Installed, registered and runs fine. Been ripping Mash Season 1 and am fairly happy with it. The only thing I don't like is that I have to click convert for each individual episode instead of being able to click once and then it will rip each episode. But it's not that big of a problem.
And for you people who are looking for something to get rid of copy protection, I use DVD43 when I use Nero but with this copier and DVD shrink it is not needed.
Thanks GOTD and A-One for the fine program...

Installed with no problems, but a copied DVD would not play in one of my players. It did play in another one, but there were so many artifacts it was very distracting. Final quality was very bad. I'll stick with tried and true DVD Shrink.

I have a question about this program, I've copied some of my dvds and they are choppy in some spots. Did I do something wrong? Some just stop and I have to skip the whole section to get past it.

The ripper refused to rip, and The disk copier would not let me change the temporary work area from my c: drive.
I'll look for something else.

I did not find out about this free item until today because when I tried to get to your giveawayoftheday.com site it was not there.
it said server was not available on your end, so please repost this giveaway soon. I got the a-one ipod psp 3gp video converter, so I would like these others to go with it, so they are compatible with each other. the one I try to use with this sometimes the converting does not work.

This is a cool program. I've been playing around with different video encoding methods to transfer DVD's to my P168+ phone and this program is by far the easiest to use. My limited testing so far is that it does have an issue converting widescreen DVD's to 3gp as the image is compressed and there isn't a setting to record in 4:3. I like the presets for each device, but would also like to have a little more control as well. Oh and it works well with iPods too. It is great for the money, free, so I'm not complaining.

dvd copy & dvd ripper from A-one software
This is the first program after downloading and running it, that I can truly say is the most useless copy/ripper program I've tried.
My eye caught the price, which I'm sure many others saw, downloaded the file(s) which are wrapped in one. You have to register each program separately. With many other dvd copy/dvd ripper programs one would find an assortment of files associated with their program, well there is no extra files. Other programs I’ve used are upfront with what is contained in the files.
When I opened the dvd copy program, there were NO Preferences to change the interface from those horrible colors or to make the program larger so to be seen. Selecting dvd directory rather than the actual dvd file is odd. Needless to say when I tried to get either the copy or the ripper to work, both failed.
Be wary of the 3rd application titled 'PcSetup' which is also within the same folder. If you double click it, it will load the following labeled 'Patin-couffin drivers installation and configuration tool'. There is no documentation supporting this nor is it stated what this is for.
To those that find this program to be a wonderful program, my condolences are with you. Hope you don’t run into problems cause the way they come across on their homepage, you have to be at wits end before getting assistance.
There ARE better programs than this one out there. There are better programs out there search labdv or jetAudio. Good luck to all using A-ones software.

thank you to all who made this giveaway possible. i have been wanting a dvd ripper, but i know so little about this kind of software.

i had no trouble installing or registering (although, to be fair, i had read about there being 2 different codes before i installed).

it did take me a few minutes to work out how to use it, but i have successfully ripped a dvd and played the movie with windows media player.

i'm not sure when this new encryption that people are talking about started, but the movie i ripped is a fairly new movie, it was released in the beginning of february of this year.

thanks again, gotd.
a huge thumbs up from me.

GOTD fan of 3 weeks and 1st time poster. quick comment on regarding my system.

Registered both the ripper & copy with thank you messages, however, A-one dvd copy hung and crashed pc upon that message. Re-booted, clicked icon and was advised of 3 copy freebies allowed, repeated registeration only to geta repeat.

I have the DvdFab, which I've yet to use along the GOTD Xilisoft a few back.

I normally use Ripit4me, dvd decrypter with dvd shrink to pretty good sucesses.

With that said I'll be removing the software; much thanks GOTD for this cool opportunity

The 2nd time I used A-one DVD Copy it gave me a progress bar as it was copying as well as when it was writing. The only different was I unchecked the clear temporary working directory option. So go figure...

I had no problems installing, registering or running the software on a machine with 32 bit Vista Ultimate on it. As always, I ran as admin so that might help some Vista users.

I haven't tried the ripper yet, but the copy part works real well. It took about 32 minutes to copy & another 24 to write to a DVD. Around 56 minutes in total so in less than an hour I had my DVD. Which I'm sure differs depending on the power of one's machine.

The DVD played fine in WinDVD as well as my TV. The quality seemed as good as what I've gotta with 1Click DVD Copy Pro & I didn't need anything like AnyDVD running in the background.

Though A-one DVD Copy has a progress bar when writing to the DVD it doesn't when it's copying. The only indication I had that it was doing anything was the light blinking on my drive. It did open the DVD player when done copying & asked for a DVD to write on so I knew it was done. I still would like to see a progress bar as it's copying.

Also, I'd like to see a cancel button so if you need to you can. I don't know what happens if you simply just exit the program because I didn't think to try it at the time.

I picked to include only the English audio, the subtitles & the movie menu & extras. Also, to compress it to a single-layer disc.

Now I don't have a High-definition anything, but the DVD looks great to me. And it's easy to use, quick & great for novice users.

Thanks GOTD & A-one. I give this a thumbs up.

@#106 Mack
Nero alone can not make back up copies of your owned store bought DVD movies. You need a program like this or DVDFab to bypass the copy protections. And if using DVDFab you would also need DVDShrink to compress double layer DVD-9 to fit on a blank single layer DVD-5. I tested this software given today and it does both.

@#85 Dennis
You must be a first timer here. The register numbers are in the txt file that came in todays downloaded zip file

@#111 Pete
ddraw.dll is a MS file and you might find some more info on it at this link: www.auditmypc.com/process/ddraw.asp

@#114 RST
This is the full version, not a trial version. The “time limited offer” means that you only have a 24 hour period to download and register the software being offered for free. The software will work and be registered as a full version as long as you never uninstall the software or reformat your drive.

Rather late in the evening I got round to trying out this program by our favorite Chinese consortium (A-one, Plato, Acala, Agogo, A-plus, Cucusoft, etc etc) and I tend to agree with the previous posters about the amateurishness of the GUI. Which is rather amusing since all these companies do is write GUIs for one shared engine.

My biggest criticism of this variant is that when I uninstalled it, it removed *NOTHING* - the files in both Program Files and the pcouffin.sys in the profile (at least it wasn't in windows\system32 this time) were still there.

Reverted using Returnil. Thumbs down.

#107: It might just be time to format the drive & re-install windows or use your recovery partition & start fresh. Sorry to have said that but somethings seriously amiss with your system or something you have installed is blocking give away.
Check your firewall, create a rule. Check whatever anti-spy & anti-virus you use & create rules, manually if need be. Tell you what. I use Kaspersky Internet Security with spy Emergency 2007 on my XP Pro system & ESET Smart Security with Spy Sweeper on my Vista system & have never experienced any troubles such as you describe. And, this is not the first time I've seen you ask for help solving inyour problems with give away.
If you want some of these free for a day apps, do what you gotta do & quit messing around with what appears to be a sick operating system. Again, sorry for saying it but you have issues, whether created by a security app or some kind of damage created by a registry of disk cleaner. Time to let it go & do what you gotta do.

My System: Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1
Intel Centrino Duo with 2 GB ram, 160 GB hard drive.
HP Pavilion dv2615us
Anti-virus is Kaspersky 7.0 suite
No problems on the install (used the two separate codes)
Rips DVD's very well (audio is in-sync with visual). DVD copy feature works, but not every device will play the disc (this might have to do with the fact that I compressed material from a double layer DVD to a single layer DVD). That said, it is really hard to find a DVD ripper that rips in sync, so I'm very satisfied with this product. Thanks, GAOTD!

Good piece of software. If you are looking for something to copy DVDS and rip them to a variety of options with a good front end this will do. Rip DVDs to ipod, psp, ect. The UI is good, but the quality is not excellent.

I'm probably one of the few that isn't interested in actually ripping a DVD. I want to create videos from my personal collection, but when I go to copy it, all I get is wavy green lines (though I do get the sound) how do I fix it? (I've tried every type of file listed and I get the same results)

Installed fine under my Altiris layer (so I can try it safely).
Started it once (DVD Copy) and registered fine. However, looks like an unfinished software: 1. Always start at the same place on the screen under the taskbar (my taskbar is on top) and no matter where I move it, will still start there. 2. Task button does not respond to right-click so I can't give the Move command - neither does it respect the Alt-Space keys. Although can be moved using its border, should have respected Windows UI standard. 3. Broken skin - the minimize, maximize, and close button of the window just take whatever image of its current position when started (not transparent).

This may be a good ripper but I didn't bother. The interface is ugly and unfinished. It didn't follow Windows UI standards. It did not bother to remember window position. It did not respect the taskbar desktop limit. I didn't even try to start the other tool. Anything that looks this "unfinished" must have so many bugs - if they can't be bothered to repair the obvious bugs, I can't trust that there are no hidden bugs that will destroy my system.

Yep, especially with that Pcouffin engine. I had bad experience with that engine before and my desktop DVD drive has never been the same (physically - symptoms persist after re-format). So, when I saw it installed without asking for my consent (unlike installations of driver-like software like this), I already have reservations.

Here's what I can say about the company based on what I see on the software: It's a group of small-time inexperienced developers without any proper planning on the UI, no dedicated UI team, no proper support structure, no proper software architecture - more like just cobbled up a few codes to string together several codecs, put in the pcouffin engine for low-level read (didn't bother to make their own), write some dvdcss hack, and here you have a software. Before even finished and polished, sell it.

So, the other part of the tool I didn't even bother to see. I just right-click and delete the layer in Altiris and the software is as good as never installed (which is what it should have been).

You can all say what you want about another conversion application and I have thought the same thing, however, this one is a keeper for me.

DiskCopy produces an output almost equal to the original. I have yet to see anything compare.

Thanks for a good one. Oh, and by the way, it installs and works wonderfully on Vista Ultimate.

Why is this "time limited offer" any better than the free trial offer from the website? It doesn't seem like much of a "giveaway," if you're just getting a trial version that is already available for free from the publisher.

I did the usual, unzipped, installed and registered with the serial numbers. That worked fine. I did get the unsigned driver on Vista Home Premium 32 Bit but I chose continue and everything worked out okay. I ripped a DVD Video to my PSP (NHL All Access, just the main feature)

And it worked out okay. There is no lag with the video, and it turned out to be 333,890 MB in file size after its ripped. The other formats worked too as it saved some space. I do want to let everyone know, that unless you really have something to do on the computer at the same time of ripping a movie is to disable the screensaver and monitor power saving mode , go do something else. This program is a big CPU Hog on a single core processor, and doing anything else might make the video and audio not sync properly.

Finally, make sure you pick the right firmware version for what you are ripping the video to. The firmware I have is 3.90 and so you need to choose 3.30+ for the format.

Installed on XP-SP3 machines (P4, Core2Duo L7200 and AMD-64 Turion) and the ripper works great. It's nice in that it lets you set up your movie with the sub-titles (if you like) and then re-start the rip from beginnin to end. Since I love foreign films this is important to me. The text in the subtitles comes out sharp too! Very good software. Thanks for the alternative to DVDFabDecrypter.

@Lyn #95:
It is like with books. Alice in Wonderland is originally in English, but there are translations in a lot of other languages. Why would that be?
So you have a DVD but you can translate in 3GP because you want to be able to watch your DVD on your cellphone. Or you want to watch it at your iPod (you choose for iPod). Every "translation" (=conversion) has it's use. And you will be able to choose what way you want to use it for, only translate it first. Different devices speak there own different language.

Help???????
I have downloaded this program, because I really, really wanted it, but once more ( as in the last 6 downloads from GAOTD ) when I try to open the file, it says "connecting to GiveAwayoftheDay to check for availability", then BAM! Fatal Error - Invalid Key
I have:
1. Turned off my Virus Protection (yikes)
2. Turned off my firewall ( double yikes )
3. Checked that my computer is not using a proxy.
4. Turned off WinPatrol
5. Emptied my cache and internet history.
6. Rebooted.
Nothing seems to make a difference. I saw in the Forums that others have had this problem, but nothing they suggested seems to work for me.

I have missed on some great programs because time runs out before I can install them. Does anyone out there know what to do?????
