Hi, normally I don't write a comment when I have not installed the GOTD, however today I have to answer two "reviewers" who too haven't anything written about the tool.
@ #21 ww2vet56 and @ #22 A :
Both of you are right and are not right regarding the comments. Some commentators are gone others have joined the community. It is ridiculous to quote numbers of a pseudo statistic as if this would be of any evidence. <em>"9 of 10 quality comment posters have left"</em> and how many have joined? Sometimes "Real Live" forces people to change their habits.
None of the users who posts a review are somehow affiliated with GOTD or GGOTD,there is no <em>"dedicated professional reviewer"</em>, all of them are volunteers just as the moderators and administrators of the Forums. And as WitheRabbit aka Stephen. He posts the free games he has found in the WWW when he will, when his computers will, when the telecom will, when the sun is shining or the snow falls in thick flakes. He is the "Guru" of the games community with a lot of "co-gamers" who posts games as well. These activities have nothing to do with the quality of the daily Giveaways. Only with a great love to games and with the joy at sharing their treasures.
<em>"I think it’s time someone here starts wondering why."</em>

Dunno, thanks BuBBy and Ashraf,(your comments make a lot of sense) Personally I have no need for this program so I'll give it a miss, I can see where if you have a home network or an unsecured LAN setup this program would serve a purpose. Um #21 hah!~(just shakes his head sadly)

Talk about looking a gift horse in the mouth...
I've gotten MANY very useful programs from GOTD in just a couple months. I for one am grateful for what they do, the programs that they offer, and the vendors that provide them. Everybody keeps comparing them to free programs, which is fine, but why do so many complain about what is free this day or that day?? Trashing GOTD for what free programs they give you is like a homeless guy kicking somebody in the nuts for giving him pistachio ice cream when he wanted chocolate. No, it wasn't chocolate, but it was free and he wouldn't have had the chance to have it if it wasn't offered. And like the homeless guy who can go find some chocolate ice cream, you can go digging around and find alternatives if you want, but don't get upset with GOTD if you don't like what they are giving away, just come back another day. Leave your comments, give them a thumbs up or thumbs down, review the pertinent aspects of the program, but stop bitching about GOTD.

#21 I do not work for GAOTD. I have been a daily visitor of the site for over two years. New and worthwile giveaways come about once every ten days. There will not be any clues given for the release dates of these non-repeat giveaways.

Comments are just as valuable as the giveaways. Patience and diligence to repeatedly check the site will be rewarded. Complaints about the GAOTD site and service will be ignored. There is always a hate group and a love group for the service. Frankly, it sounds like a broken record.

GAOTD has a dedicated professional reviewer who reports in the comments section of each giveaway. His/her opinion of the giveaways are usually very accutate. Look for that specific commenter and see if anyone else lists freeware alternatives. You daily visit to the site will be much more productive that way.

How positively pathetic? An offer up for 18 hours + with 18 comments & a 25% user approval rating! Please, before you loose what little respect remains, close for a week & regroup.
Every quality vendor has left. 9 of 10 quality comment posters have left. Even Stephen doesn't bother posting his free games here anymore and still, nobody at GOTD has gotten it.
I do apologize but it's past due that someone steps up & speaks his /her mind. These offers are lousy, truly lousy. Every day, someone lists better free alternatives. Even the greedy no longer bother to suck up. As of today, I have zero give aways on either my Vista or XP systems. I think it's time someone here starts wondering why. If you don't like this post, to bad! This is exactly whats needed saying for weeks now.

The Good
    * Easy to use and understand.
    * Simple and straightforward interface.
    * You can ban computers via network name or IP.
    * You can see folders/locations that you are currently sharing.

The Bad
    * Monitoring is kind of buggy.
    * Displays a lot of "junk" information.

Free Alternatives
Look at comment #3 by Bubby

Verdict
As I mentioned earlier, the concept behind Active Share Monitor I found to be nice. But the fact that it does not monitor activity 100% accurately really makes me frown at this program and forces me to give it a thumbs down. As for my recommendation for today, all of the free alternatives are pretty old and I have not had a chance to test the free alternatives, but looking over them, I would say first give ShareWatch a try then try the rest if ShareWatch does not fit your needs. If all else fails, you can just fall back to Windows Computer Management.

#17, close the program, and be sure it isn't running in the background, either. Run activation, then open the program. It will register.

This is a simple, clean program with easy to understand help files. I think it's a great idea to check that there isn't some back door action going on. Any time there is a home network, there is some possibility that it could be compromised. This looks like a good safety measure.

Thanks, GAOTD!

#17 David Uncapher, Try closing the program and run Activate.exe again. It took a couple of times before it registered on my XPHome SP3.

I installed the program and then activated it. It still says that it is unregistered. Is there something I'm missing here?
