@Kailey (#99) - Hi, How kind of You to spot my problem in a "sea" of Comments! I run XP Pro (SP2) and indeed there are 3 usb devices plugged in at booting (mouse, keyboard and my big drive - Seagate FreeAgent, here reason being that lots of Programs of startup are installed there? Funnily enough it's like being "married" to a perfect stranger, you loose track of what's what, what's important, lol, but here in my case OS is only on C, so apart from perhaps CD Drive/Floppy? - other none-OS drives should not even be "taken to account" at booting? How stupid these Windows are at times.., and yet I will still not switch to Mac, so - doggy life for Windowers!:)

Apart from that I have 3 hard disks connected internally, one with OS (XP Pro), two older ones based on XP Home, but "internally" at least there is no conflict between them and when booting they of course all appear in choice Menu, as I already mentioned.

I have been using for quite a while Zentimo Disk Manager, from GAOTD by the way, (optimized for "safe removal" of devices and taking that task from "normal" Window's one: "Safely Remove Hardware", that's all) and with everything plugged in at booting - there was NO problem.
Windows would start, all drives showing.
I have no idea what had changed, but just in case it was that Zentimo - I stopped it from starting with Windows and restored all "powers" back to Windows. Surely that wasn't IT(??!), problem remains..

Perhaps I will take Your advice and see if usb devices (especially big Drive?) have something to do with this mystery. If it doesn't work, keyboard will have to be plugged in first - otherwise I will not be able to even choose the OS drive..?
Thanks a million:) If it solves that particular problem - I will write back here to help others. That's the only reason I had explained at such great length (sorry) my own circumstances, we all learn from one another. Here - opportunity arose from ASC being proposed.. Yet to be explored too. Thanks GAOTD for providing Post-Offer advice, we do follow Softwares and Comments back!

@ #22,
I mean really!? XD
The tittle says 'Giveaway of the Day - Advanced SystemCare Pro 5'
which means it's 'Advanced SystemCare Pro 5' lol @ all the people who thought #22 questions are useful XD
Yes 6 months including all update/upgrades
6 month over it will convert to free version.
All I did was copy the license code and paste it into my Advanced SystemCare Pro 5 free, and got all the features unlocked ^^ Making the free disappear XD

if the software is available for 1yr @ a regular price, then imho,
this licence is worth less than free !. remember, we look for regular, s.e. or pro versions here, that we get to use then spread word of mouth.
shame, looks the goods !.

Thanks GAOTD I am happy that I downloaded this program and tried it.
I have the (paid) Auslogics Boost Speed that I am fairly happy with, but when I tried this program I can see it is better. When my sub runs out I will be buying this one. 6 Months is great to try it out.
Dont miss out people - its a good one!

CAUTION - after install XP system WON"T restart or shut down without unplugging- after 3 hours did get up and running but many programs don't work or error messages abound. Lucky have complete external drive so at least can boot up until can copy all files back to master disk.....pity the poor that aren't lucky enough to have a "plan b", which is a complete second system to replace what was the best - until Adv Sys Care install.....whew what a long nite it will be.

Thanks to IObit and GOTD.
The trick to use this software in your PC that is already full of other registry cleaners, disk cleaners, optimisers, etc....

is to un-tick all options in the settings.

Don't allow it to take over your PC.

Then when you need any one of it's services, e.g. registry clean, then you select manually.

Give Away of the Day is supposed to be for a one year product. Don't support this 6 month giveaway. It's a disgrace. They simply shouldn't have offered this unless it was for 1 full year. my 2cents. And don't come back with 6 months is better than nothing because you miss the point.

why are people on the fence with this software, i've been using the free version for this same software since it came out...it works great, and the game booster is awesome. and weather its 6months or a year license hell it is free people what is your deal, i'll gladly take the 6 months free of extra protection. also the defrag is great i haven't had any troubles with this software. the download was instant, the install took me 1 min and Bam!! i have pro. i didn't even have to uninstall the free version. combine this with CCleaner and windows antivirus free and your off to a good start.

Downloaded and installed fine on Windows 7. Ran it and it found a number of errors on a almost "brand new" pc, about three weeks old. Either its verey good and I've had some problems OR there are a lot of false positives. However, I can't tell if this is ACS Pro or the free edition. The about says Advanced System Caree V 5.3.0.246. It doesn't say Pro. Any ideas?

On the whole it looks like a good program, since when I changed to this new PC, many of my old GAOTD programs were lost.

Thanks.

@ Fran
I know someone with a similar issue, their computer would not boot properly unless they went to the screen and selected "boot from default". It turned out to be a weird issue with Win7 OS and some of the hardware "optimized" for Win7. The issue is that, for some people, having Win7 and/or the "optimized for Win7" hardware, causes problems with usb devices. If a usb device is connected at boot, the boot fails.
Usually it needs to be a disk device for it to happen, but on at least three occasions they needed to remove the usb mouse and keyboard.
If you are having problems on Windows 7 (or Vista, as the problem can also apparently occur there, too) with usb devices, it is possibly the same issue.
So far as I know the only fix for the boot issue, is to remove/turn off all usb devices before booting up.
The issues with usb during operation of the system have never been fixed, or even fully identified.

Restricted licenses are what all software companies should do if they are smart. This isn't a welfare system to feed those that can't afford to purchase software. it is to try software to see if you like it then hopefully you will purchase it.

#33 - Paul60 - Thanks for the info, as I use NVidia graphics/video on all our computers, so it's no go on ASC Pro for me. Due to some of the other specific problems mentioned above, I was already getting antsy about this software. Hope these issues don't extend to the free version of ASC, since I have that on at least two computers right now, even though I have it set to not run unless I tell it to. I once used System Mechanics with Windows XP Pro until it started breaking things bigtime; now I understand that my current OS, Windows 7, is more robust and does not need all the tweaking and/or registry cleaning, etc. So far that seems to be true in my case, at least, and I have no reason to believe that it won't continue to be in the future.

I have a paid version of “Advanced SystemCare Pro 5″. Been using it for about 6 months now, and it is an awesome tool indeed! Urging those who are not familar with this software, to give it a try. You can always un-install later if it doesn't meet your particular expectations. For me though, the Pro 5 is a keeper.

I would love to have one program that gets rid of all the junk! And yes- I am one of those dummies whose comp is currently not running right, possibly due to a program or all of them?
Thank You.
Oh- I dont mind paying after 6 months if it does it all, & if I dont screw it up.

Hello everyone,

FYI - For those of you that already have Advance System Care 5 installed on your computer and want to upgrade to Pro there's no need to uninstall and re-install.

All you have to do is click on FREE at the top of the program and it will open a window then you just enter the license number. It will check online and give you a message that it's successful afterwards that is, if you don't encounter any problems of course.

My first attempt failed I have no clue why. I just re-clicked on activate and the second time around worked. Activated to PRO until January 5th, 2012 (182 days left).

So if you didn't want to register because of the 6 months license, the program will just go back to the FREE version after the expiry date that's all.

I guess 6 months Pro is better than nothing. Well at least for me because I think that ASC is a very good intuitive program even for beginners. I upgraded on Vista HP x64.

Have a nice day:-)

"...I noticed their little popup come up and tell me that it was optimizing the computer automatically. I find this to be a very annoying problem, not the popup….but that it decided to do maintenance before I had completely configured my preferences…"

Well, I installed and immediately went to turn of all privacy cleaning and startup behavior for this program. However, I was just browsing on Chrome and on one of my regular sites Chrome asked me for my password and whether I wanted to save my password. This is a home computer and no one else has access to it. I find it very distasteful that ASC clears my privacy setting even though I ask it not to (or before I get a chance to ask it not to.)

If that makes you feel better...
Luckily, it's not my PC that has to go to a technician afterwards.

I was quite happy to see the ASC version they offered today and decided to give it a try. They certainly added quite a few enhancements since the last version and may even be able to compete with Ashampoo Winoptimizer.

Unfortunately, I did find a few problems they might want to take a look at.

1. In their Settings - Ignore List section, I noticed that they already included a list of to be ignored (for deletion). I scanned the list and noticed that just about every ebay.*** is included, except the one I also use....ebay.ca, so I searched for an area where I could ADD this to the list.....There is nowhere I can configure this myself and add a New place. Please allow people to add or delete any site they choose, your list is lacking greatly, and should not be included automatically. Save yourself some headaches. It feels like this part was created a little unthoughtfully.

2. As I was going through the setting section, I noticed their little popup come up and tell me that it was optimizing the computer automatically. I find this to be a very annoying problem, not the popup....but that it decided to do maintenance before I had completely configured my preferences....this means it probably deleted, or cleaned many areas in the registry, in the history, menues, shortcuts...etc that I may not have want touched. Please make sure that the program does Not automatically activate a clean until the customers preferences have been Fully entered. A simple menu directing people to enter their preferences Before the program kicks in the automatic maintenance would be nice. This problem also means that your "do not do automatic maintenance - let me do it manually" just became useless....I didn't have time to configure it.

3. The program mistook Microsoft Office 2007 files as Office 2010 and wanted to delete the information that I had configured to keep for Office 2007 in the Summary Section - Office Applications - Office 2010. Messy programing and disappointing.

I didn't have the time to look further into the program, but these few problems so quickly don't help the product at all.

Please make a restore point Before installing this product and running a cleanup just in case.

When I find a company that tries so hard to enhance and make a better program but then fails to test, or configure a program properly it leads me to believe they rushed into this without proper testing, or are just using GOTD for the feedback to fix their bugs. (Did I agree to be a bug tester (bad) or try a program from a generous company so that I could buy their product down the line (Good)?).

I will stay with Ashampoo Winoptimizer...not a problem at all...zip..

Hi, OK, we are again in Tweaking Teritory.., some "addicts" will tweak anything that moves, lol, while others take much more measured aproach..

First misleading Fact(!?) when comparing Free Version of ASC to Pro - Free has only 2 ticks in features next to ALL in Pro, YET.. if you've been using that (free) Version (still available to download) you'll know there is much, much more you can tweak for free from Tool Box, with few features reserved only for Pro. So, for a Moderate Tweaker probably enough??

I had Free Version of ASC for a while, so I simply downloaded this Pro Version out of curiosity. 6 month is probably enough to explore.. (but I echo those voices who say: booo, License for tweaking? Come on!)

I am simply looking into it, yes it is packed with all sorts, yet I'm only interested in very narrow section of it, called "normal booting" (no, there is no such section there, just my interest) because although my msconfig is not showing any signs of "ill health" in that "department" I have to manually choose OS drive when starting Windows, and that is far from normal(!), so I'm pinning my hopes on diagnostics of why this is still a reoccurring issue, hmm.

My advice to Those who will be using it perhaps for the first time, or are new to tweaking - Be very CAREFUL!! I immediately made sure it will NOT START with Windows (just in case) and NOTHING AUTOMATIC is set on, otherwise You're really taking RISK your PC might become "iller" that it already is, or isn't. Not taking any fun or interest from discovering the depths of one's PC - find out more, but trust less before pushing those buttons!!

Likewise to the user that posted above my previous thing... Obsolete, invalid, and otherwise redundant registry entries can and do have an impact on system performance. In fact they can lead to system freezes and lockups in some cases. If you are THAT scared of it 'breaking' something, and in the HIGHLY unlikely chance it does break something, ASC has a rescue center which will restore your registry entries that it cleans. It's a win win situation either way.

Auslogics Boost Speed is a must have for all new Windows machines as it's the best at shutting down open doors / bad services. It's a pain to try and figure out what Services to shut down manually using websites like blackviper dot com (and Government then shuts down). It usually finds about 20+ to shut down. However, it's not so great past that for weekly maintenance.

Iolo System Mechanic Pro seems too Grandmafied, but i'm always amazed at how well it works, so it gets first place - even though it just doesn't have that professional feel and look (and has some bloatware / services always running Auto). I really wish it wasn't the best, but it really is the best i've tried.

This Iobit Advanced System Care Pro does a great job as well and is a must have second place to Iolo SMPro!! Too bad it's only for 6 months but you'll probably wind up buying it anyway because it's a sweet followup to any OS Utility like Iolo or Auslogics. I wouldn't run Win7 without these 3 Musketeers of killing junk and cleaning up loose ends. I'd convert to Linux first. I think you do have to convert it's service to manual as well, unless you like all that automated weirdness. The only think i ever run auto is, ironically, Iobit's separate software: freeware Smart Defrag 2 (one of, it not the best, defraggers).

As both a computer technician and a user, I have been using ASC Pro for years. People who are saying the program is dodgy and it could harm your system and so they won't use it... clearly have never actually used the program. I have used this program on dozens of computers, both free and paid versions, and not once have they EVER broken anything.

I just installed program but it never showed a place for me to install the key. However, a window did pop up that had the key in it already. I opened the program and it ran a scan. Is there something else I need to do, or did it register automatically? I have used this program before and LOVED it and don't want to lose it after midnight if I need to do something else.
Thanks

Have used the free edition of this before and thought it was very good except sometimes it would over-clean. I think I'll stick to TUNE UP UTILITIES 2012 thanks.

Never let any program/software delete registry entires - yes they're may be some redundant ones hanging around in the system but they not doing any harm. Typically, first scan finds between 600-1100+ entries, after it deletes these "redundant" entries, that's when your troubles start!! Caveat emptor.

I bought this software and it did so much damage to my computer that I had to re-install everything. Based on what I charge for computer work as a business, this is $175 in damages, plus the cost of replacing a few things that where not available for download anymore with equivalent software. The free version works, but the paid version is bogus.

I use Tuneup Utilities 2012 and this program works better than ASC Pro. I know because I have both. With I shut down Tuneup Utilities and use ASC the deep clean actually slows my system down? Must be the defrag tool. If your looking for a system tune up program I would recommend Tuneup utilities. But this one offered today can't hurt just might slow you down a little!

This is the first time I have seen such a blatant sales campaign on GOTD. They may as well just put up a sign, buy a year and get 6 months free. Not taking this one for just that reason. A give away is not just trial software, just longer than a month or two.

@ 28 Robert Haug.
If you use WOT as a criteria for downloading reliable software, then you are missing out perfectly good programs.
Do a search for WOT lawsuits and see what I mean.
