What a disservice to these people with one of the finest utilities available .. see Downloads.com. Future of GOAD is jeopardized by this constant negativism. Fine when truly justified perhaps. Perhaps the time restraints for feed back are so limited too many shooting from the hip. My opinion is it is a slap in the face to those who work so damn hard to produce a product and then give it away here! I don't have the any answer sadly.

I cannot believe so many negative and naive comments here. Last I looked downloads.com ranked ASC free #1 utility and paid for #3. I have been using ASC (pro) for years and I am amazed by the nay sayers!
I have been clipping results for 4-5 months now. Incredible how many problems this cleans and identifies on our 3 (+) computers. Including identifying hard drive problems which are repaired. I keep a stable of dozens of utilities. Used to be over a 100. Run them back to back in any order and they all clean more and more. That can be dicey as if need to restore .. where start. So .. Of late, Iobit has gotten kind of Microsoft or Ashampoo .. I hope they find their way back. I'm not jumping ship to be sure cause I never have found an equal. Oh, yes, click one button --"Care" and it it done, or set more to autocare majority. You decide. Setup allows you to decide.

Please be more specific when using the term "includes ... subscription", otherwise I'll skip every GOTD offered using that!

It should be mentioned what happens after the subscription period:

- Does the program stop working?
OR
- Will it downgrade?
OR
- Will free updates end?

Only the last mensioned alternative should qualify as a GOTD !

I've been a software developer professionally for 40+ years. During that time I've learned a few things.

First: Don't assume anything & play it very safe/conservative with your registry, the OS, and any/all toolsets that may play with either!

Second: Don't assume it's the cleaner toolsets fault your system has been hosed over and you back-ups don't work ... you quite possibly did it yourself by not understanding your PC/system and/or how installs/back-ups work.

That said:

I've always been leery of file/registry cleaners no matter who they're peddled by ... every vendors toolset makes assumptions which may or may not be correct for my PC.

I NEVER install multiple anti-virus, anti-spyware, anti-adware, and/or "cleaner" toolsets at a time (i.e.: a trial version of product#2 over my current version of product#1)!

I've found many PCs screwed up because the end-user assumed they could safely uninstall the product#1 toolset since the product#2 toolset installed/seems to be working OK. This typically will fatally damage the registry and/or the backups and/or the OS and/or the new toolset! When the PC craps out a week later (or after they run the product#2 toolset again) they blame the new toolset not realizing their uninstall of the old toolset probably caused the problem.

The reason: These toolsets typically backup and then overlay multiple OS files & registry entries. If/when you uninstall product#1 it will put back the files & registry entries that were there when it was installed! Thus the OS files & registry entries now may be a mix of pre-product#1 and post-product#2 installs! You've probably scrambled the registry, definitely broken the chain of backups, probably have a miss-match of OS files, and likely have only part of the product#2 toolset in place.

Thus: Typically when you run toolset#2 again (or some other kind of heavy OS dependent software): it bombs, your back-ups can't fix the problem (and may actually make the problem worse), and finally you must rebuild the PC from scratch to "get it working" again. All the while cussing at toolset#2 which in this case had nothing to do with the problem!

In summary,

I have been a (very conservative) user of free version of ASC for years. It does some things well. But I agree with #50 (Frank D) and limit my use of the toolset to (maybe even less than) what he indicates. I never 'assume' its choices of what to clean/delete are correct for my PC ... I am very conservative and when I have any doubt I don't let it do its thing!

Since CCleaner is a very isolated/self-contained product (if you watch/limit the install) and does give you the choice of what registry entries to remove, I do have it also installed and will use it occasionally ... but again ... if I am not 100% sure of what it wants to clean/delete I do NOT let it clean/delete it.

Note: To even try to get back to any pre-installed version of your system (without rebuilding or using a backup), you must uninstall in the exact reverse order of the installations including backing out all 'cleaner' actions, etc, as they occured anywhere within the chain of installs, etc. ... likely an impossible task for most people.

I was running Vista, and having a lot of problems, and running ASC to try to correct it. I finally gave up and upgraded to Win 7. ASC was one of the first programs I reinstalled. I kept having problems and had to reinstall Win7 repeatedly about 6-7 times. Finally, I installed Win 7 and did not install the ASC. I've been trouble free since then. I used previous versions without problems, but definitely recommend against this one.

Didn't need but downloaded to try it out, thinking it might help out a bit. Ran it without thinking much and didn't pay attention to what it was doing, and now the Win8 app store, and the vast majority of the apps don't work. Thankfully I did it on an old laptop with backups so it didn't matter much. I think I'll stick to SlimCleaner and ToolWiz. Make sure to check what the program is doing BEFORE you run it all, unless you keep backups and have fun with restoring them :)

While it is helpful to read both sides of experiances from other users, I have used versions of this programs for years. I have installed it both on my home computers and have used it on work computers as well. I have had an excellant experiance with its use. I recommend it to friends because of it's ease of use. As with any computer maintenance, you have to be cautious about what you do and what you install.

I have used ASC for years. Both the free and the paid. In the last six months they have gone to stinky. In fact I had just uninstalled all of ASC I had on my computer just before checking GAOTD and low and behold here is ASC giving away! The constant popups at boot really got to me. It is my computer not yours ASC. I do not want your ads so stay off it. Three years ago you used to be a good thing, now you are just stinky. I will never buy your product again. My opinion is to pass this offer. In six months when this expires is when you will start having the problems. The old Create sickness, Create cure, Sell cure. Do not download.

Ashraf, I downloaded EaseUS CleanGenius from a link on the page you suggested. Even though I selected a custom install, I have had home page and new tab hijacked on all my browsers. I've spent the last two hours trying to fix it. I sent the link to EaseUs. It appears to be their page though.

Make sure you have a full backup handy before you install this because you'll likely need it before too long. The first time this destroyed my system's stability, I thought it was just a fluke. By the 4th time this happened, though, I began to see a pattern.

Personally, I will now not let this thing anywhere near any of my systems.

It has just downloaded 15 fixes (files) and installed them all.....ALL OF THESE FIXES (files) KEEP "FLAGGING UP" EVERY NIGHT ON MY MACHINE AS "DOWNLOADED INSTALLS" WITH WINDOWS XP AUTOMATIC DOWNLOADS... and then guess what they fail to install!!! This program done it FIRST TIME no sweat...why can it do it and MICROSOFT whose O/S it is can't.....Don't tell me it's the usual case MICROSOFT want your money and now XP support is ending they really can't be arsed!!!

#6, I agree. I once, ONCE, let a program "fix" my registry "Problems" and lost such complete control of my laptop that I had to reinstall my operating system. I think you only have to make that mistake Once. Or have someone like you to explain what happens when you let a program take over. Never again. Don't fix what's not broken. Also you can fix a slow computer by using programs like Process Lasso.

This is an excellent program, even if the Pro version only works for six months. IMO, the free version is just as good for system maintenance without the Pro version's tools -- *BUT* with the following exceptions.

* Don't use the Driver Booster. Use Slim Drivers instead.

* The posters who warn against using its Registry Cleaner app are right -- DON'T use it.

Here are the ONLY modules I use (on Win7, 64-bit), and I have been using them for over three years through the various versions, with NO problems:
* Malware Removal
* Internet Boost
* Security Defense
* Vulnerability Fix
* System Optimization
* Disk Scan

DON'T use:
* Privacy Sweep
* Registry Defrag
* Registry Fix
* Junk Files Clean
* Shortcuts Fix
* Disk Defragment

Stick to this set of tools and you'll have no trouble.

Well, Sadly, I feel awkward about singing the praises of this offering after all the negative comments but its MY experience that this is good software and am glad to have the Pro version for a while (I already had the free version)
It has never screwed my system up but others certainly have in the past.
My 64 bit Windows 7 system is maintained in good order with this software but I also run Crap Cleaner from time to time as well as Glary plus JV16 as they all do different things.

I might suggest that if you have an infected system and the software in use removes those infected files, thereby rendering your system unstable, wouldn't you say that the infection has caused the problem and NOT the tool used to disinfect your PC?

Just my unqualified thoughts.
Thanks GAOTD for this. At least I am grateful for it.

Incidentally, I ran SFC.Exe for a laugh and as I expected, No Probs.

I stopped using 6 Pro a month after purchasing for the following reasons:

1. Trashed my Windows XP Media Center PC requiring a complete re-install of the OS.

2. Too aggressive Reg cleaner caused instability. ASC rollback was not completely effective--had to restore.
3. Ineffective yet intrusive Malware software--as previously noted.

Version 7 issues:
1. ASC 7 Free caused additional problems by deleting restore points that I reported to IObit--hence 7.1's recent release.
2. When you select ASC to not launch on system startup IObit knows better and continues to launch the app in the background.

I could go on, yet you get the idea.

The Free version offers some useful utilities that I still use today although there are better dedicated apps.

I recommend you pass on this "Deal".

#5: "I used Registry Cleaner >.< and it destroyed Windows Store so bad that I wasn't be able to repair it no matter what utilities and advices I found from Microsoft and a lot other sites... Not to mention that I had backed up the changes it did in order to restore them in case I needed to… Neither restore made my Windows store work again."

#6: "I love this program, but it almost destroyed my Windows 7 and I had to reinstall my system again."

No offense or anything, but the problems you had are a great example why people should be backing up their disks/partitions regularly. There's free software available, including here on GOTD from time to time, & if you don't want to buy or hassle with a separate hard drive [internal or external], a disk/partition backup image on another partition on your existing drive would have let you restore your Windows install fairly quickly & painlessly. Or while it'll take longer, backup that image to DVD or Blu-Ray discs.

* * *

#21: "Do yourself a favor, take the 15 minutes or half hour it takes to learn to do your OWN cleaning and the 5 minutes it takes to do it. "

Again no offense or anything, but if it only takes 5 minutes to clean things up, including the registry, there's probably going to be an awful ot of trash left behind. Just running Windows' Disk Cleanup [to get rid of old, unneeded update stuff] takes several minutes.

As most any parent will tell you, the easiest way to avoid cleaning up a mess is not to create one in the 1st place. :) Of course it's not that simple with Windows -- it's footprint grows ever larger over time -- but common sense stuff like keeping track of downloads & getting rid of the old stuff you don't want or need anymore helps. It also helps to be selective about what you install -- like many others I use VMs & virtual drive software like Timefreeze to check out stuff like GOTD offers, & those I don't like or want I don't install in the first place. Between Timefreeze, VMs, & Universal Extractor [an app to extract files/folders from compressed setup or install apps] I also try to avoid .msi installation routines & adding yet another set of C/C++ runtime files [check the number of files/folders & total size of Windows\ WinSxS\ to see why I try to avoid the runtimes]. Regshot & Regshot2 let you save records of what changes in the registry during an install &/or 1st run of a new app -- those records can be saved in the program folder for whatever it was you just installed, & used as a template of sorts when/if you later remove it.

That said, some software can add tens of thousands of new registry entries, & even if you have a list telling you what they are, it's just about humanly impossible to remove them all manually -- my personal limit is somewhere around 1-2 thousand, & that took over a day's work [I'm not a glutton for punishment -- I had no choice]. You can usually do better than any registry cleaner because where they might delete an entry, you might delete an entire key containing several, maybe a dozen or 2 entries, but when the choice is between deleting a few thousand [or more] entries, using a registry cleaner, & removing nothing at all, that registry cleaner is a viable option. And as long as you can restore a fresh backup, the most you can lose is your time.

Now whether it's worth it cleaning up or if you should just start over I'll leave up to you. Microsoft says little or nothing about cleaning up Windows or its registry, but they do say an awful lot about re-installing Windows [Google microsoft.com on reinstalling to see just how often]. Likewise I'll leave it up to you whether the sort of tune-up features in Advanced SystemCare PRO 7 & similar are worth it or not. I do the same sort of stuff manually & using individual apps or tools, but there's something to be said for having everything available in one place, in one app.

Microsoft has plenty of rules & suggestions when it comes to coding for Windows, but not much enforcement -- it's not like a dev gets zapped with a cattle prod or anything when they do something they shouldn't. In my limited experience that's when & where most cleaners &/or optimizers break stuff, by tending to follow the rules, not allowing enough for those who don't, for example deleting a critical registry entry that shouldn't have been where it was in the 1st place.

* * *

#25: "Do not worry about the intervening software you installed in between the last FULL backup and thedate your PC has serious crash. Just lose them and reinstall them again later when you have rescued your PC."

Just FWIW, ric, with Paragon or Acronis it takes me roughly 1/2 hour to back up my win7 partition to another drive, internal or eSATA external. There's plenty of stuff I have to do away from the PC, e.g. lunch, that takes at least 1/2 hour, so there's really no reason to not backup just before installing whatever's on GOTD, & that way I lose nothing at all. Well, OK, I might have to restore that backup, but that's another 1/2 hour, & I can usually find something else that takes at least that long to do. :)

I used ASC since it was called "Advanced Windows Care" (version 2).
The best, safest and most effective (and most beautiful) version of this software in my opinion is version 3, the Pro one.
I used to use it and I am going to continue using it because version 6 harmed my PC and I expect that version 7 will do the same and maybe even more.

The vehemence of some of the comments here is astounding. I've been using this program for several years, ever since I downloaded a trial version on this site. At first, I used it with Windows XP, and now, with Windows 7, pro and regular. I've found to be extremely helpful. It speeds up my computers noticeably. I've never had problems with crashing or reinstalling on account of it. The Turbo mode really makes the system fly. There are a lot of options that I don't use, but as a whole, I have found it invaluable. As for the price, it's usually available for half that amount or less, certain times of the year. I can't argue with the pros on this list. This is just my humble experience. Great giveaway!

This might explain why my machine hasn't worked right since Christmas. I downloaded the ACS7 free and let me tell you I have 15 minute boot times. It takes 5 minutes to open a folder 6 minutes to execute a program and even my browsers take 15 minute naps more often then not. I will be commenting in facebook and wham my computer is totally unresponsive. My system clock is even backlogged as many minutes as it is stalled. My mouse and keyboard will quit working. My son says it's my processor but even tho I have a crappy PC I never had these issues before I could not restore I would have to force shut down as even my task manager would not work. Boo to this. I think my damage is done tho and I will have to reformat which I absolutely hate to do but my machine is crippled.

I used to use a very early version of the "free" version, and it wasn't bad. But as the prog was "updated", I started experiencing a LOT of problems, and had "buy me" pop ups all the time. It also permeates Explorer, and prioritizes itself over everything else that you might have other aps for. Too many problems, too many ads, and NO ONE and NO THING takes over my sys without my wanting them to! Caveat Emptor!

I've used IOBit aka ASC in the past and it pesters the pixels out of me! I do not recommend this product for any reason. It slows down your system rather than speed it up and takes forever to get it off your computer. If you try it you will be sorry, I guarantee it! Do not fall for the "FREE" trial. They will hook you one way or the other.

I downloaded this app last year when it was a GAOTD - awesome set of tools. I upgraded to the Ultimate and have it on all of my machines - no viruses, no malware, no system issues, and keeps it maintained on a regular basis. My kids also use their Android app on their phones (which definitely works on battery life). Love this app - thank you GAOTD. Is it worth the $29.95....definitely yes. I used to use System Mechanic and this blows it away.

Also I will add....ALWAYS....do a "custom" install on ANY software you install then you can pick and choose the -extras- that programs now like to sneak in. You uncheck what you dont want installed through this method and it will not install. Then you dont have to at times force uninstall programs you do not want that wont install the regular way.

I have been having a problem with the Realek High Definition Audio (error 0.00000D) and I wrote to them on their feedback form. They have been quite courteous and helpful. I see that they are trying to help (several mails back and forth). It is no yet ready, but geez I am using a freeware! Who else does that for someone who is not even a client? Even though I kept it out of startup, it ran routines anyway, freezing/slowing computer and filling up GoBack partition so GoBack wouldn't go back. Don't know what other damage it did. I RevoPro uninstalled it.

Can't agree more with the warnings for this reg cleaner... it is disastrous. If you don;t detect its damage immediately, be sure to run System File Checker (SFC) to be sure you haven't harmed your PC.

Also... the malware cleaner is quite an atrocious piece of wrk. Try to remove it, you find its remains scattered in many places. I gave up on Iobit after these problems.

Tool Wiz, Wise Care Registry Cleaner, Wise Care 365, and CCleaner are robust and reliable. Stick with them.

I must say the Giveawayoftheday is turning out to be a fabulous source of information on various applicatins, programs etc, even after the GAOTD is no longer available.

I have gone in to the archives on several occasions to get a solution to some computer or technical problem.

Case in point is Giovanni (#11 above) who obviously has researched a lot of sites and is willing to share that effort with all GAOTD enthusiast's.

I have many programmes that were initially offered by GAOTD on my laptop and some of my friends are baffled by how I can use these programs in my everday activities.

Long may it continue, and please keep the archive going, we need it.

I know I'll be getting hundreds of thumbs down for this , so might as well get started. This will be short because I'm tired of repeating myself ad infinitum plus its early and I'm still on my first cup of coffee. Any kind of program like this has the potential to totally wreck your system. Totally. Like in System Restore or Complete reinstall wrecked. I belong to several well respected Tech site's and we see more issues, problems etc. from this type of program than just about anything else. I'm not singling out ASC either , Wise cleaners and others are all well represented. You may not have problems the first time you use this or the second or fifth but eventually these things will require you to either spend hours and hours talking to me and my friends trying to figure out just what was deleted or spending large sums of money taking your machine to a shop. Now, I LOVE working on computers so I'll be happy to track down what went wrong but I might not be able to save your data/programs/photos/music etc. unless you've backed it all up on a regular basis and on a separate drive/media. Do yourself a favor, take the 15 minutes or half hour it takes to learn to do your OWN cleaning and the 5 minutes it takes to do it. You'll be happier, your machine will be happier and the computer shop gougers will be sadder.

Well worth downloading, if only for 6 months as a pro version. Free version is also worth keeping after license expires.

BUT...

**** Look at Ashraf's site - especially if you're wondering what has happened to Giovanni's extremely valuable contributions. ****

From #3 Drew: Dec,2013-CNET review on Advanced SystemCare 7
Too many modules. Clogs up my tray
Takes a little time to scan. I normally run it overnight
All the monitoring services really bog system down
Advertisements for their other products are being displayed at system start up outside of ASC and browser.
It is very hard to find an address for where this company is physically located, which I eventually found is China. When any FREE software offers to scan your system and provides no physical address where they are located, it is because they are hiding. Advanced SystemCare has stolen intellectual property from USA companies, which is why ASC does not have an office in the USA.

I was also a victim of IOBit. ASC7 trashed my registry and caused my system to freeze while booting. I always create a restore point before modifying the registry so I was able to retore the system from Safe Mode. After uninstalling, I found that IOBit leaves a ton of garbage on your system not only in the registry, but in various folders including Appdata. I no longer use any IOBit products and my computer appreciates it.

Uninstalled straight away for one reason. Those annoying promotion popups by the taskbar. I do a lot of video desktop captures and the last thing i want is these popping up half way through a recording.
If I/WE want to look at your promotions can't I/WE just visit your websites!

That's strange, because the other day, when GAOTD, had one of those useless free PDF converter downloads or one of those picture enhancers that nobody uses, I thought, "wouldn't it be nice if GAOTD had for once a giveaway, that everyone could use?" Like an antivirus give away or a system cleaner give away? Then, low and behold, they give use ASC Pro! Well, how do you like that? Finally a giveaway that most of us could use! Grant it, it's only for 6 months, but that's better then nothing! Way to go GAOTD for finally giving us a giveaway that most of us can use!
