I'm old enough to remember when certain things were available free.
You don't get things 'for free'*. 'Free' isn't a price; it's the *absence* of a price.
Anyone got anything for expensive lately?
*Outside the USAsia, anyway.

Re doggie's reference to 'simplistic':, Kevin - it was directed to Caulbox's usage.

When I first downloaded this & followed instructions for install/register, it worked great,,,BUT NOW,,it tells me I have only 30 days to use it. That sucks. Either make the downloads truly GIVEAWAY of the day or don't. I'm not sure if this website is really what they say they are,,I see lots of similar reports on different software, days later, who knows what really works or not.

i agree with whoever mentioned pspad. i find it a rather handy program, containing languages i've never even heard of... here's the full list from it's home page

Editor PSPad supports file types:

C++, Cobol, MS-Dos batch, CSS, Forth, Fortran, FoxPro, HTML, XHTML, INI, Inno Setup, Java, JavaScript, KixStart, Object Pascal, Perl, PHP, Python, RSS, SQL, TCL/TK, Unix ShellScript, VBScript, Visual Basic, X86 assembler and other 120+ languages included as user highlighter definition

it's got an offline browser for previewing, syntax highlighting, tabs, an explorer, HEX Editor, an probably plenty of stuff i haven't even tried yet.

the best part is it's 100% freeware for both commercial and personal use.

#54 - Sorry Kevin, you are out of luck. Any software you download from the GOTD website can only be registered for that 24-hour hour period that the software is available for FREE. The zipped file you download from the website has a text file along with the setup file that tells you how to register the program during this 24-hour period.

If you have to reformat your hard drive, you will lose your registration for any of these GOTD programs you downloaded that are outside of the 24-hour free period that they were made available. You can't go back and re-register the programs. If there are any of these programs you really like, you can purchase them from the game publisher, or wait until the software reappears at a future time and download it again. That is the way the website works. If you are around this site long enough, you will see the same games or similar reappear on a regular basis.

Thanks GOTD for giving us the opportunity to try out software we might not normally think about using. I have downloaded some from this website that I liked so much I purchased licenses for my grandkids computers. This is an easy way to evaluate all the different programs out there - both good and bad.

No one is going to pay for an HTML editor this simplistic when as many have shown there are so many free versions that do so much more.

As one who does quite a bit of web development, I highly recommend KompoZer as it is also a WYSIWYG editor--especially handy when for complicated tables. Also there is a portable version so you can take it with you. (Be sure and download KompoZer rather than NVU.) They're almost identical, except K is billed as a 'bug-fixed version of NVU.')
