why its product stands out, especially compared to powerful freeware alternatives like Handbrake.

I don't know why this product is called "Blu-ray to MKV Ripper" as it can also rip DVDs and output to various video formats (see their homepage). Anyway, it supports graphic card accelerated processing and that makes it at least worth to give it a try!
