Just wanted to throw in an update. I have now used the software quite a lot and do like it and will continue to use it. There are a couple of bugs, however. I don't know where to report them except here. The program crashes when using Quicken 2007 or Cute FTP. OS is Windows XP SP2, Home Edition. The message I get is "duplicate key" as it crashes. Does not cause crash of any other software and if I close Quicken/Cute it is fine and ActualDoc will restart with no problem. Hope this is helpful.

Wow, Installed this and had no problems what-so-ever!!
I also run Windows XP Pro - SP2 and the program works great. I want to comment on the worry about passwords being saved in the program, inside the program there is an option to password protect all your passwords as well as to compress them. This program in my opinion will do everything but cook dinner for you.

Thank you very much GAOTD & Flexigensoft Labs
Excellent program and a great giveaway : )

I find this idea quite interesting and like the added security factor very much. Any security about recent doc's is a plus in my book. Even minimal security is better than nothing, which is what Windows offers. This will take a 'little' configuring to get it the way you want it to perform. After installing I had an issue with the main app freezing up after the initial wizard to set a password. Had to use task manager to close. Restarted PC, app opened upon log-in and froze again, resulting in using task manager to close it a second time. Once closed it opened manually, but the password wizard opened again. I closed the password wizard and the main app became accessible. Closed the app, did a system reboot, and all worked as advertised. I think the initial default delay of 15 seconds before startup upon log-on is to short and conflicted with other startups in the log-on process. Setting the startup delay to 60 seconds worked for me, allowing enough time for other things to start beforehand, avoiding potential startup conflict(s). Everything seems to be fine and opens as it should now, and all is working as advertised. A little aggravation for me to begin with, but well worth the effort. I think this is a unique tool unlike any others and I'm looking forward to exploring the possibilities it offers.

Once a gain thank you GOTD and Flexigensoft for this opportunity to try something new and unique!

After 24 h training and learning the program I can conclude that it could be usefull for me. And for many others I hope. What I especially like in this tool is it's filters.

I'll bet that the high percentage of thumbs-down are from people who haven't tried this. Very useful. If you know what you're looking for, GDS or similar might be more useful, but this is great for recent "documents" (more like recent files, including executables), and doesn't expend resources on an index.

#34 ...Normally, you can right-click on Start, choose Properties > Customize > Advanced > and check the box labeled 'show my most recent documents.'

Until I downloaded ActualDoc early this morning, that had been my procedure, and results given in one long, unordered list.

I was pleasantly surprised to that ActualDoc allows me to search by date, and filters documents by document type (i.e. music, html, .inf, applications, text docs, multi-media, Last Search Results and images).

Since the features are customizable, I no longer have to sort through a haphazard list; instead, I can simply choose the filter (Photoshop images used yesterday, for example) and the information is readily available.

As a genealogist, this program will simplify the tasks involved in coordinating different family trees and all the documents and images associated with my research. (Now, if it could just simplify the search for birthplaces of great-great-great-great-grandparents...)

For its user-friendly interface, customizable features, password protection and task efficiency, it gets 9 of 10 (more testing required for that 10 of 10 rating...if it is still working next week, it's a given).

Thanks to the GAotD team for another great offering; special thanks to Flexigen for simplifying my work!

#55 John:

You're right, she should've respected your opinion--but she's also right that you ought to give this a try first before knocking it. I was really surprised at its usefulness. That's not immediately apparent.

First thing I do every day is check to see what the giveawayoftheday is. Then if it sounds interesting I read bladedtoths excellent review. Thanks for providing this service to everyone its very helpful.

If I am still interested I will read the comments to see what problems people are having like with registration if there are any tricks to it.

Then I will finally try it out.

Todays application although it looks help for some is not for me as I don't create that many documents that I cannot keep track of them.

I can see how this could be useful to people who do however.
